Is There A Connection Between Vav VavVav and Faithful Talmidim?

Is There A Connection Between 6 66 and Faithful Disciples?

6 66 Not what we thought?

We saw in a previous post (link below) that 6 is the numerical value of the letter VAV in the Hebrew Alefbet,

https://www.minimannamoments.com/in-times-of-need-and-during-days-of-uncertainty-whos-got-our-vav/

and we are no doubt aware of the inference to the multiple of it as 666 from the reference in Revelation 13:17

Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is six hundred threescore and six.

In Revelation 13, The beast is identified as the number of a man and gave these numbers as the name of the antichrist. Meaning: The one against Christ – christ means anointed, so it is against the anointing. It is referring to more than just one individual as it’s a spiritual influence that is totally opposed to His Holy Spirit/Ruach HaKodesh, the living God/YHVH and Jesus/Yeshua Messiah. This spiritual influence was already in the world back in the days Jesus/Yeshua was here.

It is anti messiah/anti anointing and part of the beast system in the worlds matrix/construct.

We must understand that since the time of the Early Church up until now, the spirit of Antichrist has already been at work, preparing the way for the Antichrist to take center stage, lawlessness is already at work. (2 Thessalonians 2:7).

And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world. 1 John 4:3

What ever is opposed to Gods’ ways, is antichrist in spirit, influence and action.

When the reference system of chapter and the verses were added as an aid to the Scriptures it was not without interesting assignments of the numbers. Notice for example, how many scriptures with the reference 3:16 in different books are significant in their content.

Most famous being John 3:16.

So what is the connection between a faithful talmidim/true disciple and 666?

תלמידם  – TALMIDIM – [tal-mee-DEEM] – Disciples

As we know, nothing in the Word of God is there by coincidence, so it is a noteworthy comment that a particular scripture in John’s gospel has these specific numbers as its reference.

666 vav vav vav

6 in Hebrew has a meaning of the number for man/humans and is used for both the letter W and V.

The letter Waw/Vav is the sixth letter of the Aleph-Bet/ alef-beis, having the numeric value of six.

The pictograph for Vav looks like a tent peg, whereas the classical Hebrew script (ketav Ashurit) is constructed of a vertical line and conjoined Yod.

The meaning of the word vav is “hook,” as a connecting hook used when the mishkan (tabernacle) was assembled.

In the Bible, the number 6 symbolizes man and human weakness, the evils of Satan and the manifestation of sin. As such, it represents “Adamic man,” who was created in Genesis 2.

Man was created on the sixth day. Men are appointed 6 days to labor. A Hebrew slave was to serve six years and be released in the 7th year.

We could see it then as a triple point being made to humanity, especially in relation to the subject content of the verse here in John, which is also a very critical scripture.

John 6:66

From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him.

The number of this 6.66 beast causes listeners to scoff and not believe in truth when spoken, and its name is backsliding, giving up… however as talmidim, we are called to

endure to the end…

John 6:66 in Context from 6:53

6:53 Then Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in you.

54 Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day.

55 For My flesh is food indeed, and My blood is drink indeed.

56 He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him.

57 As the living Father sent Me, and I live because of the Father, so he who feeds on Me will live because of Me.

58 This is the bread which came down from heaven—not as your fathers ate the manna, and are dead. He who eats this bread will live forever.”

59 These things He said in the synagogue as He taught in Capernaum.

Many Disciples Turn Away.

Then said Jesus to the twelve, Will ye also go away? John 6:67

60 Therefore many of His disciples, when they heard this, said, “This is a hard saying; who can understand it?”

63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. 64 But there are some of you that believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who should betray him.

They went away backwards!

His teachings were just too hard for them to accept and believe. The direction here is backward, not simply stopping where they were, but they reversed their position; losing anything they may have gained by having been in His presence.

When what He requires of us does not fit our paradigm, when it is too inconvenient, or may cause discomfort and interrupt our daily routine, are we any different from the grumbler’s? Do we say it is too hard a thing for us to do?

They were disciples/talmidim and by the very definition of the word, they were used to discipline. Yes, some of His sayings were hard so hard they left off from following Him..

It makes one wonder, where do we get this picture that following Jesus/Yeshua and being a ‘Christian’, is like a picnic on a sunny day with everything absolutely perfect, skipping through flower filled meadows with birds singing, animals frolicking in springtime youthful play? So much of our thinking is pure fantasy and not based on the reality of His Word, especially Messiahs words. We project the love side/ aspect almost with a bias and neglect the seriousness of the scriptural issues at stake. He said, in this world you will have tribulation. It is part of our training, in order to build up our faith, so if we are not experiencing tests and trials then it would seem we are not being trained. That is why we are to rejoice….we are maturing!

James 1:2 Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, a whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. 4 Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

We are in a battle, a fight for life itself, eternal souls are in the balance and the Way, His WAY is narrow, the way is hard, it is uphill, the path is steep, that road is full of pitfalls and we need Him every step of this Way.

No wonder He said few there are that find it.

So we must need to look because He said those that seek Me will find Me. Prov. 8:17

When? How?

When we seek/ look for Him with our whole heart.

Chevarim and Mishpachah, we are in perilous times

BUT we are NOT to fear… He said they would come.

2 Timothy 3 (NKJV) Perilous Times and Perilous Men. 3 But know this, that in the last days [] perilous times will come: 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 unloving, [] unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, 4 traitors, headstrong, haughty lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;

None of this life in the Spirit is automatic and being saved is not an end in itself,

it is the start of a new life with His spirit within.

Yeshua/Jesus says we must stop living to protect the life of the flesh. It’s not the real us, and it cannot be redeemed; it can only be quickened to accommodate our walk spiritually.

Being filled with His Spirit is not an end, it’s the power to walk the WAY/Derekh, it’s the strength to follow Him and to find that ancient path of holiness. We are a peculiar people, set apart, we are to be in contrast to the world. We are not to be absorbed into it but separate from it and willingly embrace the hard sayings. Don’t be seduced and don’t succumb to the 6 66 and end up following Him no more.

In John 6:53-59 He was referencing the tabernacle /Mishkan and the eating of the showbread of His presence, and the Passover lamb of unleavened bread and 4 cups of the Seder meal.

He was saying.. I am here to fulfill this appointed time, I am the Passover lamb, THE sacrifice to take away all sin.

The ones who left Him may have been confused, because cannibalism was very evident in many pagan worship rituals 2000+ years ago; and some of the listeners may have thought mistakenly, He was meaning to literally eat Him.

And they did not comprehend what He meant, for in their minds, how could what He said be possible? Firstly, that He was alive and secondly, that He was saying He was from heaven… to them, the facts did not add up.

Confusion is a great tool of the enemy, it causes many to fall away through lack of clarity and understanding. Let’s not be of those who fall away for any reason, but of those who press on, like Paul, to the prize of the high-calling.

If we don’t believe or think tests, trials and hardships are what we are supposed to experience in life. Read what happened to all the apostles and disciples. Only John lived a full life, all the others were killed for their faith. Pauls life as an apostle/ a sent one, to the Gentiles, was a series of horrific events. Recorded in 2 Corinthians 11:25.

Paul’s ship sinks on the way to Rome.

Those whose lives bear hardship and trials seem to be those whose lives are dedicated to His calling. Compare any of the apostles to today’s ministries. There’s something very inconsistent with the Scriptures and the modern western lifestyles. When compared with the true church/ ecclesia we must be discerning as we follow Him along the narrow way that leads to the dalet, the door, Yeshua/Jesus. Through Him, we enter everlasting life and like the camel through the eye of the needle, whose load had to be removed before it could go through the small door into the city. We too must off load all that we carry unnecessarily and lay it down, as well as all the burdens that prevent us following Him whole heartedly.

John 6:66 (Context.)

John 6:63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. 64 But there are some of you that believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who should betray him.

This should give us pause for thought, for He knows the intent of our hearts whatever we say or do to those around us.

Another more positive angle on 666 is the numerical value of the letters vav vav vav; when added together = 18 which is the same value of the letters for chai – the Hebrew word for life.

Chet (ח) and Yud (י)

חי

which signifies life and represents being alive.

There is life/chai/18 in 6.66 when we don’t reject His hard sayings and ways.

In John 6:66 The word, Talmidim/disciples, meaning students.

This is not a reference to His inner circle of 12 men; or of the 12 apostles, for they are distinguished from these in the next verse; nor any of the 70 disciples, for their names were written in heaven, and could not apostatize totally and finally, as these did.

For we read that John spoke up…

He and the others knew Messiah had the words of eternal life..

It is referring to some of the multitude of the disciples, who followed Messiah, heard Him, and professed to believe in Him, and were baptized in His name, but were not true disciples, only nominal ones.

They withdrew themselves from His ministry, they dropped their profession of faith in Him, and relinquished Him as a Savior and Redeemer and Lord: for when it became clear that He would not be made their king, or a temporal redeemer; and then talking of Himself as the bread of life, and of coming to Him, in a sense they did not understand.

They turned their backs on Him; and as the words may be literally read,

returned to the things that were behind;

to the world, and to their old ways and old companions/habits, to satan and their own hearts lusts; like the dog to its vomit, and the swine to its wallowing in the mire: their true picture is drawn, in the parable of the unclean spirit going out of the man, and returning, (Matthew 12:43).

this is why Paul says forget the things behind…if we focus on them they can lure us backwards…

And they returned to their previous teachers, the Scribes and Pharisees, and to the law of works, and to seek for righteousness by it; setting up their own righteousness, and not submitting to the righteousness of Jesus Christ/Yeshua HaMashiach; they looked back and drew back,

and walked no more with him;
never returned to Him anymore,

or went with Him from place to place as before:

never attended on His ministry again

or had any intimacy/friendship and fellowship with Him:

and so it commonly is with apostates who turn from the profession of Jesus Christ/Yeshua HaMashiach; they seldom or ever return, or are recovered; it is difficult, if not impossible, which is sometimes the case, to renew them again to repentance. Only He can touch their hearts as we pray for their teshuvah/repentance.

תלמידם. talmidim-

A plural Hebrew noun meaning “disciples” in its truest sense: those who leave family to study and follow the ways of their teacher [rabbi].

They study not only to learn what their teacher knows but to become the type of man their teacher is.

We are to endure to the end and this is the reason for the warning and why if we yield to 6.66 turn away and follow Him no more, it is more than likely those individuals will succumb to the 666 system that John spoke of in writing the Revelation of the resurrected Messiah Yeshua/Jesus.

From the time many of his disciples/talmidim went back and walked with Him no more.

It’s a moment of truth,

it’s the time when the rubber hits the road.

When the test of our commitment is proved, because when Our Father gives us a clear understanding of His will, by His spirit, through His word, 1John 1:7, we must walk in the light of it. We are constrained by love to abide by our decisions and commitment to do what we have said we will do, what we have promised the Lord in our covenant agreement. We do not swear in vain we are bound by oath.

If we know to do it and don’t, we will sink to a level of bondage that the Lord never had in mind for us.

The point of revealing, our personal apocalypse of who Messiah is, and the reality of His redemptive work in us has a profound effect, in that we should be so changed from our former self so as to be almost unrecognizable.

The Lord Jesus/Yeshua our Rabbi (teacher), in us – the hope of glory. If He is in us then it should be obvious in every aspect of our new creation reality.

Do people know you by your affiliation to Jesus/Yeshua or by some other imagery? What we present to the world and to others in it, is how we really want them to see and know us.

Is it by our designer clothes labels, what we wear. Do we buy the latest fashion to be the same as everyone else? Are we known by where we live or our status in the community, our belongings and our worldly prosperity and success in our chosen field, or are we workers in His vineyard, seeking His face, His kingdom and His pleasure.

Are our lives acceptable in His sight?

Acts 26:19 is a key.

If we are mentally disobeying the heavenly vision it will make us a slave to ideas and to viewpoints that are completely at odds to those of Jesus/Yeshua. We as disciples, are not to look at others and say. If he/she can prosper with those views/ beliefs why can’t I?

We must walk in the light on the revealing/ the vision/ the picture that has been given to us and not compare it with those of others. If we find that one of our favorite and strongly held beliefs or views on things clashes with the heavenly vision. i.e.

That which has been revealed to us in scripture and what is truth and righteousness in all its ways, we must not begin to argue and bend His scriptures to fit our personal dreams, desires and goals.

The moment we do that we will fall into one of the snares of the devil, which is the pride of life, a sense of prosperity and personal rights/ of entitlement/ will surface in us and these are the things that Jesus/Yeshua placed no value on, as He indicated to the rich young ruler. These are the works that will be burned up, they are wood hay and stubble.

In fact these things are the root foundation of everything foreign to Him and His life and He was opposed to them in every way.

Luke 12:15 He said, one’s life does not consist of the abundance of possessions.

If we don’t see or understand this, it is because we are choosing to ignore the foundational principles of His teaching and many even say I don’t want that for my life, but I want this, I want to do that, I want my own way.

We tend to lie back and relax, leaning on the memory of wonderful experiences of the past, when His will was first revealed to us. However if these standards of discipleship have been revealed to us by His light and we don’t try to measure up to them, or even feel the need to have a desire to do so – then we begin to backslide. The movement of a walk is by its very nature/essence a movement forward, it’s action, not static or reverse.

And it means our conscience does not respond to the truth, the choice to respond is left to our free will. We can never be the same after the unveiling of a truth, when personal apocalypse comes, there has to be a reaction; and all actions have consequences and future outcomes, either directly or indirectly.

This moment in time shines His light upon us and He marks us as a disciple, we either continue and press forward with even more zeal and devotion; or as someone who walked with Him no more, turn to go backwards.

In our lives:

Turmoil/Ra comes from reacting to people.

Peace/Shalom is born of response to His Spirit.

Darkness is always related to light – the one always follows the other.

God/YHWH/Yehoveh, made the evening and the morning and called it day.

Our experience is a daily combination of evening and morning darkness and light

We go to sleep/ rest as the darkness comes and rise into the light in the morning

Psalm 139:12

Darkness and light are all the same to God – this is because His light penetrates the darkness and as we walk by faith and allow His light in, the darkness will flee.

So the connection to a true disciple is found in the scripture John 6:66

666 From the time many of His disciples/talmidim went back and walked with Him no more.

The antichrist spirit influences humanity in three areas, the world, the flesh, the devil! against our spirits, souls and bodies, which is why this Scripture 1 Thess. 5:23 is important.

Days are coming when people are going to see the unbelievable and hear of truths that have been hidden from the public view. Jesus/Yeshua warned us that peoples hearts would fail them for fear of seeing things coming upon the earth…

What will we do?

Who will we believe and who will we follow??

Will hard sayings and our physical senses cause us to follow Him no longer?

There are 4 options:

Are we walking towards Him,

or away from Him

or are we walking WITH Him

The only WAY we should see this direction

is if we are following Him

or are we

between 2 minds?

“How long halt ye between two opinions?” (I Kings 18:21).

These are the words of the prophet Elijah. They were spoken to a large group of people on Mount Carmel. They had departed from God.

Elijah warned the people to make a choice

1 Kings 18:21 The term “halt you” in the King James’ Version (“falter,” NKJV) provides a literal picture of what Elijah means.

It suggests a person staggering, unable to catch his balance, and failing to accomplish anything of any consequence because his mind is divided.

The person in such a circumstance cannot get a grip on life. These people were wavering back and forth, which the scriptures record was typical of the Israelites. The Bible shows in many places that the people continued to worship God, yet also served their idols

Essentially, they tried to worship both the true God and pagan idols, which suggests a divided mind. “No man can serve two masters; for . . . he will hate the one and love the other” (Matthew 6:24). But the one that he hates is still a part of his mind, and it will cause problems.

In Elijah’s word-picture, he is indicating that though nothing is wrong with the rest of the body, because the mind has no focus, the body’s efforts have no direction. This sets up a situation where, at best, there will be little movement—that is, little accomplished—and at worst, there will be no forward movement at all, but just staggering, first this way then that. That sort of situation produces nothing.

Elijah is quite instructive here. He began to prophesy in a time of immediate crisis, one that would become far worse before it ever improved. There was tremendous evil to overcome. His ministry took place about 150 years before Israel was to fall, becoming the Lost Ten Tribes, so God was beginning to make a powerful witness to them. Elijah’s work was to reveal the true God to Israel in a time of growing national crisis. (sound familiar?)

Elijah prepared the way for Elisha, who had a double portion of Elijah’s spirit and did many more miracles. In this regard, Elijah was a type of John the Baptist, and Elisha, a type of JesusYeshua. God’s pattern is being established. He sends someone long before the real crisis reaches its peak, while it is building.

Elijah says disturbing things. This is a prophet’s job, a hallmark of a prophet of God. People like to feel comfortable. The only trouble is that people like to feel comfortable in moral mediocrity. They become “settled on their lees,” as it says in Zephaniah 1:12.

The prophet comes along and troubles people by awakening them to their sins, making them feel guilty about their relationships with God and each other. He awakens them to their spiritual and moral responsibilities. These Israelites were lethargic in terms of true, spiritual matters.

When an individual is freezing to death, he feels a pleasant numbness that he does not want to end, so he just goes to sleep as he is freezing to death. However, when heat is applied, and blood begins rushing into the affected areas, pain immediately occurs. Even though it hurts, the pain is indicative of rescue and cure. God sends a prophet to people who have become cold in their relationship with Him, like they are spiritually freezing to death, and although they want to stay that way, the prophet turns the heat up, and so they become angry with him, often accusing him of causing their pain, when he is actually working to reverse their condition.

A prophet’s life is never a happy situation Jeremiah is an example of this, he moaned and complained to God,

“This is more difficult than You ever told me it would be.”

He didn’t like the position God put him in and wanted people to like him. However, he was faithful and did his job even though he was in trouble his whole life.

There are several ideas as to exactly what Elijah meant by How long will you falter between two opinions? One is that he likens them to a bird in a tree that cannot make up its mind where it wants to settle down, so it just keeps hopping around.

How long are you going to hop from branch to branch?

Another idea is that it pictures a person shifting his weight from one foot to the other, indicating a degree of lameness.

A third is that he is describing somebody teetering on a tightrope and trying to maintain his balance.

Whatever the case, there is no doubt about Elijah’s intent: “How long will you keep shifting from one opinion to the other?” Their spiritual lethargy for the true God made them uncommitted. Their commitment went one way, and then it went the other way.

Once Elijah began preaching, their conscience pricked them, and it encouraged them to worship the true God. But their carnality and their fear of men persuaded them to worship Baal, because they wanted to be friends with their fellow Israelites. They were straddling the fence in a precarious state of imbalance, attempting to combine the worship of God with the more popular worship of Baal and Asherah but it will not work.

When Elijah preached his message, it put the people in a bind because they knew their conscience was telling them that they had to commit themselves to God or to Baal. It disturbed them. Only the individual could decide which side he would be on, because Elijah made it clear, God does not want you the way you are. Either you are going to be committed to Him or not. If you will not be committed to Him, you are going to die.”

This indeed was a hard saying!

The lesson for us becomes clear, because Jesus/Yeshua says the same thing in Matthew 6:24; 12:25. The Sovereign Creator is not a God who allows His favor to be bought. He is a loving Master who only is to be simply obeyed and served – and only on His terms/covenant which we often fail to understand.

The devil never lets men halt if he can help it. That is the last thing he would ever think of doing. He keeps them so fully occupied, and so on the go, driving hard for the things of the world and of the flesh, that they have not time to halt. It is hard to get them to listen for 2 minutes because he pushes them in business, pleasure, family, consequences, anything that will take their/our attention.

We have heard the references to the days of Elijah

אֵלִיָּהוּ

Eliyahu

This name is written two different ways – אליה,

pronounced as eliy-yahu

or

אליהו, pronounced as eliy-yahu / ay-lee-yaw’-hoo

meaning, My God is Yahweh /YHWH.

In Malachi 4:5  I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful Day of the LORD. And he will turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, And the hearts of the children to their fathers, Lest I come and strike the earth with a curse.

(He may have been referring to John/ Yochanan’s ministry)

and

because of that scripture in Jesus/Yeshuas day, they thought John the Baptist was Elijah returned.

In Matt 17:12 Jesus said: But I say to you, behold, Elijah has come, and they did not know him, and they have done unto him everything whatsoever they wished;

We think of John as the metaphorical Elijah, or re reading Messiah’s words, it may have been Elijahs spirit in Johns flesh body as in the same way we read Elisha had a double portion of Elijahs spirit!? Interesting concept…. as there is much we do not understand regarding spiritual matters and this generation is probably about to get a wake up call concerning what is real and what is not! God is God and He can do whatever He pleases. We limit Him by the parameters of our own understanding and reduce Him to mortal abilities and finite actions.

John called people to repentance and a life of obedience, preparing the people of his generation for the coming of the Messiah Jesus/Yeshua, the One who had come

to seek and to save what was lost. (Luke 19:10)

and to establish the ministry of reconciliation (2 Corinthians 5:18).

The days of Elijah were days of upheaval trials famine darkness and war, yet it was also preparing the WAY of the Lord…we are here again Gods pattern comes full circle and days of repentance

We are the voices crying in the wilderness we are the voice of the yovel calling for repentance and salvation…

Lets continue to prepare ourselves for Shavuot so His fire may fall on us and that we are so filled with His Holiness that all within us that is not of His spirit is consumed.

Then all that remains are vessels full of His Light, His Glory; and His sayings will not be so hard that we will follow Him no more – but rather be the beacon of hope to the world in darkness, the light on the hill, the burning lamp whose oil will not fail. Why? Because we are filled with all the fullness of His presence continually and people will see Jesus/Yeshua, the Light of the world in us.

Next time we see or hear 666 lets remember John 6.66 and whose we are and who we serve!

Remember He said…

It Has Been Said We Are The Elijah Generation…If we are then we are in for a wild and serious ride……

Shalom shalom mishpachah/family and cheverim/friends! You are loved and appreciated and prayed for daily.

Seeds And Seasons

מוֹעֵד

moed

Strongs #4150

Phonetic Spelling: mo-ade’

Today as disciples/believers in Jesus/Yeshua as Messiah; we learn about, observe and celebrate the Appointed Times of God as if they were something just recently discovered, a new trend, the latest thing; when in fact they have been followed since Moses was instructed concerning them.

It’s only new to us, not to the children of Israel; and even they were more aware of their significance in earlier times.

In truth God set things in sync. in Genesis:

It is most probable that in Genesis 1:14, where ׳ מ אֹתֹת, the reference is to the sacred seasons as fixed by moon’s appearance; and so also ׳ עשׂה ירח למ he made the moon for sacred seasons Psalm 104:19, although many Lexicons & Commentaries refer these to the seasons of the year.

The word translated as seasons

in the Hebrew Masoretic Text (MT) is

moedim (H4150),

which means

appointed times.

Let Them Be…For Feasts?

Many folks associate the word seasons in Genesis 1

with the feasts of YHVH outlined in Leviticus 23

because it is the same Hebrew word moedim used in that text:

The Hebrew noun מועד moed,

Strong’s #4150

is translated as

appointed time, meeting, or season.

It literally means an appointment.

Genesis 1:14
HEB: וְהָי֤וּ לְאֹתֹת֙ וּלְמ֣וֹעֲדִ֔ים וּלְיָמִ֖ים וְשָׁנִֽים׃
KJV: and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years

Read that verse again replacing seasons with appointed times or festivals and it takes on a much richer meaning. Considering that God/Yahweh/YHWH, made the sun, moon, and all the stars for not only days and years and signs (something else to consider), but also for appointed times.

The plural moedim (מועדים), refers to any of the 3 mandatory Pilgrimage Festivals of Passover, Shavuot and Sukkot

Shavuot (חג השבועות), also called Weeks or Pentecost.

This marks the climax of the Passover Season,

the giving of Torah at Sinai

and the

giving of the Ruach (Spirit) at Jerusalem.

It is the genesis/beginning

of the Re-New-ed Covenant

for all nations, tribes, and tongues…

Centuries and millennia ago the Lord’s seasons and appointed times were critical to daily life.

For them it was crucial to watch the sun and moon and stars and fix their eyes on the heavens.

Why?

Because they had to be sure when to plant,

when to wait,

when to harvest and

when to let the land lie follow.

In Luke 21:25 Jesus/Yeshua said there will be signs and they that see them would know.

This was also His accusation towards the religious leaders of the day, the fact that they did not recognize Him, that the signs should have confirmed His coming to them but they did not see them, or worse, chose to both ignore and deny them.

Matt 16:3 and in the morning, ‘It will be foul weather today, for the sky is red and threatening.’ Hypocrites! You know how to discern the face of the sky, but you cannot discern the signs of the times.

His disciples asked Him what they should be looking for..

Matt 24:1-51

Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?”

Matthew 24:1-51, Mark 13:1-37, Luke 21:5-36

Destruction of the Temple,

Signs of the Times and End of the Age

For the people, the waiting between events was just as important and as anticipated as the appointed times on certain days.

And they simply lived in harmony with the natural cycles of life and of the heavens and met with God when He said it was time.

Every farmer/ gardener knows, we plant and watch and wait for the fruits and crops to be declared ready and ripe before reaping the harvest.

Wrong timing means a poor harvest; which is why He waits patiently for the precious fruit of the earth. James 5:7,

In Luke 6:37 it is implied throughout these verses, that God acts as we are exhorted to act. They give a picture of the gracious spirit of God.—καὶ.

Give — Liberally to those that need your assistance; and it shall be given unto you

For your kindness and liberality will naturally gain you love and respect; and God also, by His supernatural grace, will influence men’s hearts in your favour.

Good measure,

pressed down,

shaken together,

and running over

Messiah makes use of these 3 phrases to express all the different kinds of good measure, according to the different nature of the things measured.

Some of them, to make the measure good, must be pressed down and trodden, like grapes and olives;

some of them must be shaken, as the several kinds of grain;

and some of them must be running over, such as all sorts of liquids.

The meaning of giving this

good measure into one’s bosom,

is an allusion to the eastern dress, which were long pieces of cloth wrapped round their bodies, and girded up with a girdle.

Their garments being of this kind, they could receive into their lap or bosom a considerable quantity of such dry goods as they sold by measure.

Μὴ κρίνετε, μὴ καταδικάζετε,

judge not, condemn not.

By judging, we decide as to the goodness or badness of an action: by condemning, we determine as to the person, what (punishment) the guilty has deserved.

Proverbs 10:5

In this the son is not wise because he stops to wonder if the correct time for harvesting has come. Is he not following events closely, so he doesn’t know what time it is?

However the son is wise because he gathers in Summer which is the appointed time, God’s timing.

Regardless of his understanding, he is to respond wisely and gather because the season has arrived.

The second part says he who sleeps in harvest time is a son who causes Shame.

There are many reasons God’s children fall asleep during a time of harvest.

It may be because we are sick, distracted, lazy or just think we know better than what God is telling us.

Whatever the reason we sleep, the outcome is that we miss the harvest because we weren’t paying attention to the time, to the season, to the Kingdom of the heavens, to the cycle of life and His/our appointed time.

This is why the children of Israel were instructed to Count the Omer because they were commanded to Count the days from Passover/Pesach to Pentecost/Shavuot.

Jesus/Yeshua kept and fulfilled the Appointed Times – Precisely.

It was crucial because they needed to know where they were according to Gods’ timetable. His schedule, His calendar; for the simple reason they would be ready to reap when it was time.

The reason we have a problem following Gods calendar, and the reason we fail to observe and do; is because we are keeping our own calendar, our own schedules, and our own plans and purposes, and our own important dates – those that are not on His calendar/ annual rhythm of life.

We need to remember that God’s calendar is

His will and His way..

and it has not changed since He initiated it with Moses.

It is men who have changed it and obscured the biblical rhythm of lifecycles. Instead of looking up we have our heads buried in busyness and business and miss even the most obvious things going on around us..

Here is a back handed compliment, in that, if you are under assault/attack in various ways then we are causing problems for the adversary/ha satan because we are keeping His commands.

Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy. 1Peter 4:12,13

Nevertheless it is time to

wake up

stay alert

be on guard

and watch

so that our Heavenly Father’s seasons will not pass us by un-noticed any longer.

We are to be wise children and keep in sync. with our Heavenly Father, so that we will be ready for His gathering of the harvest when the summer arrives.

It was fulfillment prophetically, and as are all things pertaining to the coming of Messiah, this is a time to both reflect and prepare. The harvest of Shavuot/Pentecost may be more significant than we realize.

When He told them in Matthew 24 Mark 13 Luke 21, to wait in Jerusalem until the promise came, He was referring to Daniel 9:27 7:1311:31 and Joel and Isaiah 13:10 Ezekiel 32:7

It was not an enforced, all-restricting, lock-down; they were fully cognizant of the Time of the Omer and its significance. Pentecost/Shavuot, was waiting for the first fruits harvest, however the coming of the Holy Spirit/Ruach HaKodesh on Shavuot was a new experience and it initiated a spiritual harvest – the first fruits of Messiah’s resurrection.

3000 Jewish individuals were converted to Messiah in one day. We  often miss the significance because we do not know His seasons.

3000 perished were Lost in the wilderness.(Num 26:10)

and it is not coincidence that 3000 was the number SAVED at shavuot/pentecost!

They were not new prophecies. He was reiterating prophecies already in the Torah, prophets and writings, which they were familiar.

Certain events have occurred in past generations however, the key is Matthew24:33 when all these things happen at the same time…

This is the generation that will not pass until all be fulfilled.

A harvest season may be the season of His return but He said we do not know the day nor the hour but be assured,  the Bridegroom WILL COME for His Bride.

Paralambano – Greek: παραλαμβάνω

Strong’s #3880: paralambano

(pronounced par-al-am-ban’-o) from 3844 and 2983; to receive near, i.e. associate with oneself (in any familiar or intimate act or relation); by analogy, to assume an office; figuratively, to learn:–receive, take (unto, with)

verse 40 and 41. At the midnight hour which is more accurately: the mid of night.

Immediately before the washing of his feet in John 12:26/7  He said,

A short time is light among you walk in the light while you have it so you can become the children of light.

So Jesus said to them, “The light is among you for a little while longer. Walk while you have the light, lest darkness overtake you. The one who walks in the darkness does not know where he is going. While you have the light, believe in the light, that you may become sons of light.” John 12:35

While you have the Light, believe in the Light [have faith in it, hold to it, rely on it], that you may become sons of the Light and be filled with Light.

Verse 36b When Jesus had said these things, all these things he left and HE HID FROM THEM they would not be able to find him.

There is a time coming when He is not going to be found by those seeking.

The DOOR of grace will be closed as in was to the ark…. and the flood came and took them all away. Door/dalet I AM the Dalet/Door. Messiah is our ark.

Harvesting The Crop of SEEDS.

Mark 4:26, 29

How to succeed in sowing a seed

Everything Yeshua/Jesus taught them was in parables.

Examples of truth are enveloped in a simple story that gave a clear meaning to the listeners, that is; if they had ears to hear and eyes to see.

Secrets of the kingdom of the Heavens/Shamayim, hidden since the foundation of the world

That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, I will open My mouth in parables; I will utter things kept secret from the foundation of the world. Matthew 13:35

We are living in the days the prophets spoke of and whatever we choose to believe will not change the truth our personal opinions are of no value unless they precisely echo the words of Yeshua/Jesus.

He said every word will be fulfilled, that means the bad as well as the good.

In Gods ways,

death initiates life….

and darkness is dispelled by light;

forward and upward are His directions

and we leave as we came  – with nothing…

The kingdom of God, the kingdom of the heavens; Jesus/Yeshua said it has come. He told us to pray for it to continue to come; so it is a critical element in our individual walk.

There are many references to it and what it is like what its composition is and how to recognize it.

Here in Mark it is likened to a person who cast seed on the earth.

This is all the individual does

and as the days pass,

the seeds spring up and grow.

Although the man does not know how it grew.

God is the supplier of all seed (Nun/Noon) and we need to have faith to turn over our hands, so that the seed might fall to the ground and become a great harvest in our lives.

For by it self the earth brings forth fruit.

It doesn’t need our help it’s not even the seed or the one who sows that produces the crop but the soil by it’s self with no help from humans.

Truly this is a mystery

What proof do we have that the seed we sowed is the same seed that sprouts and grows?

First the stalk after that the head and after that the full grain in the head

As soon as the crop is ready to yield itself, immediately the man sends forth the sickle because the harvest has become.

The evidence is all circumstantial we think that since something grows where we put the seed it has grown from our seed that we planted.

The truth is that from the moment it leaves our hand and is covered with soil we do not see the seed again. We just trust that the seed we sowed is the same seed that will grow is and is the one that pushes up through the earth.

We wait,

sleep at night,

awake in the day

but how it grows we just don’t know

and our work was done at the sowing

This seed once nestled into its womb

and place of birth,

the earth,

then Life springs forth –

that life comes from the soil of the earth.

Another verse of this parable says the

seed is the word of God

and the

earth is the life of the individual

and the type of ground/ Life.

Here He is giving the progress of the seed both as how it is received and then what is produced.

First the stalk

This is the framework the structure that is planted deep in the life-giving soil and will support the plant.

To understand the parable is the mystery of the seed and despite all of our knowledge of science and biology, we still cannot explain why/how seeds sprout and grow.

The first point is:

that the seed is like the grace/chen of God which is an essential part of the process of becoming a disciple. We have to pray and realize that if God is not in it all of our efforts will come to nothing.

We have to be willing to be discipled from the Grace/Chen of God and not our own egos. When God is not at the heart of our efforts to spread the good news, then we are simply witnessing and not making disciples. Initially we need to get rid of our pride, prayerfully humble ourselves and ask our Father to give us the grace/chen to both reach and make disciples in faith.

It is the foundation which must be stable, likened to the house built on sand or rock a sure foundation is essential or in any kind of storm it will not withstand the elements and be destroyed.

Next the head

wheat

This is the container for the fruit that will yield the fruit for the crop. The stalk must be strong to hold this head of fruit.

corn

It is like a house and within it is the precious new life/chaim.

We too are His House on the earth and since Jesus/Yeshua came, we are the containers, the precious fruit of the earth that He waits patiently for.

The second point of the parable is the slow progression of growth: first the blade,

then the ear,

then the full grain in the ear.

We mature in faith with baby steps and saints are not made in 24 hours. Developing faith is a life time project because we change and grow in stages. Discipling is the process of mentoring people from one stage of faith to another, and having the discernment to recognize when someone is ready for the next step. Unless grace/chen has done its work, a person cannot be rushed in their development – just like growing corn, it takes 90 days not 30.

It cannot be grow any quicker. We can plant, water, fertilize, but corn will take about 90 days to ripen. Some flowers like daffodils brought inside in the early spring forces them to open but we can’t force corn. Mentoring others in faith means: having patience and a discerning eye to know when someone is ready for the next challenge to their faith muscles being stretched. Sadly some never progress beyond a certain stage and even regress, it’s all a matter of choice and freewill.

The next is the full grain in the head or ear.

At this stage the fruit comes forth abundantly

It is to be noted that it takes a specific time to develop, it’s perfect in its time.

Ecclesiastes 3:11. He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.

Everything in God’s creation tells us of His ways.

They are always in perfect time and in Godly order.

Life/nun gives way to fullness/chet/50/shavuot/pentecost, and the seed grows through its stages to full maturity the full corn in the ear.

It began as a seed in a human hand small and dormant not dead but sleeping in a kind of stasis, awaiting the perfect conditions predetermined by its creator.

When those conditions were applied from its humble origin in the seed realized it’s God assigned destiny and it reached its potential to the fullest extent.

So the third point of the parable is to recognize the harvest. When people are ready to be spiritually fruitful, they are ready to do whatever Holy Spirit leads them to do. If you have ever seen a field of corn or any crop that has reached its moment of glorious maturity it is a sight moving like the waves of the sea.

A grand Vista of proud growth pristine standing tall reaching for the sky and sunshine and yet it is not serving it’s true and final purpose it is failing to fulfill that which God has created it for. It has matured so it cannot grow anymore it is complete and ready but its final goal is not yet realized.

And the next verse 29, harvest has come, and the man sends forth the sickle. All that hard work: from birth to growing up, to establishing foundation and of maturing through life

and now

to be cut down in it’s prime?!

Life gives birth to death…and yet in that death,

finally it is now able to fulfill its’ God appointed destiny…

He grew up a shoot Isaiah 11:1
A shoot will spring up from the stump of Jesse, and a branch from his roots will bear fruit.

Only to be cut down in His prime and yet from Him came such abundant seed which today is still multiplying from His death.

The seed the farmer sowed into the ground is a reference to us today, we like the seed, have being scattered on the ground…

and His call to us today is to sprout and grow

but like the seed we won’t know how.

But God….

as we are the containers of the seed we have within us His life/chaim. His Ruach/His Spirit and by it’s self/ Himself/His Spirit produces a crop;and with every Appointed Time of His Annual Life Cycle we are refilled and brought to fullness at Shavout/Pentecost ready to GO and Make Disciples of all nations sowing precious seed of our own for His Kingdom.

Matt 13:23; Mark 4:1-20; Luke 8:1-15.

Mishpachah/family and Cheverim/friends, Our Messiah Jesus/Yeshua is calling us to lay down our lives.

Come,

come now,

and don’t delay.

The kingdom of His heavens is at hand, even at the door

and the head is full of grain

and the crop is ready;

which means He will come with His sickle –

so let us willingly, humbly, yield ourselves,

because the time of harvest has come.

He grows us up to cut us down.

It is His way, He did it with His only begotten Son Jesus/Yeshua; so why would we think it would be any different for us.

He matures us to our fullest potential and then takes us for Himself and uses us for His purposes.

Let us gladly, jointly, surrender all, to the gatherer of His harvest because we cannot know how seeds sprout and grow – only the one who created every seed understands this mystery.

He plants us, gives us Life, makes us grow and be a ready crop..

Now He comes For His Harvest!

Aware that the mp4 below is obviously ‘out of season’ in its timing but be encouraged to listen in amazement to this presentation of HALLELUJAH sung by Kaylee Rogers who loves Jesus with all her heart.

What makes this talented singer even more special is, Kaylee is a challenged child, overcoming autism and ADHD. She is, in the truest sense, an OVERCOMER as the BIBLE speaks of and so are her many precious schoolmates at the wonderful KILLARD SCHOOL for special needs children in Northern Ireland.

https://youtu.be/Bmx–WjeN7o

These scriptures have never seemed more real! Matt 18:3 “Truly I tell you,” He said, “unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.

Matt 19:14 But Jesus said, “Let the children alone, and do not hinder them from coming to Me; for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”

Oh my! How much we can learn from children such as these!

P.S. For those counting, today is day 32, which is 4 weeks and 4 days of the Omer; day 49 will be Wednesday night May 27th 2020.

Heavenly Father I come to you in the Name of Jesus/Yeshua asking for forgiveness of my sins for which I am truly sorry. I repent of them all and turn away from my past.

I believe with my heart and confess with my mouth that Jesus/Yeshua is your Son and that He died on the cross at calvary to pay the price for my sin, so that I might be forgiven and have eternal life in the kingdom of Heaven. Father I believe that Jesus/Yeshua rose from the dead and I ask you to come into my life right now and be my personal Savior and Lord and I will worship you all the days of my life. Because your word is truth I say that I am now forgiven and born again and by faith I am washed clean with the blood of Jesus/Yeshua. Thank you that you have accepted me into your family in Jesus’/Yeshua’s name. Amen.

What I Am Doing You Do Not Know Now But You Will Know Later. Part 2

At the end of Part 1 we were speaking of the bronze basin/laver in the Mishkan …

The bronze basin /laver stood near to the altar of sacrifice in the courtyard (Jesus/Yeshua being the sacrifice), and the priest would wash their hands and feet before ascending the altar to perform a sacrifice.

He was required to only wash hands and feet, the rest of the body being covered by the linen/righteousness the robes of office conferred.

These robes are now the robes of righteousness that we are clothed in as garments of salvation that all wedding guests must be wearing.

2Cor 5:21 Christ took all our sin and guilt; we received His perfect righteousness, in right standing … We stand before a Holy God dressed in robes of righteousness without spot or wrinkle.

Is 61:10 I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, My soul shall be joyful in my God; For He has clothed me with the garments of salvation, He has covered me with the robe of righteousness, As a bridegroom decks himself with ornaments, And as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.

We see Joshua the High Priest clothed with robe of righteousness. Zec 3:1, 3-4: Behold, I have removed you iniquity from you, and I will clothe you with rich robes.

The robe of righteousness is fine, LINEN, clean and bright, the robe which the entire Bride of Christ will be clothed with.

Rev 19:8: And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.

His is dipped in blood…

Rev 19:13: And he was clothed with a robe dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.

The atonement is for all the saints – all those who’ve been redeemed by the blood of the lamb.

The wrong garment means not washed/sanctified prior to putting on holy garments to minister before the Lord. Reference to the wedding guest wearing the wrong garment.

The high priest served the people before God.

Jesus/Yeshua served people before God as our

High Priest

and He was/is the agent of washing us clean.

Just as He as High Priest was washing Peter clean.

He fulfilled the need of the Brazen basin/laver in full washing to be made holy.

https://www.minimannamoments.com/the-season-of-our-hiding/

However, the Lord instructed Moses regarding the bronze washbasin/laver used by the priest during this service in the Mishkan. The washbasin stood near the altar of sacrifice in the courtyard and the priest washed their hands and feet before ascending the altar to perform a sacrifice.

(Who can ascend the hill of the Lord/holy of holies but he who has clean hands and a pure heart.)

The foundation of Gods throne/His presence, is repentance and judgment, righteousness and justice. It is not emotion, it is love which is truth, Messiah is the TRUTH.

John 14:9 KJV: Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that … If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also:

He was the express image of all that God has laid out in Scripture which spoke of Him the coming Messiah.

Be washed/sanctified before entering the kingdom of God and through Jesus the Door/dalet.

The Door of the sheep

The Laver was placed between the altar /repentance (where a death was demanded)

and the tabernacle/ the kingdom and that is the Lord.

By the spirit Jesus/Yeshua was giving Peter the message;

(washed [leloumenos, bathed] )

cleansing/washed/sanctification before performing the sacrifice and entering the presence of God.

The altar was His cross and the seed/Himself had to die to become alive/resurrection and the burial/ death in water /immersion and purification had to precede in its order of Gods pattern.

Peters’ desire for Jesus/Yeshua to wash his hands and head also, John 13 :1– 18 and not only his feet is a reference to the role of the bronze laver/the wash basin in the Mishkan of which He was a type and shadow and Peter wanted to be completely Holy and prepared to minister and enter into the Holy place.

John the Baptist had also declared it ..

Repent – here is the altar or death to sin

And be baptized everyone of you – here is the laver

In the name of Jesus/Yeshua the anointed for the remission of sins and ye shall receive the gift of Ruach HaKodesh.

Acts 2:38…

And following 50 days of omer, which is a time of preparation of inner self, to Shavuot/Pentecost and receiving the promise of His Ruach/Presence.

This Appointed Time of Shavuot, commemorated receiving the covenant of Marriage/Betrothal and the Torah/Word of God /Jesus/Yeshua Himself /His Ruach/Spirit descending to be with us forever in the sanctuary of our physical bodies and no longer in the Sanctuary/Temple which was the pattern of the Mishkan.

Remember the disciples were told to wait?….They were counting the Omer according to the Appointed times of the Lord..

We must be born of water and spirit before entering the tabernacle, the kingdom of God/kingdom of the heavens. John 3:5

Laver a place of cleansing – just as baptism was a place and act of repentance and cleansing from sin.

Ex 30:21 so shall they wash their hands and feet that they die not and it shall be a statute for ever to them even to him and to his seed throughout their generations.

There is room for everyone who will accept the High Priest Jesus/Yeshua by being born of water and spirit and be willing to come to the door/dalet of the tabernacle and then enter in.

A Robe of Righteousness was worn once a year into the Holy of Holies to place blood on the kapporet /seat of mercies. No shoes were worn, because the ground was Holy. The presence of the Lord was there so it became Holy ground, just as it was to Moses at the burning bush. Wherever His presence is, it becomes Holy.

Peter wanted his hands and head to be washed and sanctified in the sense of full purification and indeed it was coming.

(What I do now you will know later.)

Jesus/Yeshua was about to make the Way into the holy presence of the father by His own death, sacrifice for all, access through His blood. The forgiveness of sins taking His blood to the mercy seat in the kingdom of the Heavens.

What I do now you will know later.

The process God gave Moses, along with the format of the way to prepare to enter the presence of God, was the pattern and the only way, until Jesus/Yeshua came and said,

I Am the Way;

because He fulfilled the format/ Pattern given to Moses by His sacrificial death. And not only are we redeemed but we are sanctified made holy/set apart and therefore able to enter His presence. Relationship has been restored with our heavenly father, He was the restorer of the breach Isaiah.

For when Moses was about to erect the tent, he was instructed by God, saying, “See that you make everything according to the pattern that was shown you on the mountain.” 6 But as it is, Christ has obtained a ministry that is as much more excellent than the old as the covenant He mediates is better, since it is enacted on better promises. 7 For if that first covenant had been faultless, there would have been no occasion to look for a second. Heb. 8:7-12

Improved, added to – line upon line….

Jesus saith to him, He that is

washed [leloumenos, bathed

needeth not save to

wash [nipsasthoi, to wash

his feet,

but is clean every whit:

and ye are clean, but not all.

John 13:10

HERE we have the most significant point….because

Jesus/Yeshua used two different words, but both are translated by the English word wash.

In those days a person returning from one of the many public baths where he had bathed, got his feet defiled on the way from the bath house to his home. There was placed at the door of his home a basin to rinse the feet.

This had been omitted, for some reason, the night that the disciples entered the Upper Room.

Jesus/Yeshua arose, took the basin,

and began

to wash (niptein, to wash)

the disciples’ feet.

We know the atoning blood of Messiah cleanses from sin — all sin — and the sin of the saved souls is fully dealt with at the cross.

However we are still working out our salvation daily and daily have to deal with sin in a continual attitude of repentance. Just as the priests daily washed and cleansed themselves from sins using the Laver we are to cleanse ourselves in the Laver of Jesus/Yeshua coming to Him daily in repentance. Our past sin has been

washed [leloumenos, bathed

through His cleansing blood and through immersion we have been made Holy….

but sin in the believer breaks communion with God, and on the basis of His death, He can wash/ cleanse every child who comes to Him in repentant confession.

(wash [nipsasthoi, to wash])

As the disciples placed their defiled feet in His hands for cleansing, today we come in confession of our sins and, by so doing,

place our soiled feet in the nail-pierced hands of our Savior who cleanses us from all defilement.

needeth not save to

wash [nipsasthoi, to wash

his feet…

Fellowship is then restored with the Father.

On the way from the cross to the crown our feet get soiled, but if we confess our sins, He takes the basin and girds Himself with the LINEN/Righteousness, towel again, and cleanses us from all sin.

How humbling to know that our Lord is girded with a LINEN towel, and that with basin in hand He keeps us clean, if we place our feet in His hands by confessing our sins.

The laver spoke of this heavenly ministry of Messiah.

The laver stood between the altar and the Holy Place, where the curtain of separation was, the same that was rent at the time of His death.

The cleansing of believers by confession stands between the cross and the continual communion of the Father with His children.

The altar was for a sinner; the laver was for a sin.

The altar was where the sinner needed punishment;

The laver was where the child needed cleansing.

The altar spoke of blood; the laver spoke of water.

The altar suggests this verse of Scripture: “…Without shedding of blood is no remission” (Hebrews 9:22);

the laver points to this: “Without holiness no man shall see God.”

and the meaning of the laver as it dealt with the sin in the life of the believer.

This then contains a twofold application. The first applies to the earth and is the work of His Ruach HaKodesh/Holy Spirit. The second applies to heaven and is the WORK of the cross through Messiah and are both in relationship to the believer.

The brazen altar speaks of His death;

the brazen laver speaks of His resurrection.

At the brazen altar is forgiveness of sin;

at the brazen laver is imputation of righteousness,

“[Christ] was delivered for our offenses, and was raised again for our justification” (Romans 4:25).

Then only the priests had access to the Laver, whereas the bronze altar was accessible to all. According to scripture we are now priests so we have access to Jesus/Yeshua/The Laver.

There was cleansing by blood – pointing to justification and there was cleansing by water – pointing to sanctification.

The priests were obliged to wash their hands and their feet before entering God’s presence, to disobey would mean death (Ex.30:19-21).

Here Jesus/Yeshua was telling them He was making the WAY.

However looking a little deeper…reveals more amazing significance…

There was no floor in the court or the tabernacle therefore the priests feet would be defiled by the constant contact with the earth and the hands by the work at the altar and other work. Therefore they had to wash before any ministry at the altar, to make them clean before communion with God and before service to man.

At their consecration the priests were washed all over at the Laver before being clothed with priestly garments and anointed (Exodus 29:4-7).

They did not wash themselves at their consecration, but were washed by someone else (Lev.8:6).

Just as Messiah washes us as we are consecrated to His service.

Leviticus 8:6). That washing was for all time.

It was never repeated (perhaps a symbol of baptism? Heb. 10:22) and afterwards the priests had to wash their own hands and feet as there was to be a continual and daily cleansing at the laver.

The blood of Christ cleanses the believing sinner from all sin, but in his daily walk and service he becomes defiled and needs cleansing. His Holy Spirit indwells each believer, but sin keeps His Ruach from helping us achieve our full potential. He reveals the pathway of victory and gives power to our lives when conditions are met.

The Laver was made from the freewill gift of bronze mirrors made by the women (Ex.38:8) and enabled the priests to see their reflection.

The thought of God’s word being a Laver is seen in the New Testament, when Paul in Ephesians 5:26 writes “that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word”(NASB).

The Greek word used there translated as washing is “loutron” which means Laver and is the Greek word used in the Septuagint for the Laver in the court of the tabernacle. If in the passage we were to put the word Laver it would read

“that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the Laver of water, with the word”.

This gives the real insight of the verse,

a standing in the place of sanctification

that comes through the word of God.

For us it is through Yeshua/Jesus the Living Word.

The cleansing power of God’s word is also see in Psalm 119:9, John 15:3, 1 Peter 1:22. When we come to the Word of God, the Bible, so it is to us a mirror for our soul that will cleanse us if we are willing to apply its purifying water to our lives.

The Laver water was required also for the washing of the inward parts of the sacrifices (Lev.1:9,13) and so it is that our inner thoughts and motives need divine cleansing.

That cleansing washing was a prerequisite to entering into His presence, and still is now, we are cleansed and washed by the water of the word. Eph.5:26.

This is why it is important to read The WORD, it continually cleanses us, and remember when He spoke they only had the old Testament the new had not yet been written down.

Yeshua/Jesus is the living word and we are washed by Him and by the water of His words and by the blood of the lamb – the water and the blood.

As a nation of priests, a holy set apart nation into which we are grafted, whose hands and feet are washed. It is with clean hands and a pure heart that we are to ascend to the holy place, the hill of the Lord.

Peter would have understood the pattern of the Tabernacle given to Moses that they all followed and desired to be totally clean as that process required. He would understand later, post resurrection, that Jesus/Yeshua has fulfilled the laws of purification to completion. That no more sacrifice was needed and that He as our high priest, is able to wash, purify and cleanse us daily and then to clothe us with garments of salvation and a robe of righteousness.

This does not mean we have nothing to do, we are responsible to apply His word and keep His commandments and daily take up our cross, yoking ourselves with Jesus/Yeshua and crucifying the flesh, the natural desires.

Verse 8 He clearly tells us this is the only WAY we can be clean.

Unless I would wash you, you have no part with me!

And in verse 10

So He was saying you are ready to enter the holy place and as I wash your feet physically, the cross will make the WAY into His presence permanent.

Peter wanted to be clean by asking for his hands and head to be washed also in reference to the immersion for purification in preparation for them to enter the Holy place with their bodies as sanctuaries of the Holy Spirit.

(immersion for purification which is also called baptism; all of John’s and Jesus/Yeshua’s disciples were familiar with immersion which always followed repentance.)

The furniture found in the court, speak of an atoning sacrifice and of a cleansing as a preparation to enter into God’s presence. The same is true today to be able to come into God’s presence, to have a relationship with God we must identify ourselves with the sacrifice of Jesus Christ and be cleansed of the sin that makes the relationship with a holy God impossible.

V 10 is a ref to immersion for purification, which is also called baptism, in preparation for them to enter the Holy Place; with their bodies as sanctuaries of His Ruach HaKodesh/Holy Spirit. Immersion is the translation of both the

Heb R H T rahats/ rachatz רחץ

wash in order to remove impurity,

nothing but full-body immersion is intended

and in GK. baptidzo.

Flowing water had to be used for Immersion so it would come from sources such as a stream, spring or rainwater caught in a cistern. A mikveh which is for purification is where individual goes completely under the water 7x. (2Kings 5:10).

Most immersions were self-immersions, at the Jordan river John and his disciples would stand on the bank preaching, as people repented they would go into the river and immerse themselves with the one preaching still on the bank. Acts 2:14 – 42. As with Philip and the eunuch in Acts 8:38 some were immersed by others; on these occasions the person doing the immersing put a hand on the head of the one being immersed to hold them under the water; this forced a struggle to come up out of the water as a reminder of the dying to self and the new birth, symbolic of the struggle at birth by a newborn baby.

Around the city there were many mikvehs and the Temple in Jerusalem had multiple ritual baths where in Acts 2 it would only have taken about 20 minutes to immerse all 3000. In Jesus/Yeshua’s day each synagogue, had one or more ritual baths/immersion pools for immersion.

These were to be filled with living water from a stream, or even from a roof system to catch rainwater. In John 2:6 there is a reference to stone jars used to carry the water for purification. Normally only a synagogue would have a ritual bath so this wedding was apparently at a synagogue, which in Jesus/Yeshuas day were mostly home synagogues.

Stone was used because it does not become unclean, metal and glass containers become unclean but can be cleansed, when pottery vessels become unclean they have to be destroyed. The early ecclesia/church always immersed, sprinkling instead of immersion was made official at the Council of Ravenna in 1311 AD.

wash” instead of “bathe”

Hebrew uses the root “ṭaval/tabal” (טבל) for immersion

The Hebrew word for immersion is tevilah and means literally immersing in a ritual bath known as a mikvah.

Immersion is the act of washing performed to correct a condition of ritual impurity and restore the impure to a state of ritual purity

285 years before John the Baptist was born the Old Hebrew Scriptures were translated into Greek; and in this translation there were two Hebrew words, “Rahats” and “Tabal,” that must be rendered into Greek, and they both signified the same thing—WASHING or PURIFICATION. With this difference: Rahats signified any washing in things of common life, while Tabal was never used in this sense at all, but to express only purification from sin.

It was a religious ordinance only; hence, these translators find Lono in Greek exactly answering to Rahats in Hebrew, and they substituted the one for the other; but when they look into the Greek for a word answering to “Tabal,” it is not there!

Why?

Because the Greeks were heathens, and they had no use for a word that expressed only a religious ordinance of purification from sin.

But the maintaining of that cleanness that is known as righteousness is the responsibility of every believer by the daily exercise of applying Gods word in everyday living, to keep our thoughts and motives pure.

Justification Continued at the Laver. Christ is faithful and just not only to forgive our sins but to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” The only place where cleansing was done was at the laver. Immediately after the death of Christ (symbolized at the altar) were His burial and resurrection of which baptism is a memorial. Our burial in the water corresponds to the burial of Christ; our rising out of the water corresponds to His resurrection.

The water in the brazen Laver points to the believer judging himself, unsparingly, by that Word. The Laver of brass presents the inflexible righteousness of Christ/Messiah testing, judging His people, condemning that which mars their communion with God.

The Scriptures show us the only WAY to be clean, is through Jesus/Yeshua.

Let’s be like Peter, desiring Messiah to cleanse us so we can enter into His presence, by placing our soiled feet into His Hands.

For in reality He has washed our feet too just as much as He washed Peters. And He continues to wash them every time we judge ourselves and come before Him in repentance for sin. We are washed, immersion for purification, which is also called baptism; washed [leloumenos, bathed]

needeth not save to

wash [nipsasthoi, to wash]

his feet,

It gives another meaning to the scripture that He ever liveth to make intercession for us….not simply the meaning of intercession as prayer. We are to plunge ourselves daily beneath the cleaning flow of His blood and the washing of the water by the Word….

What He did we did not know then …but now it is later and we know!

Shalom, shalom, mishpachah!

You are greatly loved and precious in His sight.

YOU CAN BE..

SAY THE FOLLOWING FROM YOUR HEART RIGHT NOW…

Amen.

What I Am Doing You Do Not Know Now But You Will Know Later!

John 13:4 –

The disciples did not always understand what or why Jesus/Yeshua was doing or saying certain things. He also said: if you do not understand natural things how will you understand heavenly spiritual concepts John 3:12 and 1 Corinthians 2:14

In this statement in John 13 we are familiar with the usual interpretation of washing feet as being the action of humility and of submission verse12.

And another verse 16, KJV says: Verily, verily, I say unto you, the servant is not greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him. (Here we get our word apostle as it means, a sent one.)

Everything Messiah said and did had significance because He did not do anything except He heard it from His Heavenly Father.

Historically it was the local custom to offer water and to wash guests feet.

We read in

Luke 7:44 Turning toward the woman, He said to Simon, Do you see this woman? I entered your house; you gave Me no water for My feet, but she has wet My feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair.

It was not a strange thing to do or have done to you. They walked everywhere and didn’t have modern day footwear.

The roads were dusty and hot and it is a refreshing thing to have ones feet washed clean.

He was showing the humility even as their Lord and Rabbi that we should minister to one another’s needs but also showing that the Lord was not too above them in any kind of pride to not be able to be as a servant doing lowly tasks.

So if I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. For I have given you an example that you also should do just as I have done for you. John 13:14-15

It is a picture of Messiah as a servant, and His call to His followers to also be servants for His people to serve each other in the same spirit that Messiah served His disciples.

However this was not the only significance of His actions and words…

So why else did Jesus/Yeshua wash their feet?

It was as a proclamation of what He was doing for them and was going to do for them – He was going to take away their sin…He was going to bear their sin! When He died on the cross/tree as the sinless lamb of God.

We all know that if we clean someone’s dirty feet, we are going to get dirty too, some of the dirt is going to be transferred and get on us! That is exactly what happened to Jesus/Yeshua on the cross – the dirt of our sin was removed from us and covered Him.

Some Christian denominations emphasize salvation and justification by grace, through faith NOT by works. (Ephesians 2:8-9) Sometimes, with that over emphasis on salvation by grace alone, through faith alone, we might forget that it was the act /the work, that brought salvation.

It was the punishment that brought us peace/shalom.

It was actually a work…it was in fact THE WORK of all works. prophesied to happen from genesis.

The work of the cross/Tav.

What Messiah did on the cross – suffering physically; plus He also absorbed the wrath of God for all of humanities sins. It was and is the most labor-intensive action/work, in the entire history of creation. As such it is the very definition of work, and foot-washing is an illustration; and in its own way is a proclamation of the good news of the gospel – Jesus Christ/Yeshua HaMashiach and Him crucified. The picture of all our dirt, our sin and filth laid on Him.

Fulfilled from Isaiah 53:3-7 prophecy

He was despised and rejected by men, a man of suffering who knew what sickness was.
He was like someone people turned away from; He was despised, and we didn’t value Him. Yet He Himself bore our sicknesses, and He carried our pains; but we in turn regarded Him stricken, struck down by God, and afflicted. But He was pierced because of our transgressions, crushed because of our iniquities; punishment for our peace was on Him, and we are healed by His wounds. We all went astray like sheep; we all have turned to our own way; and the Lord has punished Him for the iniquity of us all. He was oppressed and afflicted, yet He did not open His mouth.

It is a picture of what Jesus/Yeshua did for His people.

So much symbolism! and even some that we may have missed.

In John 13 in the Greek,

The towel around His WAIST was a lention

λέντιον, ου, τό

(len’-tee-on)

Definition: a linen cloth, a towel
Usage: a towel, apron, coarse cloth

A linen clothlinen is representing righteousness. Is. 11:5

Righteousness shall be the belt of his WAIST,

and faithfulness the belt of his loins.

The linen that was around His waist, the same linen that He wiped away the dirt from His disciples feet was the same linen used for the garment that the High Priest wore to present the sacrifice on Yom Kippur, the one day a year when he went to place blood on the kaporet/covering/wiping away for the sins of the people.

Hebrew: הַכַּפֹּֽרֶת ha-kappōreṯ or mercy seat was the gold lid placed on the Ark of the Covenant, with two cherubim beaten out of the ends to cover and create the space into which Gods presence appeared. The word derives from the Hebrew root כ.פ.ר, and these can divided into two approaches: Lid or Cover— In its qal form, כ.פ.ר means “to cover” (as in Gen 6:14), [8] and thus can be simply translated as “cover” or “lid.” Consider also the fact that the ark is spoken of as a throne has led to the translation of kapporet as “mercy seat.” Is this translation correct as Psalm 99:1 and 1 Samuel 4:4 say literally that the Lord “sits the cherubim,” which must be understood as “sits on or above the cherubim”?

This is THE PASSION of Jesus/Yeshua, in other words, the ultimate High Priestly WORK of presenting blood upon the Ark/Altar/Heavenly Kapporet of God. Interesting note: the word used in the Septuagint to translate the Hebrew word kapporet/cover, is the Greek word hilasterios (ἱλαστ ή ριος).

We may already have known these reasons, however, there is yet another layer of meaning connected to this occasion.

Why did Peter say wash my hands and head also?

For this answer we must travel back once again into Torah. We have to remember that they were very familiar with all of the Torah and the contents of the Old Testament scrolls.

As with other scripture there are levels of understanding and meaning and each of them is relevant and applicable.

We do ourselves a disservice when we neglect or worst ignore the Old Covenant (/Testament/Tenach/Torah/Prophets /Writings). For then we miss the roots and foundation for Jesus/Yeshua fulfilling God’s plan written clearly in His word/the Scriptures for us. These scrolls of the scriptures are the foundations of Gods plan of the ages. They were written so we have a reference to be our guide.

It is over 2000 years since Jesus/Yeshua, the Door/Dalet ushered in the age of grace and the age has almost run its course; and just as in Genesis 7:16, God shut the door to the ark of Noah, the dalet/door of grace will also close. As in the days of Noah in Matthew 24:39. Let’s make sure we are on the right side of the Dalet.

The word Scriptures here refers to the Jewish Scriptures, what we call the Old Testament, which is another word for Old Covenant. We call it the Old Testament, or Old Covenant, because we believe that the Jewish Messiah has come—namely, Jesus/Yeshua—and by His death and resurrection has inaugurated a New Testament, that is, a re-newed covenant.

ie. A Ketubah (Hebrew: כְּתוּבָּה) is a Jewish marriage contract or marriage agreement/ covenant. The Ketubah is the marriage contract between the bride and the groom at the Jewish wedding.

It outlines the grooms responsibility to the bride! Yeshua/Jesus to His ecclesia/body/us!

In Israel today, the ketubah, whose name derives from the Aramaic and Hebrew root “katav,” which means “to write,” is binding under civil, as well as religious, law.

We are betrothed/engaged to Him we in relationship with Him as His כלה /Kallah/Bride. All we are waiting for is the Bridegroom/Messiah coming for His Bride/Us/Ecclesia/Called out Ones/His Body of Believers.

The disciples were also very familiar with the layout of the Temple and all the necessary sacrifices required to pay the price for sin. Which in reality is how a sinner was back then able to approach a Holy sinless God. The innocent life pays for the sin and for the sinner today of course, Messiah the sinless lamb/son of God.

These offerings are the burnt offering, the grain offering, the peace offering, the sin offering, and the guilt offering. Three of these offerings relate in particular to sin and its effects. They highlight the different ways in which sin taints the worshipper, the place of worship, and the community.

A guilt offering (Hebrew: אשם‎, romanized: ’āšām, lit. ‘guilt, trespass’; plural ashamot), also referred to in English as a trespass offering (KJV, 1611)

To take all of this situation into context, we have to remember that this was happening at Passover/Pesach. He knew that this meal was the last opportunity to minister to His disciples before His death and resurrection, John 13:1;

and with Judas still there until 13:27, when he leaves; He spoke without revealing all that was about to be fulfilled.

Jesus/Yeshua knew that He had come to fulfill all the Torah/ Law, the prophets and Writings, which is what He said to them later on the road to Emmaus Luke 24:13-35.

The cross was a mystery and until He died and was resurrected it was not fully understood. The Apocalypse/revealing of the cross sent shock waves throughout the spiritual realm.

This is one of the reasons Our heavenly Father does not always tell all the details or the timing of His plans and purposes before hand.

Mark 4:11 Mystery of the kingdom of God, the mysteries were revealed in the parables and were for those with ears to hear.

Specifically too this is surely why He said no man knows the day nor the hour of His return.

Already He had said He was the Way, Truth and Life; and during the Pesach/Passover Seder meal He was confirming He was the Passover Lamb with His body and blood, (unleavened bread, without sin and wine.) Remember John had declared Him to be the Lamb of God.

The next day he saw Jesus coming to him and said, ‘Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world! John 1:29

All He came to fulfill was prophesied in the Tenach /Torah;(Law, Prophets and Writings).

And he said to them, These are the words which I spoke to you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me. Luke 24:44

John 5:39 The Scriptures tell about me, You study the Scriptures, because you think that in them you will find eternal life. And these very Scriptures speak about me! You pore over the Scriptures because you think you have eternal life in them, yet they testify about Me.

He clearly said I have come to fulfill not to destroy Matt. 5:17-19

Recall: Fulfilling the Torah was the task of a first century rabbi.

The technical term for interpreting the Scripture so it would be obeyed correctly was, fulfill.

To interpret Scripture incorrectly, so it would not be obeyed as God intended, was to destroy the Torah.

Gods’ word is always line upon line, precept upon precept He adds to, building upon His promises.

Is 28:10 Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts. 10For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little: 11For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people.

Everything that happened was fulfilling the types and shadows of Messiah and the theme of blood and water runs throughout the whole Bible.

That is a huge subject but for this post we will just concentrate on the two questions asked.

So why did Jesus/Yeshua wash their feet?

Why did Peter say wash my hands and head also in reference to the post title? What I am doing you do you not know now but you will know later.

Again with reference to Torah, specifically, (Exodus 25-27); we have to look at and understand the reason for, and all the symbolic details of, the Mishkan/Tabernacle and the Ketubah/Covenant.

The key to the Mishkan/Tabernacle is Messiah.

It symbolized the dwelling place/throne/presence of God in the midst of His people.

As a type of Jesus/Yeshua, it symbolized the meeting between God and man and

(Heb. 9:21-24; 2 Cor. 5:19; Col. 2:9; Heb. 10:5; Rev. 21:3; Jn. 1:14 2:13-22).

The reconciliation between God and Humanity.

The pattern of the Tabernacle in the wilderness was also reflected in both the first and second temples in Jerusalem and reveals that Messiah Jesus/Yeshua is the minister of the sanctuary, our High Priest and the true Tabernacle for He is the Way the Truth and the Life.

In Acts 9:2 The WAY refers to someone who is totally committed to God. First used in Gen. 18:19. Keep the Way of the Lord, in reference to a walk with the lord A WAY of life.

Used more than 50x in the Hebrew scriptures and

12x in the Brit Hadasha (re-new-ed covenant.)

God Himself tells us,” This is the WAY walk in it”. Walking in love/truth is the Way to spiritual maturity and then the kingdom of God will be established in us. When Jesus/Yeshua said these words, He was referencing The Temple. The Sanctuary is part of the Temple and also of the Tabernacle that was set apart for the Lord.

In the diagram below…there is far more depth to this pattern which is only touched on here as connected to the Laver.

When Yeshua/Jesus spoke these words, He was painting a picture of HIMSELF. This is what He was trying to convey to them that although this was the Mishkan/Temple WAY to approach God they had been used to and they knew there is ONLY ONE WAY to enter the HOLY of HOLIES and that is through the 3 entrances.

He is the embodiment of these 3 entrances.

It is only by following HIM that we may see the Father (God).

The Temple had an OUTER COURT where sinners, even heathens were allowed and welcome, the first gateway or door,

(I AM the DOOR).

The Laver was to see one’s reflection and self cleanse.

The INNER COURT, which had the altar where people would deal with sin. It was a Holy Place and held the Menorah/7 Branched Golden Lampstand, the Table of the Bread of the Presence/Showbread and the Incense Altar. This is where the Priests ministered daily to the Lord.

Holy of Holies.      –      Holy Place    –          Outer Court

To enter the Holy Place, the Priest needed to be sanctified first.

Any Priest entering the Holy Place who had not already dealt with sin, would have been struck dead at the doorway. (Ex 28:42-43)

The Laver was located in the Outer courtyard (Ex. 40:6-7).

The courtyard surrounded the tabernacle (Ex. 40:8).

This was the bronze laver and it was filled with water, and its base was made from the women’s mirrors of highly polished bronze (Ex. 38:8). This is a great picture of a person who trusts Jesus/Yeshua for the forgiveness of sins.

The Priest needed to be sanctified first

by washing in the water of the Laver.

The Laver symbolizes our cleansing from sin – our holiness.

Once we are forgiven of our sins, God starts changing us to make us truly holy as He is holy (Phil. 2:12-13; 1 Pet. 1:16).

Water is symbolic of two concepts in scripture:

First, His Holy Spirit/Ruach HaKodesh, Who comes into our lives, convicts us of sin (John 16:8) and starts living in us to change us (John 7:37-39); and

Secondly the Word of God, which reveals to us our sin (John 15:3) and is useful for reproof, conviction, and instruction in righteousness (2 Tim. 3:16-17).

While the mirror at the bottom reminds us that we will still see our true sinful self (Rom. 7:24), it is also comforting because the symbolism reminds us that God knows in this life we are not yet perfect. We have not lost our salvation; we are just not yet free from sin in this life.

The bronze basin/ the bronze laver /kiyyor ha nechoset; used by the priests as the place of cleansing prior to entering the holy of holies to take the sacrificial blood and place it on the altar the kaporet/the lid of the ark as the sacrifice for sin of the people and also during their daily service in the Mishkan. (Remember only the high priest could go into the holy of holies once a year, to take the blood of the sinless sacrifice of the lamb without spot or blemish.)

The bronze basin stood near to the altar of sacrifice in the courtyard (Jesus/Yeshua being the sacrifice), and the priest would wash their hands and feet before ascending the altar to perform a sacrifice.

He was required to only wash hands and feet, the rest of the body being covered by the linen/righteousness the robes of office conferred.

These robes are now the robes of righteousness that we are clothed in as garments of salvation that all wedding guests must be wearing.

2 Cor. 5:21 Messiah Jesus/Yeshua, took all our sin and guilt; we received His perfect righteousness, in right standing … We stand before a Holy God dressed in robes of righteousness without spot or wrinkle.

Conclusion coming soon in part 2….

Meanwhile for those who have never been able to travel to Israel and with reference to the scriptures in Luke 17:28-30

Likewise as it was also in the days of Lot: They ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built; but on the day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all. Even so will it be in the day when the Son of Man is revealed.
