The Man The Tribe The Land – Yisrael/Israel – Prophetic In Every Way Part 3

The Land

Eretz  land  אֶרֶץ

Yisrael

pronounced: Iss-rah-el

The term

Land of Israel

is a direct translation of the Hebrew phrase

ארץ ישראל ‎

Eretz Yisrael,

which occasionally occurs in the Bible,

and is first mentioned in the

Tanakh/Old Testament in

1 Samuel 13:19,

following the Exodus, when the

Israelite tribes were already in the

Land of Canaan.

The Name Yisrael means

God strives,

it is another name of Jacob and his descendants.

ישראל

Strongs 3478

Original Word: יִשְׂרָאֵל
Transliteration: Yisrael
Phonetic Spelling: yis-raw-ale’

The name Israel was first introduced in the Bible in

Gen. 32:29. “And he said, ‘Your name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel; for as a prince you have power with God and with men.

The study of the origin of words and the way in which their meanings have changed throughout history is called Etymology.

The roots of the word Yisrael come From the verb

sarah  שרה sara:

to become rigid from the retention of liquidity,

and

 the word

el אל

 God.

and from (1) the verb

ישר yashar, to be upright,

and (2) the word אל  ‘el, God.

This name has been translated several different ways including:

he wrestles with God,

Prince of God,

he struggles with God,

and several others.

The name Israel

is actually a complete sentence in one word.

The name has three components –

Y, SR and AL.

The Y is a prefix meaning he.

The AL usually pronounced as

el is the Hebrew word for God.

The SR is the part that seems to have caused

most of the problems in translation.

The Hebrew word

SR

literally means

turn the head.

It is often translated as

prince or ruler

one who turns the head of the people.

The feminine form of this word is SRH or Sarah.

Abraham’s wife Sarah was very beautiful

and probably

turned the head

of the men who saw her.

Another word related to

SR is yasar

meaning discipline.

When you discipline your children you are

turning their head

from a path of bad to a path of good.

Because the Y is in front of the word SR

we know that this is a verb and not a noun, this is standard Hebrew grammar; and can literally be translated as

he turns the head of God.

It can be understood that when Israel, either Jacob or his descendants; speaks to God, as the Father of Israel, He stops what He is doing and turns to His son and says

What do you want My son.

Today’s name is the Hebrew name of the

Land of Israel,

E•retz Yis•ra•el.

The word

a•retz

is the general word for

land,

and eretz

becomes more specific, and it means

the land of.

The Land of Israel is one of several names for an area of indefinite geographical extension in the Middle East. Related biblical, religious, and historical English terms/names include:

the Land of Canaan,

the Promised Land,

the Holy Land, and

Palestine.

The land was called other names before being named Israel and through the centuries, the territory was known by a variety of other names, including

Canaan,

Djahy,

Samaria ,

Judea,

Yehud,

Iudaea,

Syria Palaestina

and Southern Syria.

Because of geopolitical reasons, the boundaries of

Eretz Yisrael

and, hence, the final borders of the

State of Israel,

have not yet been agreed upon between Israel and its neighbors.

The major obstacles are the territories of Judea and Samaria, which are claimed by the Palestinians as their land.

Biblically, these areas are under the definition of the

Land of Israel,

and especially those which comprise of major large parts of Jerusalem.

The official name of

Israel

in

Hebrew

is

 מְדִינַת יִשְׂרָאֵל ‎,

Medīnat Yisrā’el

or the

State of Israel.

And upon gaining independence in 1948,

the country formally adopted the name.

Israel has been the name of an ethnic group in the Levant going back at least 3200 years, based on the first known mention of the name in the written record, which was in ancient Egypt.

Based on the Bible itself, the ancient peoples of the Levant were generally named for their progenitors.

For example,

the smaller southern

kingdom of Judah

is named for Judah,

the son of Jacob.

The Levant

is an approximate historical geographical term referring to a large area in the Eastern Mediterranean region of Western Asia

with its islands

and neighboring countries.

In this post we have seen

the prophetic nature of

Israel

The Man – The Tribe – The Land

in scripture

as in just how many prophecies have been fulfilled, not least that of Isaiah; in chapter 35:1-2,

the prophet said that although Israel would become a desolate land, its deserts would one day bloom again. Isaiah lived about 2,700 years ago.

He declared that the wasteland will come to life and recent rains in Israel have caused the deserts to bloom, just as Isaiah prophesied!

These prophesies confirm and reaffirm

YHWH

Yehovehs

hand is on His chosen place and people spiritually and physically; and leaving no doubt that as each one has been fulfilled to date that everyone yet incomplete will be, in His perfect timing.

15 And God said moreover unto Moses, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, the Lord God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath sent me unto you: this is my name for ever, and this is my memorial unto all generations.

Exodus 3:15

https://www.minimannamoments.com/i-will-put-my-name-here/

His ways are not our ways and His thoughts not as ours.

As it’s only within the confines of the physical earth realm that we experience time constraints; the hour of His revealing will no doubt come as a thief in the night to the unprepared.

He has given us His Word both written and in Messiah Who was His Word made flesh.

Everything is written for our understanding so we should not be surprised or fearful of how He concludes His plan and the events of the end of the age. We are clearly given the signs/signals of their unfolding in His teaching about the very last days before His return, He told His disciples to watch Israel/Yisrael and the increasing interest that other nations show in her, as a sign/signal of His coming:

When you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then you will know that it will soon be destroyed….

This is recorded in Matthew 25, Mark 16 and Luke as well as in His Revelation in the Brit Chadashah /the new Testament; and by all the Prophets in the Tanakh/the old Testament.

Surely the end times began as Yeshua/Jesus’ physical earthly life ended. The religious leaders and many others missed the day of their visitation. It seems crazy that all the prophets had told them ahead of time what to look for, that they did not see it, and recognize the events unfolding before their very eyes as literal prophecy was being fulfilled in real time.

But their minds were blinded. For until this day the same veil remains unlifted in the reading of the Old Testament, because the veil is taken away in Christ.

And even to this day when Moses is read, a veil covers their hearts. 2 Cor.3:14.

2000+ years later let’s be sure that we do not miss the signs/signals of His imminent return according to His Word and specifically those of Yeshua/Jesus recorded in

Matthew, Mark, Luke and Rev.

For as certain as those we have just looked at have already come to pass; so will every word ..

For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass away from the law, till all things be accomplished. Matthew 5:18.

Maranatha  – Come Lord Jesus/Yeshua HaMashiach

The cup of indignation of the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob/Yisrael is full.

Once more it is at critical measure and the earth is again filled with violence as in the days of Noe/Noah and Lot. This time He is not sending a flood but fire and He is coming as judge to those who have rejected Him, His Son, and His offer of forgiveness and redemption.

The compensation is that on seeing Him,

the scripture says

all Israel/Yisrael will be saved

for they shall look upon the one they pierced.

As the veil is removed from their eyes.

inwardly

and there is no scripture that demands anyone convert to the religion of Judaism. The words of Jesus/Yeshua are clear..

For he is not a Jew who is one outwardly,

nor is circumcision that which is outward in the flesh; 29

but he is a Jew who is one inwardly;

and circumcision is that of the heart, in the Spirit, not in the letter; whose [a]praise is not from men but from God.

Romans 2:28

Let’s remain humble and thankful in a

repentant attitude of heart and mind.

In the midst of the worlds chaos

we must stay in that place of true shalom/peace.

As Job said,

I know that my redeemer lives

And it is His focus for timed events to unfold.

So do NOT be afraid or dismayed when events concerning Yerushalyim/Jerusalem are in front of our eyes and she is surrounded by her enemies once again.

Luke 21:20

According to scripture all

The Man The Tribe The Land Yisrael Israel Prophetic In Every Way Part 2

Last post we looked at the origin of the name

Israel/Yisrael

and that it began with a man called

Yaakov/Jacob.

Yaaqob  יעקב,

Y A K B

Pronounced: Ya’ah’kov

(Remember the Hebrew letters b and v are interchangeable)

When we think or speak of

Israel/Yisrael

ישראל

pronounced: Iss-rah-el

we instinctively refer to Israel the country

and not how it came into being.

Continuing our theme the next part focuses on

Israel/Yisrael

ישראל – the tribe.

The tribe of Israel began with

Jacob/Israels’children,

who are known as

Israelites

Jacob had 12 sons

(Joseph had 2 sons, Ephraim and Manasseh, who were included by Jacob into the family tribes making 13 altogether. In various scripture references some of the names are omitted and others added e.g. Dan is not listed in Revelation, however the number seems to always add up to 12. )

They became the tribes of Israel.

Shivtei Yisrael

 שבטי ישראל‎

His children and subsequent generations continue even to today.

We looked at the tribes in a previous post

The nation of Israel came from

Leah and her servant Zilpah,

Leah’s sister Rachel and her servant Bilhah.

Their 12 sons would become the patriarchs of the 12 tribes of the nation of Israel.

The land of Judah is central to Israel, and the capital of Israel, Yerushalyim/Jerusalem, was situated in Judah. King David was from Judah, and Joseph, the father-by-law of Yeshua/Jesus was from Judah as well.

By the time of Yeshua/Jesus, the name Judah has been applied to the Roman province of Judea, and the Israelites who made it out of the Babylonian exile became collectively known as Jews, meaning those of Judea.

The name Israel/Yisrael appears also frequently in the Brit Chadashah/New Testament, 78 times in 12 of the 27 books; Specifically in the 4 Gospels, Acts, the letters of Paul (where he said he was a Hebrew of the Hebrews), and Revelation.

In Greek, Israel is spelled Ισραηλ, and the ethnonym.

Israelite in Greek is spelled Ισραηλιτης and appears 9 times.

The Jewish people are referred to by many different names in the Bible.

They are called:

Israelites,

Jews,

Hebrews,

children of Abraham,

Daughter Zion,

God’s chosen people, etc.

One of the most common names for the Jewish people in the Bible is Israelites.

A second common name for the Jewish people is Jews.

The word Jew comes from the term Judah, the leading tribe of Israel.

A Jew was, literally,

one from the land of Judah,

although the word later came to be applied to any Israelite, regardless of the tribe to which he belonged. The first occurrence of the word Jew in the Old Testament is in Esther 2:5 where Mordecai is called Mordecai the Jew.

Another common name for the Jewish people is Hebrews. The first mention of a Hebrew in the Bible is Genesis 14:13

where Abraham is called Abram the Hebrew.

The term Hebrew is the same word used for both the language and the people.

It is עברי. Ivri or Ibri

pronounced Erverh

and literally means:

from the other side

and also means:

to pass through to the other side

or one crossed over.

Related to Abraham crossing over from his fathers home of idol worship to follow the call of the One True and Living God. Then prophetically to the crossing over of the Reed Sea out of Egypt and again across the Jordan River into the Promised Land/Canaan/Yisrael; and to our future crossing over into the spiritual Promised Land of the Heavenlies.

IVRI

The script used in the Torah scrolls is the original

Ktav Ivrit which was revealed to

Avraham Avinu who was the first

Ivri-Hebrew.

This script is the one with which God created the world.

The proper pronunciation in the native language of the ancient Israelites’ designation, commonly known, as Hebrew in English is IVRI

pronounced Erh-Verh.

Many believe Hebrew in this context is related to Eber, an ancestor of Abraham mentioned in Genesis 11:14–16.

Independent of the term’s meaning, its original connection is with Abraham as founder of the Jewish people.

The apostle Paul addressed the Jews in Antioch using this term in Acts 13:26Romans 9:7.

Children of Abraham, points to the relationship between

Abraham and the Jewish people.

Yeshua/Jesus and Paul both called upon Jews not only to be

children of Abraham by birth,

but to imitate the faith of Abraham.

John 8:39–40Romans 4.

The term,

Daughter Zion,

is found in many prophetic books and is

a poetic reference to the nation of Israel.

Often, the passages containing

Daughter Zion or daughter of Zion

deal with the redemption and salvation of the remnant of Yisrael/Israel, especially in the context of the coming of the Messiah/Mashiach.

Zephaniah 3:14Lamentations 4:22;

Micah 4:8Zechariah 9:9Isaiah 52:2.

In the TaNaKh/Old Testament,

God’s chosen people

is another name for the Israelites

1 Kings 3:8Isaiah 47:665:9.

This term highlights the fact that the Israelites/Jews/Hebrews have had a special purpose and calling from the time of Abraham to the time of the Messiah, and according to scripture, they will again be central in God’s plan for the future, fulfilling all prophecy.

You are a people holy to the LORD your God. The LORD your God has chosen you out of all the peoples on the face of the earth to be his people, his treasured possession. Deuteronomy 7:6.

God promised a blessing to all the people of the world through the descendants of Abraham. Genesis 12:1–3.

Yeshua haMashiach/Jesus Christ,

of the tribe of

Judah,

was born in Bethlehem/Beit lechem,

and resided in Nazareth of Galilee.

The Man – The Tribe -The Land – Yisrael/Israel – Prophetic In Every Way.

Appearing more than 2,500 times

in the Old Testament/TaNaKH

and about 80 times

in the New Testament/Brit Chadashah,

Israel/Yisrael/יִשְׂרָאֵל

is the most used name in the scriptures.

Israel/Yisrael/יִשְׂרָאֵל

It is also a perfect example of the use of a specific name and of its’ prophetic nature being fulfilled in the future connections we frequently see in biblical names.

The Man

It all began in the beginning!

Beresheet

The genesis/beresheet

of the name

Israel/Yisrael/יִשְׂרָאֵל

started with the patriarchs/fathers,

it was first introduced in the Bible/TaNaKH in

Gen. 32:29. “And he said, ‘Your name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel; for as a prince you have power with God and with men, and have prevailed.’”

beginning with

Abraham/Avraham/אַבְרָהָם.

The words: you have power

in this scripture

is rather a weak translation,

because the Hebrew word that is used in this verse is

sa-ri-ta.

It is a past-tense verb that comes from the root word

Sar.

Sar is a prince or leader,

but as it is used as a verb in this verse,

it‘s related to the main characteristic usually associated with leadership: battle/fighting.

In the verse above,

sa-ri-ta

relates to the biblical verb that means: to fight

or put a better way: to wrestle.

Here, it illustrates as:

taking the action of a prince,

leader or hero in a battle or fight.

When the word

Israel/Yisrael/יִשְׂרָאֵל

is spoken out loud

Phonetic Spelling: yis-raw-ale’

the connection between the 2 words

is clear as they sound similar.

Here we learn the origin of the word

Wrestle

and we now know the full meaning of the name

Israel/Yisrael/יִשְׂרָאֵל: wrestled with God.

Israel/Yisrael/יִשְׂרָאֵל

started with the patriarchs/fathers,

Genesis 12:50

Abraham אברהם

While many suggest that Abram means:

exalted father

and

Abraham means:

father of a multitude,

Actually both names mean exactly the same thing

father lifted up

or

exalted father.

The beginning of both names is:

אב AB/AV

meaning: father.

The letters

ram in Abram is דם meaning:

lifted,

which in the Hebrew language is a parent root.

The raham in Abraham is רהם

also means:

lifted,

a secondary root out from the parent root MR.

Strong’s Hebrew: 85. אַבְרָהָם (Abraham) — “exalted father …

In Genesis 17:5, the Lord promises Abram that he would be the

father of many nations

which in Hebrew is:

אב המון גוים, ‘ab hamon goyim

God changes Abram’s name to Abraham.

The Lord also promises that

Abraham‘s half-sister and wife Sarai

would

become nations

or rather:

become international

היתה לגוים,

 heyata le’goyim

and changed her name to Sarah 17:16.

Similar to the name Abraham,

the phrase is not related to the name.

The name Abraham אברהם

has its root from the name

Abram אברם

by adding in the letter ה he h hay hey;

in front of the final ם mem.

The name Sarah שרה

follows from Sarai שרי

by putting the same letter ה  he/h/hey/hay

in place of the final י yod.

Abraham’s father was the one who named him

אברם Abram

and it was later changed by God to

 אברהם Abraham.

As every Hebrew name has a meaning, and is always related to the character of the individual, it’s important to know what their names mean as it gives us insight to the person and also what their future may hold: especially when our Heavenly Father is the one giving or changing the name. Recall the instructions given via angelic messengers for naming John the Immerser and Yeshua/Jesus.

Then his miracle son

Isaac/Yitzak/יִצְחָק

Strong’s Hebrew: 3327. יִצְחָק (Yitschaq) — “he laughs,” son .

H3327 – יִצְחָק Yitschâq, yits-khawk’; from ; laughter (i.e. mochery); Jitschak (or Isaac), son of Abraham:—Isaac.

and then

Jacob/Yaakov/יעקב,

one of יִצְחָק/Isaacs twin sons.

Again as every Hebrew name has a meaning, and is always related to the character of the person; we see that the name

Yaakov/Jacob comes from the verb

עקב ‘abaq, meaning:

to follow at the heel

or

supplant. עקב.

The noun עקב ‘aqeb

means heel

In the case of

Ya’acov /Jacob/ יעקב,

he grabs the heel of his twin

His name was changed by God to

Yisrael/Israel/יִשְׂרָאֵל:

with a meaning:

turns the head of God.

Because there was a change in character,

there is also a change in the name.

As the story concerning each individual unfolds, provided that we focus on the Hebrew translation, we learn how the name is connected to the narrative.

English, Spanish, Greek and Latin, along with all other languages do not accurately or fully reveal how the Biblical name foreshadows the events in the lives of each personality, and secondly, the Hebrew name reflects and supports the accuracy of biblical events and prophecies.

Although reading the Bible in the English translation is understood by believers as reading truth, the immediate sense of confirmation, as reflected in the Hebrew name, is missing from the non-Hebrew reading experience.

This is just one reason why it is so important for every Bible follower to obtain some knowledge of Hebrew.

As recorded in the scripture

Jacob/Yaakov/יעקב,

had an encounter with the God of his forefathers the God who answers by fire in the form of a dream.

The ladder he saw extended from the earth to the heavens

with angelic messengers going up and down it.

He called the place the gate of heaven

And he was afraid, and said, ‘How awesome is this place! this is no other but the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven’”

Genesis 28:17

and he built an altar there.

At the river Jabbok Genesis 32:28, Jacob wrestled with a supernatural messenger/angel of the Lord,

(some scholars suggest it was the pre-incarnate Yeshua/Jesus);

and as a result of finally prevailing in the struggle he too had a name change, just as his grandfather Abraham had decades before.

Jacob became

Yisrael Israel

ישראל

from the Hebrew text in Genesis 32:28,

the form

ישראל Israel Yisrael

appears to be a compilation of two elements.

The final one is the noun

אל  El,

Who or What is Ts D K and is it Found in Bethesda? Part 2

The word

Tsedek is a masculine noun meaning:

righteousness.

Ts’dakah is a feminine noun meaning:

to do more than is required,

such as;

to do more than the minimum for someone who is hurting: to truly love your neighbor as yourself.

The term is also applied to giving beyond the tithe to charities.

Therefore Ts’dakah is translated as

acts of loving kindness.

Ts’dakah is to be done in love,

cheerfully, with no thought of reward.

And

acts of loving-kindness

Romans 5:12

Heb. 1:8 your throne God is forever and ever and the scepter is the righteous scepter of your kingdom.

The word here is Gk. Euthutes which means:

uprightness, equity, impartiality;

which are a description of

righteousness.

We are the righteousness of God in Christ

Matt. 5:6

John 6:53

Righteousness in action 5v10

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness.

Righteousness

is doing the perfect will of God

so this is hungering to do His perfect will

seeking him and His righteousness

with the whole heart and with zeal

and not giving up.

Press on for the sake of righteousness.

A good biblical example is

Noach

ish tzaddik – a righteous man.

צַדִיק
Part of Speech: Adjective
Transliteration: tsaddiq
Phonetic Spelling: (tsad-deek’)
Definition: just, righteous

Noah/Noe/Noach –

B’resheet/Genesis 6:9 – 11:32

Righteous and he was wholehearted so that with God Noah did walk

His heart was set apart from others of his day

His heart was whole because he was full of God.

Ts D K is being wholehearted in the ways of righteousness.

Only our Heavenly Father can fill us, and give meaning and purpose in our lives.

We are cautioned not to look to the world to fill us.

B’resheet/Genesis 9:12-16

When we walk righteously with God we offer Him our trustworthy service.

Sometimes in the face of YHVH/Yehoveh/Adonai’s faithfulness, we flaunt our strength in an arrogant attitude of entitlement. If we truly hope to walk with God and to be called righteous by Him, it will be according to His plan and not by our choice. Our desire then should be to live a life of devotion to God. Not satisfying our own wants or walking pridefully in our own strength, but instead, seeking after Him to fill us up and make us whole in heart.

V 14 you will be established by acts of loving kindness beyond righteousness.

Is 54 :17 acts of lovingkindness are of Me.

In Matt 9:13 when Yeshua/Jesus said,

I desire loving kindness not sacrifice:

He was quoting from Hos 6:6 here;

the Hebrew text has

Hesed or chesed.

This word is often translated as mercy.

The ideal is not to have to kill something and sacrifice its’ blood to cover our sinful ways; but to be

a tsaddik – a righteous person

and going beyond the basic requirement of

righteous living,

to show,

and be,

and

do lovingkindness

in our dealings with everyday aspects of life.

This is the WAY the Truth and the Life.

It is how Yeshua/Jesus lived and told us to

follow Him by example

doing as He did.

This is our part of righteousness.

Matt 5:6 righteousness in action and…

Matt 7:12 doing unto others as…

Acts of loving kindness = doing unto others as you would want done to you; and as we sow, so we shall reap; often not from the same people or immediately, but, all actions have consequences.

In Hebrew these acts are called Mitsvot / Mitsvah.

מִצְווֹת mitzvoth/mitzvot/mitsvot

מִצְוָה mitzvah

the feminine noun mitzvah, meaning:

divine commandment.

Mitzvot are the expression of the will of God,

and include not only an order to do something;

in its primary meaning, the Hebrew word:

mitzvah  ˈmɪtsvə /, means: commandment,

מִצְוָה ‎, [mit͡sˈva],

Biblical: miṣwah;

plural מִצְווֹת ‎ mitzvot [mit͡sˈvot],

The plural is mitsvot and it means:

religious and moral obligations.

These obligations include all commandments, statutes, ordinances, observances, teachings and testimonies. Having no exact translation, it is rendered in different contexts as

good deeds, law or command

and can also mean:

duty or obligation

which is a key concept in Jewish law.

The expression in the

Greek language

is normally translated as either:

good deeds or good works;

but it can also include

righteousness

because

doing righteousness

is a common usage: tsadee

In Matt. 6:2 charitable giving in the Hebrew is either:

Ts’dakah or Mitsvah.

Ts’dakah is from the root

ts-d-k as in our post title

and as noted earlier means:

to do right to be just;

as well as in todays understanding referring to

charitable giving, which is going beyond the tithe.

In Biblical Hebrew Ts’dakah is translated

acts of loving kindness

meaning:

going beyond what is required (righteousness) by God.

Our salvation is NOT the result of our works but

it is the cause of our works.

We are not made righteous by our works

but we do good works/mitzvot because we are righteous.

Mitsvot are the evidence that we have been made

righteous by faith.

Gen. 15:6

Good deeds/Mitsvot

are the evidence of our relationship with our Heavenly Father and with Yeshua/Jesus.

As He Himself said in Matt 7:16 you will recognize them by their fruit.

Also in Acts 26:19 Paul said

Works worthy of repentance are also called

mitsvot/mitsvah or

doing righteousness.

mitsvah: commandment

Original Word: מִצְוָה
Part of Speech: Noun Feminine
Transliteration: mitsvah
Phonetic Spelling: (mits-vaw’)
Definition: commandment

Other references: Matt 7:21; 16:27; Luke 3:8; John 5:29 Acts 26:20; Rom 2:10,13; 1cor 3:8; Eph 2:10; 2Tim 4:14 Titus 1:16, 2:14, 3:8; heb10:24; james 2:14-26; 2Pet 1:5, 3:10;1John 2:4, 3:16-18; Rev 2:5;19:8;20:12,13; 22:12.

We are made righteous

by faith and grace

but

righteousness

is also ACTION.

This is often what we miss in this term

because

we think it is something

we have or become

and NOT

something we are

to DO

The word righteousness is

the noun form of the Hebrew root Ts d k .

ts d k and the Greek verb Dikaio

both mean

to do right, to be just.

They are

verbs that require action

by the subject/person identified by the verb.

When we are

made righteous by our faith

our behavior has to change.

If it does not

1 John 2:3-6 tells us a serious truth.

There are many times in the Brit Chadashah/New Testament that we have references like Acts 26:19 quoted by Paul.

And to him and all new testament authors, the word

believe

required

action

and as in that reference, this change in behavior

comes from above, as written in Pauls reference to the

gift of righteousness

in Romans 5:17 and 6:18.

There’s much we can do to be a better person yet we can do so much more when faith and commitment to God bring us the gift of righteousness.

Paul in 1 Cor. 6:9.

We need to know that in the Hebraic mind set,

in Jewish thinking; the word

believe

requires the

change in behavior

that John was talking about in

1 John 2:3; Ezek. 18:5-9

The connection to the Hebrew name

 בית סדה

Strong’s Greek: 964.

Βηθεσδά (Béthesda)

Some manuscripts have

Beit Hi sda

meaning: House of mercy

better known as

Bethesda,

which is Hebrew according to

John 5:2

and consists of two elements.

The first part is identical to the common Hebrew word בית bayit meaning house:

The second part of the name

Bethesda

is thought to derive from the Hebrew noun

חסד hesed,

meaning kindness or fidelity:

חסד בית

Bethesda

pronounced bay-thes-dah

beth chicda’, house of mercy

or the flowing water,

It is the Hebrew name of a pool, reservoir or tank, with five porches; it was near the Sheep Gate of Jerusalem, upon which an angel of the Lord periodically descended and stirred the waters.

Bethesda

John 5:2

Beit Hesed

House of loving-kindness

Beit בית

The noun

בית bayit

means

house.

Hesed  חסד

The verb חסד hasad means

to be good or kind.

The important noun

חסד hesed

means:

loving-kindness or allegiance in a legally binding way.

Adjective

חסיד hasid

means

kind or godly.

house of loving kindness

בית של חסד אוהב

Righteousness and holiness

are the

foundation of relationships

for all of humanity.

We all have relationships; one with our Heavenly Father, another with people, and even with animals.

We are called to: do right to be just in every endeavor and we are to keep ourselves pure.

A good guide for us is according to Jesus/Yeshuas’ words: whatever you have done to the least of these my brethren you have done unto me.

If we remember that what we do is as if we have done it to Jesus/Yeshua and how we treat others we are treating Him!

It may help us to rethink some of our actions.

That is our minimum standard we are required as

Lev. 11:45, to be holy as He is.

And although none of us is perfect while in this earthly body; each of us must strive to do right and to keep pure.

Our Heavenly Father knows the intent of our hearts and sees our faith and the Blood of the Lamb.

So long as we acknowledge Him, do right (Micah again), and keep ourselves pure, we know that we have eternal life.

This righteousness is called

Ts’dakah – acts of loving kindness.

And as we are the

house/beit

in which

His Spirit of Holiness/Ruach HaKodesh

abides/lives

we can become

His Bethesda!

John 5:2

Beit Hesed – House of loving-kindness

where Yeshua/Jesus said in John 7:38

From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water but this He spoke of the Spirit, whom those who believed in Him were to receive.

The rivers of living waters of

His Ruach HaKodesh/Spirit of Holiness

are flowing from within us as, without apology,

we live out our identity in Messiah and

DO the good works

He prepared in advance for us to DO.

So it could be said that Ts D K is found in Bethesda!
