Truth vs Traditions

Truth vs Traditions –

A Pharisaical Challenge!

If challenged, would we listen to scriptural truth or, would we defend our Christian culture and keep our traditions regardless? Messiah pointed out the same issue to the religious leaders of His day. The Pharisees and Scribes declared that their old ways were good enough.

They worship me in vain; their teachings are but rules taught by men. You have let go of the commands of God and are holding on to the traditions of men.

Mark 7:7 8

Their worship of Me is but rules taught by men.

Matthew 15:10

Messiah called the crowd to Him and said,

“Listen and understand.”

Matthew 15:9

Genuine faith is founded on the Scriptures; but Satan uses so many devices to twist the Word of God and introduce error.

If we are to know what they really do teach great care is needed as we study.

One of the great distractions for us is focusing too much on how we are feeling, and claiming our honesty while at the same time ignoring the simple truths of the Word of God because  it doesn’t agree with how we are feeling. It is a sad truth that many folks have no solid foundation for their faith, as it is only rooted in feelings and emotions. Their experiences are carnal/feeling/emotional, based in external elements that cause excitement; but when that is gone, so is their faith.

Feelings are like chaff, however the word of God is the wheat. And “what,” says the prophet, “is the chaff to the wheat?”

Thus saith the LORD, “I have heard what the prophets have said, that prophesy lies in My Name, saying, ‘I have dreamed, I have dreamed’. How long shall this be in the heart of the prophets that prophesy lies? yes, they are prophets of the deceit of their own heart; which think to cause My people to forget My Name by their dreams which they tell every man to his neighbor, as their fathers have forgotten My Name for Baal.

The prophet that has a dream, let him tell a dream; and he that has My Word, let him speak My Word faithfully/truthfully.

What is the chaff to the wheat? saith the LORD…

Behold, I am against the prophets that use their tongues, and say, ‘He saith’. Behold, I am against them that prophesy false dreams, saith the LORD, and do tell them, and cause My people to err by their lies, and by their lightness; yet I have not sent them, nor commanded them: therefore they shall not profit this people at all, saith the LORD.”

Jeremiah 23:25-32

The deceivers are here – the chaff to the wheat. Chaff is separated from wheat/grain during threshing.

This expression became a metaphor in the Bible to represent separating wickedness or false doctrines from the truth. Chaff is figuratively used to stand for worthless matters.  Matthew 3:12

It is not hard to utter words of worship or assume the attitude of worship; but what is the chaff to the wheat?” The Father’s eye is upon the worshipper’s heart. His ear listens to the language of the soul. Put off, spiritually, the shoes from off your feet. Gird up the loins of your minds.

There are those who love and follow their own tradition rather than the Word of God; and when they do, their worship and service is vain. Vain in both senses of the word… because it is both prideful and presumptuous; and because it is empty when they invent religions that have no substance.

Those who think they should replace God’s Word with their own traditions are in the grip of vanity and pride.

 1Corinthians 1:18-31.

Isaiah 29:13. “…these people draw near to me with their mouths, and honour me with their lips, yet have removed their hearts far from me. Moreover, their worship toward me is the doctrines of men.”

Paying lip-service means: saying YES, with our mouth but saying NO in our heart and by our actions. It’s honoring our Heavenly Father with our lips when our heart is far from Him.

The secret of true worship is that we “worship in spirit and in truth” John 4:24. Not only must the things we say and feel be true, but they must both come from and be the prime love of our spirits, our heart’s deepest desire. It’s a sad fact that many worship with ulterior motives, the desires of their hearts are far from our Heavenly Father. For example…

Matthew 6:2-7, 16-18

tells us  that some seek their own glory and praise and some seek wealth and earthly prosperity.

They seem to be serving God, but they do so because they think God will make them rich on earth. This is not the life of true discipleship. Matthew 6:19-24

Some love and follow traditions they have invented, rather than the Scriptures. This is what Messiah Jesus was referring to quoting Isaiah, “In vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men” Matthew 15:7-9.

We worship in vain when our hearts are centered on things mentioned above, because our hearts are far from Him.

“And no one puts new wine into old wineskins; otherwise the new wine will burst the skins and it will be spilled out, and the skins will be ruined. “But new wine must be put into fresh wineskins. “And no one, after drinking old wine wishes for new; for he says, ‘The old is good enough ”” Luke 5:33–39.

“And no one after drinking old wine wants the new, for he says, ‘The old is better” Luke 5:39.

This passage is sometimes taught out of context; however it takes a new meaning when reading it in the context of what Messiah was saying.  We may have heard it said, that we need to become new wineskins to receive the new wine, but was this what Messiah Jesus was talking about? The situation at the time was that He was being confronted by some of the religious leaders who were demanding that His disciples/talmidim, should follow the traditions of the elders, and the times of fasting that were established by them.

The Pharisees and some of the scribes gathered around Him when they had come from Jerusalem, and had seen that some of His disciples were eating their bread with impure hands, that is, unwashed. (For the Pharisees and all the Jews do not eat unless they carefully wash their hands, thus observing the traditions of the elders; and when they come from the market place, they do not eat unless they cleanse themselves; and there are many other things which they have received in order to observe, such as the washing of cups and pitchers and copper pots.) The Pharisees and the scribes asked Him, “Why do Your disciples not walk according to the tradition of the elders, but eat their bread with impure hands?” And He said to them, “Rightly did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written: ‘This people honors Me with their lips, But their heart is far away from Me. ‘But in vain do they worship Me, Teaching as doctrines the precepts of men’” (Mark 7:1–7)

The religious leaders were adding new practices and new fasts, in an attempt to bring about revival, but Jesus/Yeshua objective was to bring revival by leading the people back to the teaching of the Scriptures and by showing them how to apply it to their lives in order to live righteously before the Father. Was He comparing the Scriptures to the old wine, and the new practices along with the traditions of the elders to the new wine?

“And they said to Him, “The disciples of John often fast and offer prayers, the disciples of the Pharisees also do the same, but Yours eat and drink.” And Jesus said to them, “You cannot make the attendants of the bridegroom fast while the bridegroom is with them, can you? “But the days will come; and when the bridegroom is taken away from them, then they will fast in those days.”

And He was also telling them a parable: “No one tears a piece of cloth from a new garment and puts it on an old garment; otherwise he will both tear the new, and the piece from the new will not match the old.

Is it true to say then, that Yeshua/Jesus was not trying to get people to accept the new wine? He said, And no one, after drinking old wine wishes for new the old wine is good enough. Is the new wine people’s traditions and religious practices that have no foundation in the Scriptures?

He came to fulfill the Scriptures – not to replace them. He was trying to get them to return to only what was in Scripture and by expounding on them through His teaching, He was showing them how to live by His Fathers Word and this new wine.. together BOTH are preserved.

“Then we will no longer be immature like children. We won’t be tossed and blown about by every wind of new teaching. We will not be influenced when people try to trick us with lies so clever they sound like the truth.” Ephesians 4:14, NLT

Are we also too comfortable with cultural doctrines and traditions and what we know and are used to, and reluctant to change?

It may be that we should never under-estimate the power of individuals saying, “but we’ve never done it that way,” and then observe them digging in their heels over a tradition, until the doors close in their assembly, church or school.

Would we be pharisaical in our objections to revealed truth of Gods Word as declared in Scripture?

Would we continue to repeat what we think scripture says rather than being certain what it actually does say? And isn’t that then an untruth – a lie?

How many of us could tell the so called Christmas/Nativity story in complete accuracy; or are we simply repeating what we have heard probably since childhood? Have our traditions, the traditions of men and doctrines of demons, made the Word of God of no effect literally changing the truth of God for a lie?

Romans 1:25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.

That means if we misquote scripture and both believe and declare what we think is true… we are reprobate?

How many things do we choose to believe because someone told us, or we read it somewhere (here included), and just accept it without checking it out for ourselves to see if it indeed is the truth?

And this doesn’t mean google it! Google has seemingly replaced Fathers Spirit of Holiness as our Teacher. We are often so impatient we cant wait because we want instant gratification. Scripture says to study to show ourselves approved unto God. 2Tim.2:15. How many people truly study His Word? Is study such a undesirable concept that we recoil from it with some kind of allergic aversion? Yet we will spend time reading/listening/watching other material and much of it is from ungodly sources.

We are encouraged to search all the scriptures like the noted Bereans in Acts 17:10-11, who were commended for their actions. So many of the traditions of men have become doctrinal dogma, and it appears we will defend them with a vigorous aggression which is most un-Christ-like.

Messiah Jesus/Yeshua, charges the Pharisees, Scribes and leaders with false doctrines making Gods’ Word redundant in favor of their rules and regulations and by making laws that added to the perfect Law of God.

Paul told the people, I see perceive that you are very religious, superstitious and reverent to demons! So Paul, standing in the center of the Areopagus [Mars Hill meeting place], said: Men of Athens, I perceive in every way [on every hand and with every turn I make] that you are most religious or very reverent to demons. Acts 17:22.

There are so many obvious traditions of men that are prominent around the Christmas/New Year holiday time. Many have their roots in paganism, tales, fables and legends from cultures around the world.

Our tendency is to pick up on traditions because we like them and they are fun believing they are scriptural when there is absolutely no scriptural basis at all. We have a responsibility to search the scriptures for even our most cherished traditions and resist turning them into dogma if they are not in the Bible.

Some examples that may shock us are contained in the carols, hymns and songs about the nativity we all hear at this time of year!

No where in the scripture does it say that angels sing! They are either saying, shouting, speaking, talking but never singing! We have absorbed the idea of angels singing from all those Christmas hymns, songs and the scenes of nativity plays!

Hark the herald angels sing?

O come all ye faithful, etc. etc.

In Luke 2:13

It says Maleak amar  = angels saying

mem lamed alef kap alef mem resh

Aramaic Bible in Plain English
And suddenly, the great armies of Heaven appeared with the Angel, while shouting praises to God, and they were saying:

King James Bible
And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,

In the Greek saying is:
λεγόντων (legontōn)
Verb – Present Participle Active – Genitive Masculine Plural
Strong’s 3004: (a) I say, speak; I mean, mention, tell, (b) I call, name, especially in the pass., (c) I tell, command.

Legonton means:

to speak, say, tell, or command.

And if we accept and believe Luke was written in Aramaic, the word used here is: ‘Amar, which is also speaking or saying. It does not use the word Zamar or Shir which is singing or a cry giving praise, like: Holy, Holy, Holy.

Angels are created supernatural beings so it maybe fair to say they are not physically the same as us. It is curious that commentators don’t point out that angels never sing; but that’s probably because it’s so entwined in our Christian cultural beliefs, that they are reluctant to challenge the popular traditions.

Whatever we choose to believe will not change the truth!

In heaven they cry Holy but they do not sing.

Those around the throne sing, but they are not angels they are the different than the messenger angels like Michael, Gabriel and the Heavenly Host.

Revelation 14:3 The 144,000 people stood before the thronethe four living creatures, and the elders; they were singing a new song, which only they could learn. Of the whole human race they are the only ones who have been redeemed.

They sang AS IT WERE a new SONG before the throne, before the four living creatures, and the elders; and no one could learn that song except the hundred and forty-four thousand who were redeemed from the earth.

King James Bible – Revelation 5:11
And I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne and the beasts and the elders: and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands;

This may throw some of us for a loop and hopefully compels the reader to study in order to seek truth!

There is much evidence that music is not always necessary to worship and praise our Heavenly Father. This is not condemning music in any way however historically it wasn’t really used by the ancient Hebrews; David introduced it, yet worship was entered into without music. The Psalms are the place we read of instruments and they were few and not the musical beats and rhythms we hear today. Some genres stir emotions and the result is no different to a worldly performance, whipping up a false feeling of Gods presence. We must be mindful of not bringing the worlds ways into our sanctuaries.

Historical facts show the early church would not even allow music until well into the 18th century and even then it was only singing the Psalms for this very reason. The closest the church came to music would be to chant and we see that in the Gregorian singing mostly in Latin. Angels don’t sing Let that be a lesson to us all, that many of our beloved traditions are just that, traditions and there is no Scriptural basis.

Worship comes from the heart and not a musical sound or beat.

What we choose to believe does not change truth and we should remain teachable and humble enough to allow our beliefs to be challenged. Because truth is unchangeable and if it withstands the scrutiny of study; the revealed word will confirm what the scriptures really tell us and not what misinterpretation, mistranslation, tradition, doctrine or dogma has told us. Only the truth will make us free. Why would we choose to hold onto a lie, a deception and something that’s not even real – just to protect our traditions?

Isn’t this adding to the Word that Messiah warns us of in Revelation 22:18,19? For I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book. And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

Ready for some more?

Surely we have lost count of the times we have heard the story but do we ever really stop to think…

Take another look at the story we are so familiar with:

And Joseph also went up from Galilee out of the city of Nazareth into Judea, unto the City of David which is called Bethlehem (because he was of the house and lineage of David)

to be taxed with Mary, his espoused wife, who was great with child.

And so it was that while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered.

And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling clothes and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.

And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.

And lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them, and they were sore afraid.

10 And the angel said unto them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.

11 For unto you is born this day in the City of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.

12 And this shall be a sign unto you: Ye shall find the Babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.”

13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and SAYING,

14 “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men!”

15 And it came to pass, when the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, “Let us now go even unto Bethlehem and see this thing which has come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us.”

16 And they came with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the Babe lying in a manger.

17 And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this Child.

18 And all those who heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds.

19 But Mary kept all these things and pondered them in her heart.

20 And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them.

Do we ever question the words in songs that are inconsistent with scriptures account? Maybe we can ascribe it to artistic license for the lyric writers; however over decades and centuries, these carols become gospel and not all of what we sing is truth. Do we want truth or tradition? Recalling Messiahs’ words to the religious leaders. So ask yourself these questions:

1 Why was the night watch so important that it was recorded in scripture?

2 When did the shepherds sleep if they stayed up all night watching their sheep?

3 Why did the angels appear to this specific group of shepherds?

4 Why to shepherds before anyone else?

5 Why was there a group of shepherds, didn’t they work alone?

Here are some facts from historical Jewish writings and Hebrew literature that helps to explain meanings and cultural content.

The Greek word for shepherd used in Luke 2:8 is:

Poimenes

which means:

to feed or to protect

It’s also a word for:

pasture,

as that is where the shepherd feeds his flock of sheep.

The Latin word for shepherd is pastor

as in pasture;

where we get the idea that: our pastor is our shepherd whose job it is to spiritually feed us. This is true as infants but we are all supposed to grow and learn to feed ourselves too.

Shepherds – RA’IA’

ר,עיא

Resh ayin yod alef

Luke 2:8 “And there were shepherds in the same country abiding in the field, and keeping watch by night over their flock.”

In Luke these shepherds were good shepherd because they were keeping watch over their flocks by night. Some also say ‘on a cold winters night’ but they would not have been outside if it was so cold? This is indeed something shepherds do but they do it in the spring when the new lambs are born…so this is probably not an accurate view and gives us a wrong seasonal image; we agree with it because December 25 was chosen and is traditional.

December 25th in 336, is the first recorded celebration of Christmas. and is is largely attributed to the first Christian historian, Sextus Julius Africanus, around 221 A.D.

In one view of why December 25 was chosen as the official date for Christmas, historians believe the early church wanted to link the Son of God’s birth with the “rebirth of the sun,” which arrives after the winter equinox; which begs the question why some Christians started celebrating Jesus’ birth on Dec. 25. Ancient records indicate that a feast dedicated to Sol Invictus, a sun god, was held in the Roman…Most scholars would probably agree that this is unlikely to be earlier than AD 274, the year when [Emperor] Aurelian dedicated a new temple to Sol Invictus in Rome. The pagan festivities that revolved around December 25 were so rooted in popular tradition that the Church of Rome thought to give that date a Christian religious meaning. For this, the Sun god was replaced by the true Sun of Justice, Jesus Christ, choosing this day as the date of His birth.

Shepherds were not poor as the song goes:

as to certain poor shepherds in fields as they lay…

Often like David, the shepherd was a young teen age boy usually the youngest of the family charged with keeping watch over the families livestock. Having sheep was not a poor occupation as we may imagine. Sheep and lambs were symbols of wealth and used as barter. They were a valuable commodity, worth much in financial terms instead of hard cash coins. If there was no son, the family would hire an outsider that was trustworthy. Hence the parable of the son/shepherd and a hired hand, who may not be a faithful as a son would be.

Studying ancient times/cultures reveals that a shepherd was a well respected profession in those days and every mother dreamed that her son would become a shepherd. So the idea of God announcing His sons birth to poor lowly scum of the earth, is not accurate according to historical Hebrew/Israelite life.

Why reveal to shepherds and these particular ones; and why were they grouped together?

Documented writings in Hebrew literature reveal that the sheep which were to be used for the daily sacrifice in the Temple were to be fed in the Bethlehem pastures!

These shepherds had charge of the most important sheep of all the sacrificial lambs!

These sheep were not entrusted to only one shepherd but to a team/group of shepherds; and most likely they were from the tribe of Levi.

The tribe from which the priests, the first born came.

They watched the sheep 24/7 and there were 4 distinct night shifts according the ancient clock called watches.

Evening watch

midnight watch

the cock crowing

and the morning watch.

The shepherds were not all laying on the ground fast asleep and only woke up when a great light shone on them. The Bible says clearly they were:

watching their sheep by night.

The Greek words here are:

phulassontes phuloakas

which literally means:

guarding in the guardhouses of the night.

The shepherds in Bethlehem who were guarding (not watching) these sacrificial lambs and did so 24/7 and slept in established guard houses when not working their shift/turn.

These pastures were specifically owned by the temple for the raising of the yearling ewe lambs. These were not nomadic ones who wandered all about looking for suitable grazing

A lamb raised for sacrifice had to be without blemish and without spot so they required extra special care and only the best of the best shepherds were chosen for this highly specialized task of guarding these little lambs.

In the Peshitta the Aramaic word for shepherd is Ra’a.

It comes from a Semitic root which expresses the idea of:

a deep passion.

These are the good shepherds who feel such passion for their sheep and their duty to guard these sheep that they would lay down their lives for these sheep: as we recall David did in defending his flock from lions and bears.

Messiah Jesus/Yeshua, as the Good Shepherd was a Ra’a! Yehoveh Ra ah the Lord our shepherd.

Puts a new light on the statement: John 10:11

I am the Good Shepherd …Who has such passion that I will give my life for my sheep.

And of course Psalm. 23.

These angels appeared to the best of the best of those special Levite Priestly Shepherds.

Why were they so special?

Because they had the hardest most difficult watch which was the midnight to 3am watch.

There is an ancient belief for the Jewish people that their Messiah would come at 12midnight and if these shepherds were actually Levites they would have been anticipating the arrival of their Messiah at midnight.

Think about this…. for these special, faithful, dedicated – ra’a – shepherds, to up and leave their flock – the sacrificial lambs; and to abandon their responsibilities in the middle of the night. They had to have been convinced the angels were not only telling the truth, but that they were going to worship the true – ra’a – shepherd and sacrificial lamb; Who was probably delivered in the tower of the flock – the

Did they realize that there was no longer any need for the sacrificial lambs because the true sacrificial lamb had arrived?

One final puzzle…

Tradition teaches that there was no room in the inn for Joseph and Mary and they had to settle for a stable, a cave, or a house where they put the new born Yeshua/Jesus in a feeding trough, and wrapped Him in swaddling clothes and this was to show His humble birth. Let’s look at what Scripture says:

Luke 2:7-8: “ And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn. (8)  And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.

Micah 4: 8. And thou, O tower of the flock, the stronghold of the daughter of Zion, unto thee shall it come, even the first dominion; the kingdom shall come to the daughter of Jerusalem.

Ezekiel 16:3-4, “And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD unto Jerusalem; Thy birth and thy nativity [is] of the land of Canaan; thy father [was] an Amorite, and thy mother a Hittite.  And [as for] thy nativity, in the day thou wast born thy navel was not cut, neither wast thou washed in water to supple [thee]; thou wast not salted at all, nor swaddled at all.”

Only Luke references Messiah being wrapped in

swaddling clothes.

It was a custom that eventually stopped in 26th century.

In Aramaic the term is

azrura which really means:

a bandage

used in Ezekiel 16; the Hebrew word for

bandage is: Chatal.

The practice of swaddling is very old and is believed to have originated around 4500 years ago in the bronze age circa 2600 B.C. Archeologists have found little sculptures of babies wrapped this way. After an infant was born the umbilical cord was cut and tied.

As there was no midwife as referred to in the days of Egypt the Hebrew midwives. Either Mary of Joseph would have had to do this. They would then sprinkle the baby with a powder made from dried myrtle leaves. Then they would gently rub the baby’s skin with a very small amount of salt that had been ground into a kid of mortar like paste. It was believed this would make the child’s flesh firm. For young Jewish parents, it represented a testimony that the parents would raise the child to be truthful and faithful.

The swaddling clothes was a yard of cloth, 1 meter approx., which had a narrow band attached at one corner.

The mother would wrap the child in this swaddle with its arms close to its body and its legs stretched out. She would then wind the narrow band around the body from the shoulders to the ankles until it looked like an Egyptian mummy. This would have been meant to assist the babys body grow firm and strong. To the Jewish parent it carried symbolic meaning, as most of Israelite customs do. This was a sign to the parents that they would teach the child to become honest, straightforward, and free from crookedness.

Why did Luke say it not once, but twice, again in verse 12, if every child is wrapped in swaddling clothes just how were the shepherds to know the difference?

Some say that Luke mentioned this because he was a physician and was concerned for details. Luke was not like a physician or Doctor of todays standards and this thinking comes from Col. 4:14 calling him, the beloved physician.

The Greek word is IATROS most lexicons say

physician,
ἰατρὸς (iatros)
Noun – Nominative Masculine Singular
Strong’s 2395: A physician. From iaomai; a physician.

Although the practice of medicine existed in 1s century, it was far from the skills, education and training of today. The Aramaic word used in Col 4:14 is Assai which is really a healer. An assia is not a surgeon nor a dispenser of medicine as was practiced among the romans and Greeks. An assia was more of a chiropractor who adjusted joints and dislocated bones and would have practiced a form of holistic healing. This knowledge was handed down through families with no formal medical training nor did they depend upon the practice for a living. Which supports the fact that there were so many multitudes sick and in need of healing. So he probably didn’t mention swaddling from a professional point of view.

Isn’t it more likely he mentioned it from the point of a spiritual value as he would have been familiar with Ezekiel 16:4 where the prophet refers to this custom in his prophecy? In Ezekiel 16 the prophet refers to this custom and is speaking out against the people of Jerusalem who were unfaithful to God and His commandments; and he uses the symbolic reference of washing salting and swaddling. The failure to perform this tradition was symbolic of disloyalty and unfaithfulness to God. The term swaddling clothes was to the semitic mind expressing the idea of loyalty and faithfulness to God; so maybe Luke was wanting to make sure that this child which was born, was not only the Son of the Most High, but a Son who would be loyal and faithful to His Heavenly Father. So loyal and faithful that He would lay down His life being as One with His Father – loyal unto death.

Let the reader decide

..do we really want to know truth

or,

do we want to cling to our traditions,

are we comfortable in the old ways?

Choosing to ignore facts and instead keep our cultural Christian westernized ideals, that do not reflect the origins of our Jewish Hebrew, Israelite Messiah, whose Aramaic roots were chosen by our Heavenly Father. Or are we falling into the same thing He pointed out to the religious leaders, meaning we are content with the way we are and what we believe to be truth?

Truth or tradition – it’s our choice.

Truth is freedom – tradition is bondage.

As this Gregorian new year of 2023 begins, let us not have any idols before the Lord, nor any of mens’ traditions leading us and filling our calendars; but let’s wholeheartedly follow Him the true Good Shepherd and the Word made flesh and the whole of Scripture.

The 31st of December 2022 in Hebrew is the

7th day of Tevet, the year 5783 …

and His return is closer now than when we first believed!

Shalom, shalom mishpachah/family

and cheverim/friends!

It’s all about Life and Relationship,

NOT Religion.

You are greatly loved and precious in His sight.

NOT SURE?

YOU CAN BE..

SAY THE FOLLOWING FROM YOUR HEART RIGHT NOW…

Heavenly Father I come to you in the Name of Jesus/Yeshua asking for forgiveness of my sins for which I am truly sorry. I repent of them all and turn away from my past.

I believe with my heart and confess with my mouth that Jesus/Yeshua is your Son and that He died on the cross at calvary to pay the price for my sin, so that I might be forgiven and have eternal life in the kingdom of Heaven. Father I believe that Jesus/Yeshua rose from the dead and I ask you to come into my life right now and be my personal Savior and Lord and I will worship you all the days of my life. Because your word is truth I say that I am now forgiven and born again and by faith I am washed clean with the blood of Jesus/Yeshua. Thank you that you have accepted me into your family in Jesus’/Yeshua’s name. Amen.

Are Holidays Really Our Heavenly Fathers’ Holy Days?

This season always seems to bring conflicting choices in how families decide to celebrate. There are both positives and drawbacks in how we respond; however, it’s a great opportunity to tell others of the real reason for the christians Christmas observance. So many say holidays instead of Christmas and rather than be offended by it, we can use the term to expound on the word holidays which has its roots from the word HolyDays!

מועדים

Moedim

This word moed has often been translated as festival or feast, which is not quite accurate. Moedim is plural and they signify covenant relationship with the LORD as His Appointed Times.

Strong’s Hebrew: 4150. מוֹעֵד (moed) — appointed time, place or meeting.

Original Word: מוֹעֵד

Part of Speech: Noun Masculine

Transliteration: moed

Phonetic Spelling: mo-ade’

They signify life!

We can then take the focus back to our Heavenly Fathers Appointed Holy Days, the times when He desires for us to spend time with Him in thanksgiving, praise and worship in remembrance of  Who He Is and What He has done for us.

Specifically we remember the birth of His promised Messiah and Immanuel – He is with us and as Believers, born again from above, His Spirit dwells within us.

This is an opportune time to reflect on a personal level;

first, what we actually believe; and

second, can we clearly articulate it to others?

2Tim. 2:15 encourages us to be diligent and to present ourselves approved unto God a worker who does not need to be ashamed rightly dividing the Word of truth.

We should try to state to ourselves what we believe to be the absolute truth of God and then, we will be allowing Him the opportunity to pass it on through us to someone else. If we cannot express ourselves well on each of our beliefs then we must work and study until we can. If we don’t other people will miss out on the blessings that come from knowing the truth. We could start by making a goal to re express a truth of God to ourselves, clearly and understandably; and God will use that same explanation when we need to share it.

However we must be willing to go through Gods’ winepress, where the grapes are crushed and the oil press where the olives are crushed.

It pleased Him to crush Him and it pleases our Heavenly Father to prepare us thoroughly. We too will struggle because He didn’t take our spiritual education and training away so we still have to go through it. He didn’t remove it for His disciples and emissaries… they too drank the cup.

Who are we that we think we get a free ride?

He asks us the same question today…

We must study His teaching, His words, His Torah, His Tanach and Brit Chadashah; and rehearse our words to express clearly to others, the truth of His gospel of the kingdom of heaven.

His words are spirit and life and these are the words that should come from our lips; and which make up the reality of the sword of the spirit, the active part of Eph 6 spiritual armor. His words coming from our mouths not ours…His words cut through darkness and everything that has snared people in a world of sin and negativity.

If we can be ready and prepared, then when the opportunity presents itself, the same expressions of His truth will come easily and smoothly from a prepared heart. We will not shrink back or stutter or recuse ourselves from sharing what we know and believe. It’s not just the pastors and leaders of a local congregation who are to share the gospel, it’s for everyone who declares they are a believer. Don’t take another’s words but rather, state what you believe to be the absolute truth of God and it will make others and ourselves free.

We are to daily practice to study to stir our own minds thoroughly and to think through what we have easily believed. To check out for ourselves if what we have been taught in years past is even accurate.

Our position in Christ is not really ours or established, rooted and well founded, until we make it ours – it’s a choice and it will take commitment just like any relationship /marriage takes time dedication and selfless commitment.

It takes time to study and we need to be brutally honest with ourselves because when we say we don’t have time, then in reality we are saying that we are too busy for the things of God and it’s not 1st place in our lives, where it needs to be.

The one from whom we learn the most is not the one who teaches us something we didn’t know previously though that is always helpful. It is rather the one who helps us take a truth that we have struggled with and they help us give it expression enabling us to speak it clearly and boldly.

It’s only the truth you know and apply that will make you free. Just sitting listening every week and not memorizing what is said, not writing it down and not applying it, is not a productive use of our time; because we are not to be hearers only but doers of His Word.

We are so quick to justify our actions, to compromise our chosen way of spending our time. We become defensive when our choices are challenged and call the challenge being judgmental! We protect our lifestyle at all costs and the scripture says there is a way that seems right

but the end is death.

What we choose to believe – will never change the truth.

As the western calendar draws to a close and many will make resolutions for the coming year; maybe one should be… less social media time and more Word time. Less reading what others write on facebook and instead take those hours we spend seeing what others are doing and replace it with real spiritual facetime with our Heavenly Father and read what He has written for us in His Word.

Instead of the time we spend checking our email and phone text messages, let’s check our hearts and read our Fathers messages to us

for a life of  godliness.

For what does it profit a man if he gain the whole world and lose his soul?

It is amazing that we have found time to spend on all the aspects of social media, yet still don’t have time for study. The one thing that will change us from glory to glory, that will strengthen us in the inner man, that will fortify us against the enemies onslaught. That which will cause us to be strong in Him and in the power of His might. Because faith only comes by hearing and hearing by the word. Romans 10:17

Not by any other means and

without faith it is impossible to please God.

Hebrews 11:6

Maybe it’s time to lay some of these distractions aside and make a resolution to apply that time to the things of the spirit of the living God. The time to get ready for the battle ahead, is NOT when we find ourselves in the thick of the fight, but to be ready NOW and then we will not only be able to stand..2Chron. 20:20

but also able to assist others and as a good soldier not being

entangled with the world;

entangled with the world;

but also and most importantly

to endure to the end. Jesus Messiah is no longer a baby in the manger

and neither is He still hanging on a tree,

He is resurrected,

seated at the right hand of His

and our Heavenly Father in majesty and glory

and Has made the Way for us back to having a relationship with Him.

He came and died in our place taking our sins and removing them forever by the shedding of His blood. We are forgiven and made holy – set apart…

Ephesians 2:10 “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.”  ..

and that we should share the good news of His gospel and GO and make disciples of all nations….

This is the real reason for the season

and it’s not just for Christmas

it’s for life – chaim!

Amen.

A Pontius Question?

This character is remembered for many reasons and in particular because of one of the most thought provoking questions ever asked.

Although the event is recorded in Matthew 27:1-2; 11:24; Mark 15:1-5; and Luke 23:1-5; only John 18:38 has the specific words of his inquiry.

What

is

TRUTH?

Many of us have no doubt asked the same question at some point in our lives.

Hebrew word for truth is Emet

Strongs 571 emeth: firmness, faithfulness, truth

Original Word: אֶמֶת
Part of Speech: noun feminine; adverb
Transliteration: emeth
Phonetic Spelling: (eh’-meth)

Greek word for

TRUTH

is: a-lethe-ia – alí̱theia – αλήθεια

Greek Alphabet

Latin word for Truth is

Veritas/Verity/verily as in John 5:24 Verily, verily, (Truly Truly), I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life. 25 Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live.

The question in full context:

36Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence.

37Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the TRUTH.

Every one that is of the TRUTH heareth my voice.

38Pilate saith unto him, What is truth?

And when he had said this, he went out again unto the Jews, and saith unto them, I find in him no fault at all.

It was not as the Son of God that Jesus/ Yeshua said this, but as the Son of Man.

It would not have been strange to say that as the Son of God He should have been ‘a King;’ of course He was, and much more than ‘a King.’

However even as a seemingly rejected, despised man, standing there before Pontius Pilate, He was ‘a King.’

Pontius Pilate served as the Roman governor of Judea between 26 and 36 CE. Unlike Herod the great, who was also of Jewish descent and made an attempt to honor the Jewish culture, Pilate often provoked and disrespected the people he was appointed to govern.

Known for both corruption and violence, he had a strong interest on maintaining order in Jerusalem. In 36CE, he was recalled to Rome for excessive cruelty.

This makes his desire to free Jesus/Yeshua all the more noteworthy.

Jesus/Yeshua had already declared in John 14:6

5 Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?

6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

7 If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.

ANI HU ha DEREKH, ha EMET, ha Chayim

I am the way and the truth and the life:
no man cometh to the Father, but by me.(John 14:6)

I am the way the truth and the life.

Ani ha’emet vehakhayyim

(אני האמת והחיים)

Torah Scrolls in Jerusalem

Hebrew tradition is filled with the sages’ reflections on the way (derekh) and the truth (emet) and the life (chayim) of the Jew. Each of these special words represents a universe of meaning to one who studies and reveres the Torah of the God of Israel.

In this verse from the Brit Chadasha (New Covenant), Jesus the Messiah/Yeshua the Mashiach, states that these vital words all refer to Him –

He is the beginning (Alef) and ending (Tav) of their true fulfillment and significance.

It is in Jesus/Yeshua Himself that we see the way and the truth and the life of God.

It is in the Jesus/Yeshua that we can find the fulfillment and significance that our hearts truly seek; and

it is in the Jesus/Yeshua that we find our means of drawing near to the heavenly Father.

Jesus/Yeshua states that no man will come to the Father without the means of His hand — implying that it is solely by His sovereign election and grace…

(by means of His own “outstretched hand”) that a soul can be admitted into the very presence of the Father. Thank God for the way and truth and life of the Lord Jesus, Yeshua our Savior!

        V’ha-chai-yim   v’hamet  ha-de-rekh   a-no-khi

And the life   and the truth   the way    I (am)

ya-di   ‘al  bal-ti  ha-av    el   ya-vo   lo   v’ish

Jesus/Yeshua is the Truth, and He is also TRUTH itself.

This is eternal life and spiritual abundance. Luke 12:15, 14:33

Through the WAY of Yeshua/Jesus which is obedience to the Father; doing (as He did), only what we see the Father doing.

It means walking in the Spirit of all scripture. 2Tim.3:16

All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

But not being legalistic, simply focusing on the father.

Truth is the Word of God.

John 17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy Word is truth.

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.

James 1:18 Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.

It is very clear that they are inseparable, Yeshua/Jesus is not only the TRUTH, He is also the WORD made flesh.

John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

Truth is how things really are, not as we often perceive them to be. It is often far from being comfortable, so comfort is no test of TRUTH.

The Word of scripture tell us we see through a glass darkly, it is referring to looking into a mirror and what we see reflected back is always reversed, it’s back to front.

We do not see ourselves as others see us.

Which is why we almost never like photographs of ourselves because that’s not what we see and perceive how we look!

To see through a glass — a mirrordarkly, is to have an obscure, distorted or imperfect vision of reality.

Because of this we are to learn to see ourselves as our Heavenly Father sees us. He sees us so differently from the way we see ourselves and the way others see us.

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has gone, the new has come.” 2 Cor. 5:17

“Now if we are children, then we are heirs- heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ. If indeed we share in His sufferings in order that we may also share with His glory.” Rom. 8:17

“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.” 1 Peter 2:9

The expression through a glass darkly, comes from the Apostle Paul’s writings; he explains that we do not now see clearly, but at the end of time, we will do so.

1 Corinthians 13:12 . KJ21. For now we see through a glass, darkly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; but then shall I know, even as also I am known.

What ever we choose to believe

– it will never change TRUTH.

Truth can be relied upon for it is an absolute, its parameters never move . Truth is not based on feelings that ebb and flow like the tide.

There are many things that are true, however, they are not always THE truth. And a half truth is a lie.

Perception alters truth and confusion distorts it.

Truth is the opposite of false.

Truth exists, only lies are invented.

Truth is reality revealed to a spirit attuned with the Holy Spirit/Ruach HaKodesh of the living God.

The Believers spiritual protection listed in Ephesians begins with the belt of TRUTH

It was not a thin belt with which we are familiar today it was very elaborate

and very effective as defensive armor.

John 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

Truth will make you free, truth will set you free, truth deliver you from all bondage.

However it is only the truth that you

hear,

receive,

believe

and act upon

that will result in that freedom.

Truth not acted upon will not produce results.

Truth is Yeshua/Jesus is the Messiah.

He is the Word/Torah who became flesh and restored the broken fellowship with the Father.

He redeemed us from the curse of the law of sin and death, unto everlasting life for all who will believe and receive His truth.

I AM – Anochi the TRUTH – EMET.

Emet, truth = firmness, stability.

Matthew 1:21 She will bear a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus [the Greek form of the Hebrew Joshua,Yehoshua/Yeshua which means Savior], for He will save His people from their sins [that is, prevent them from [a]failing and missing (the mark,) the true end and scope of life, which is God]. (AMPC)

The Torah

and the Prophets

and the Writings

and the New Testament

are the written Word of God.

There are extra Biblical writings some were removed in the early centuries by men of the church of Rome and were collectively called the Apocrypha.

The biblical apocrypha (from the Ancient Greek: ἀπόκρυφος, translit. apókruphos, lit. ‘hidden’) denotes the collection of apocryphal ancient books found in some editions of Christian Bibles.

These apocryphal books were positioned in a separate section between the Old and New Testaments or as an appendix after the New Testament.

(It also contained maps and geneologies). The apocrypha was a part of the KJV for 274 years until being removed in 1885 A.D.

There are also writings by the early church fathers who were getting started and becoming grounded in the teachings and passion of Jesus Christ, early Christian theologians studied Jewish thought, Greek philosophy, and Greek and Latin vocabulary in their endeavor to explain complex Christian theological concepts.

The early church fathers fall into three basic categories:

apostolic fathers,

ante-Nicene church fathers,

and post-Nicene church fathers.

The apostolic church fathers were the ones like Clement of Rome who were contemporaries of the apostles and were probably taught by them, carrying on the tradition and teaching of the apostles themselves.

Linus, mentioned in 2 Tim. 4:21, became the bishop of Rome, and Clement took over from Linus. Both Linus and Clement of Rome, therefore, are considered apostolic fathers. However, there appear to be no writings of Linus that have survived, while many of the writings of Clement of Rome survived.

The apostolic fathers would have largely passed from the scene by the beginning of the second century, except for those few who might have been disciples of John, such as Polycarp. The tradition is that the apostle John died in Ephesus around A.D. 98.

The ante-Nicene fathers were those who came after the apostolic fathers and before the Coincil of Nicea in A.D. 325. Such individuals as Ireaneus, Ignatius, and Justin Martyr are ante-Nicene fathers.

The post-Nicene church fathers are those who came after the Council of Nicea in A.D. 325.

These are such noted men as Augustine, bishop of Hippo, who is often called the father of the [Roman Catholic] Church because of his great work in Church doctrine; Chrysostom, called the “golden-mouthed” for his excellent oratorical skills; and Eusebius, who wrote a history of the church from the birth of Jesus to A.D. 324, one year before the Council of Nicea.

He is included in the post-Nicene era since he did not write his history until after the Council of Nicea was held. Other post-Nicene fathers were Jerome, who translated the Greek New Testament into the Latin Vulgate, and Ambrose, who was largely responsible for Augustine’s conversion to Christianity.

So, what did the early church fathers believe?

The apostolic fathers were very concerned about the proclamation of the gospel being just as the apostles themselves proclaimed it. They were not interested in formulating theological doctrine, for the gospel they had learned from the apostles was quite sufficient for them. The apostolic fathers were as zealous as the apostles themselves in rooting out and exposing any false doctrine that cropped up in the early church. The orthodoxy of the message was preserved by the apostolic fathers’ desire to stay true to the gospel taught to them by the apostles.

The ante-Nicene fathers also tried to stay true to the gospel, but they had an additional worry. Now there were several spurious writings claiming to have the same weight as the established writings of Paul, Peter, and Luke. The reason for these spurious documents was evident. If the body of Christ could be persuaded to receive a false document, then error would creep into the church. So the ante-Nicene fathers spent a lot of their time defending the Christian faith from false doctrine, and this led to the beginnings of the formation of accepted church doctrine.

The post-Nicene fathers carried out the mission of defending the gospel against all kinds of heresies, so more and more the post-Nicene fathers grew interested in methods of defending the gospel and less interested in transmitting the gospel in a true and pure form. Thus, they began to slowly fall away from the orthodoxy that was the hallmark of the apostolic fathers. This was the age of the theologian and endless discussions on secondary topics.

It may surprise us to see that all the denominations can be traced back to the Roman Catholic church.

The early church fathers are an example to us of what it means to follow Christ and defend the truth. None of the early church fathers were perfect, just as none of us are perfect.

Some of the early church fathers held beliefs that most Christians today consider to be incorrect.

What eventually developed into Roman Catholic theology had its roots in the writings of the post-Nicene fathers.

While we can gain knowledge and insight by studying the early church fathers, ultimately our faith MUST be in the Word of God, not in the writings of early Christian leaders.

4th c. papyrus manuscripts discovered in Egypt – written in Coptic – the language of the Egyptian Christian Church.

45 titles including the Gnostic Gospels and writings attributed to Jesus’s followers including: The Gospel of Thomas.

The Gospel of Phillip.

The Gospel of Mary.

The Gospel of Truth.

The Gospel of the Egyptians.

The Apocalypses of Paul, James, and Peter.

It was on a December day in the year of 1945, near the town of Nag Hammadi in Upper Egypt, that the course of Gnostic studies was radically renewed and forever changed.

An Arab peasant, digging around a boulder in search of fertilizer for his fields, happened upon an old, rather large red earthenware jar. Hoping to have found buried treasure, and with due hesitation and apprehension about the jinn, the genie or spirit who might attend such an hoard, he smashed the jar open with his pick.

Inside he discovered no treasure but books: more than a dozen old papyrus books, bound in golden brown leather.

Little did he realize that he had found an extraordinary collection of ancient texts, manuscripts hidden upwards of a millennium and a half before (probably deposited in the jar around the year 390 by monks from the nearby monastery of St. Pachomius) to escape destruction under order of the emerging orthodox Church in its violent expunging of all heterodoxy and heresy.

Only God’s Word is the infallible guide for faith and practice.

For the Jewish People there are also extra biblical writings and literature that are NOT part of Torah and Tanach.

Torah (sometimes called the Five Books of Moses)

Nevi’im (the books of the Prophets)

Ketuvim (or Writings.)

They include the Talmud, Midrash and Kabbalah.

Bible (Tanakh, ta-NAKH) Tanakh
Hebrew acronym for the 3 sections of the Bible: Torah (5 Books of Moses) + Nevi’im (Prophets) + Ketuvim (Writings)
To the Christian world, the Tanakh is the Old Testament.
Since Judaism recognizes the Christian New Testament as a historical, not religious text, the term Old Testament is not used. Instead it is preferable to use the term, Hebrew Bible.
Mishnah (MĬSH-nuh)
Jewish tradition holds that when God gave Moses the Torah (the Written Law) on Mt. Sinai, he simultaneously provided him all the details of the Oral Law.
The Oral Law explained how the commandments in the Torah were to be carried out.
It is believed that Moses subsequently transmitted that Oral Law to his successor, Joshua, who transmitted it to his successor, in a chain that is still being carried on.
Mishnah (Hebrew for instruction ), c. 200 C.E. is the written form of the Oral Torah created at the end of the second century.
Arranged topically, it was composed of discussions & decisions by rabbis that became the authoritative source of Jewish Law. Gemara (gə-MAR-ə) (also Gemora) (Aramaic for to study ), c CE –
The part of the Talmud that contains rabbinical commentaries and analysis of its predecessor, the Mishnah.
Talmud (TAHL-mud)
The Talmud has two components: the Mishnah (c. 200 C.E.), the first written compilation of Judaism’s Oral Law, and the Gemara (c. 500 C.E.). It is a record of rabbinic discussions pertaining to Jewish law, ethics, customs, and history.
In Jewish life the terms Gemara and Talmud are often used interchangeably.
Midrash (MĬD-räsh)
The word Midrash is based on a Hebrew word meaning interpretation.
Midrash consists of legends and stories, both educational and entertaining, which complement rabbinic theology and allows the rabbis to explain and expand on the Torah.
Prayer Book (Siddur, sĭd-OOR) Most siddurim (plural) contain the prayers, arranged in a specific order, that are used for religious services. These prayers express the beliefs, hopes and yearnings of the Jewish people for a world ruled by justice and compassion.

The Talmud, the primary source for Jewish religious traditions and laws.

The Midrash

At Pentecost- Shavuot, the giving of Torah is remembered.

Rabbinical Judaism believes that 2 Torahs were given to Moses at that time the written Torah and the Oral Torah Torah she’bal peh. (In Kabbalistic traditions there is even a 3rd or hidden torah as revealed in the Zohar.)

The Zohar is a Kabbalistic commentary on the Hebrew Bible.

The Hebrew Scriptures.
The Writings (Kethuvim)
The Law (Torah)
Genesis. Exodus. Leviticus. Numbers. Deuteronomy
The Prophets (Nevi’im)
Poetical Books. Psalms. Job. Proverbs.
Five Rolls (Megilloth) Ruth. Song of Songs. Ecclesiastes. Lamentations. Esther.
Historical Books. Daniel. Ezra-Nehemiah. Chronicles.
Former Prophets. Joshua. Judges. Samuel. Kings.
Latter Prophets. Isaiah. Jeremiah. Ezekiel. The Twelve.

The Mishnah

Mishnah refers to a collection of decisions and traditional laws embracing all aspects of civil and religious legislation. This code, which several generations of masters called Tannaim worked on, was given its final form by Rabbi Judah ha-Nasi, around the second century CE.

It is divided into six parts (or orders), which are in turn subdivided into tractates, chapters, and paragraphs.

The part is called Seder,

the tractate Masekhet,

the chapter Perek;

the smallest paragraph of the collection bears, like the collection itself, the name Mishnah.

In all, there are 63 Mishnah tractates, which contain a total of 524 chapters.

These are not actual scripture they are commentaries written by men. The orthodox Jews include the Pharisees who put heavy emphasis the added laws and traditions of men.

The other texts which are now more commonly referred to, are the Zohar and the Kabbalah.

These are the mystical texts which have roots in Babylonian alchemical Magic and sorcery and are connected to the ancient schools of esoteric mysticism, which is forbidden knowledge. (Possibly refers to the tree of knowledge of good and evil). Kabbalists strongly rely on the use of numbers within written context, using them to prove and align people, places and things which support their interpretations. The Bible Code is apparently somewhat connected to this.

They have developed a tree of life and herein are the roots of new age movement with such esoteric mystical qualities which have become more and more accepted by the mainstream.

The mystic kabbalah schools are NOT where we will find the TRUTH of Jesus/Yeshua. He is the ETZ – TREE of TRUTH and LIFE.

There may be ‘truth‘ within the knowledge, however, it is not the WAY of Jesus/Yeshua. It is not THE TRUTH of Jesus/Yeshua. It’s not the Truth and life we are to follow. He said Follow ME.

When references are included within posts, they are to show the various concepts and thinking, not to advocate compliance or adherence to those concepts or teachings. The Kabbalistic mystics use the 4th level of Pardes concerning the understanding of Scripture to an extreme degree within the mystical hidden occulted knowledge of spiritual power. This dips into the knowledge imparted by the fallen angels, evil spirits and demonic entities, which the scripture calls Doctrines of Demons.

But even so, the Spirit very clearly tells us that in the last times some will abandon the (TRUTH) true faith because of their devotion to spirits that have been sent to deceive and sabotage, and mistakenly they will end up following the doctrine of demons.

There has been a recent move towards a one world religion and even as we study the Hebrew and Greek/Latin language from the original texts; we are not to think we have to become Jewish, or any specific religious group or denomination.

There is no scripture where Jesus/Yeshua tells us to do that. He said, ‘Follow Me’.

We are believers in Jesus/Yeshua as Messiah and Savior.

MMM focus is on the Bible and on the Hebrew translation, in that, we have missed some understanding through the translation and the meaning of the words in the text.

We have a lack of knowledge concerning Hebrew idioms and the Hebraic thought processes as well as the mindset of a culture which is so opposite to our western way of thinking, which at its roots is primarily Greek.

As believers in Jesus as Messiah Yeshua HaMashiach we are

The closeness of a peace treaty in the middle east, the talk of building a third temple in Jerusalem, should stir us to realize the times in which we are living. The ultra orthodox Jews who want to build this temple are of the same spirit as in Jesus/Yeshuas day.

There is no need for a physical temple, we are the dwelling place of His spirit now. There is no need for anymore daily sacrifices, Yeshua/Jesus was the Lamb of God, the ultimate sacrifice.

However all these things must come to pass so that the scriptures will be fulfilled. Our place is to pray for their spiritual eyes to be opened and understand that our redemption is close as His return is near.

The

TRUTH

will make you free and will keep you in the WAY of LIFE

Derech HaYeshua/Yahusha – this is a blessing to the Lord for our salvation: Blessed are You, LORD our God, King of the universe, Who gave to us the way of salvation through the Messiah Yahusha/Yeshua.

Jesus/Yeahua is the fulfillment of Torahs inner meaning and message.

Many people think of Judaism as the religion of cold, harsh laws, to be contrasted with Christianity, the religion of love and brotherhood. This is an unfair characterization of both Judaism and Jewish law.

Love and kindness have been a part of Judaism from the very beginning.

Thus, Torah compels us to continual, God based, self-improvement.

It’s the ultimate self-help book.

The core mitzvah of emulating Adonai/The Lord – The Name/Hashem, is “you shall love your neighbor as yourself.”

Indeed, Rabbi Hillel famously taught that this mitzvah is the whole Torah.

Which was in fact Yeshuas’ words

He IS

So we have our answer to the Pontius Question!

Now we have the roots

of

TRUTH

and the

TRUTH

of our roots.

The Truth is that we are spiritual beings having a human experience, not human beings having a spiritual one!

Shalom alecheim!

Please don’t leave this page until you

make sure Messiah Jesus/Yeshua is your

Redeemer, Savior, Lord and soon returning King and that you have a personal relationship with Him.

NOT CERTAIN?

YOU CAN BE..

Its all about Life and Relationship, NOT Religion.

Amen.

The AWAKENING

It’s time for עוּר

Becausefor His Bride.

There is an awakening happening right now.

It begins with an individual’s personal spiritual experience in the presence of our Father.

People everywhere are looking for answers, seeking truth and thanks to Ruach HaKodesh/Holy Spirit they are finding it.

Awake, awake, put on your strength, O Zion; put on your beautiful garments, O Jerusalem, the holy city; Is 52:1

עוּרִ֥י awake

קִיץ (quts) — arise, be awake, watch strongs 6974 Phonetic Spelling: (koots)

Strong’s Hebrew: 5782. עוּר (ur) — to rouse oneself, awake

Awakenings are not new or unusual, they occur when people cry out to the Father. Believers sense something is happening and they want to know what it is and more importantly they want to get closer to Him.

In the last 2000 years there have been awakenings/revivals in nations all over the world.

Following the dark ages when the Bible was kept from the general public, Martin Luther had a personal apocalypse and an awakening followed.

There was the Welsh revival of 1904 with Evan Roberts,

the revivals of the 1700’s with

John and Charles Wesley

and

Jonathan Edwards.

History records those of the USA,

also called the first revival

and

the second revival

Some quotes from previous awakenings

Modern society has forgotten the notable Saints who’s writings have been the solace and encouragement to thousands over the centuries.

Born of confinement often from prison cells, voices of godly men and women, such as Paul Bunyan in Bedford Jail for 12 years and Mme. Guyon in France, echo across the ages, scattering and putting to flight desolation and discouragement that so often assails the human heart. It’s grip tries to squeeze out the life of the spirit that sustains it. There are countless others and this list is ever expanding.

Many others in prison for their faith and testimony. It is the epitome of Grace in human flesh to allow the Ministry of Holy Spirit to flow through an imprisoned soul when all seems lost in captivity.

Mark 7:33 and he took him aside from the multitude.

Matthew 5: (KJV)
1 And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him:
2 And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying,

Matthew 7:13 (KJV)
13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:

This new walk must show signs and changes in the heart, mind and soul.

But the gate is narrow and the way broad that leads to life because many people who have claimed to have passed through the gate, continue to walk in the broad way.

Matthew 7:13

Many people thrive in view of the multitudes and among the Saints at large, yet how would we respond to sudden confinement faced only with our own flesh?

In the silence of solitude comes the face to face encounter.

First with self and then with the Father. The disturbing realization that we really don’t know ourselves; and we certainly don’t know Him as we should. Only in the quiet place is what is with in us revealed and awakened.

A personal apocalypse!

And it is by His design. For we are accountable for our own life and there will be a reckoning.

Here is the place of awakening.

Once we’ve become a new creature/new birth, through Messiah Jesus/Yeshua, then and only then are we able to truly come to the Father and this communion is a supernatural one. It is a path of Light.

And when we awaken to The Word and The Light then we are to awaken others.

Sadly Christianity has become only about a gate. Ministers stand at the front and tell you that once you ‘walk down the isle’ that this is enough…but it’s more that the walk down the isle.

Asking Messiah Jesus/Yeshua into our hearts is only the first step.

Herein lies the gate.

The scriptures tell us that the only way a man/woman can walk through the gate is because the Father has to have made a supernatural change, and initiates a deep work in his/her life.

2 Corinthians 5: (KJV)

17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

The New birth experience, (Holy Spirit) with man reveals a manifestation, which is equal to Genesis 1, and John 1-the beginning of a new life and His Light enters our world.

This places us in quite the predicament. Because if you truly show the signs of a changed person, we must conform to the Word, not the worLd. Take the L out of your worLd and Life and leave the WORD in. The L’s of life have to go!

The List is in the Word in 2Timothy 3:1-5; Gal.5 :18-21. It’s the list of what people will be like in the last days and Mark 4 tells of the things that choke the Word of life. Love of other things Lusts/desires of the flesh. Looking back to Sodom. Longings, Lies, Loose morals, Loose living..etc

It is the ultimate goal of the pilgrim, the traveler through this realm,

For we are not of this world we are simply passing through.

It could be said that if you’re a believer, and life meets no resistance from the world, from the flesh, from the Devil…then you know you are on the broad path.

Is your life fraught with battles, fighting and conquering? Then, you know you’re on the right path.

This life is a battle. Jesus/Yeshua warns His followers that they will be persecuted because they are not of the world, but have been chosen out of the world, and therefore the world hates them just as it has hated Messiah Yeshua/Jesus (John 15:18-21). This is precisely why Messiah Yeshua/Jesus exhorts His would-be followers to first count the cost. For anyone who is unprepared or unwilling to bear a cross and follow Messiah Yeshua/Jesus, simply cannot be His disciple (Luke 14:25-33).

In choosing the right way we are to discern the state of our faith/heart. But don’t be confused we must not let the heart guide us, instead, we must guide the heart into submission to Him, to the Word – Jesus/Yeshua is the Word. For if we do not, even our hearts can lead us astray. Num. 15:40

The warnings are of a world where there are people who do not walk the walk, they talk the talk; however this is a completely different path.

There is one that leads to life.

Listen to Jesus’/Yeshua’s words:

“Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?”

He’s telling us that those who THINK they are doing right by Him are not!

Why is that?

Because they walk in the path of least resistance. They walk in the world, by the world, for the world. We need to have Conformity to the Word, NOT to the worLd! The L of the world and the world can certainly be L!

(It’s Not scripture, it’s also not wrong!)

In Truth we are spiritual beings

having a human experience –

We are NOT human beings having a spiritual experience.

There is a huge difference between those two statements.

There are Spiritual pursuits and earthly based ones.

To be enlightened or awakened does not mean that we are flawless or never make any mistakes or sin, it simply means that we are watching our own thoughts and reactions, aware that the Father above does the same over all His children.

Our awareness is heightened in that we are understanding the truth that as spiritual beings experiencing a human life, for most of the time we are within this physical form, we forget who we are.

It’s critical in this hour that we remember.

It’s essential criteria of the awakening.

The scripture tells us we are one with the Father.

If we could only grasp hold of this simple truth it would relieve our minds of the burdens of this life; they would simply melt away and our spirits would raise up and with it lift the soul and the emotions to a realm high up above, where we are supposed to be….. seated in heavenly places with Him.

We have earthly limitations.. however our hearts cry is echoed in this song as many of us question, how long ’til we awake in your likeness?

There is a part we can play, to prepare our hearts to reach for the higher realms of the Spirit of our Heavenly Father.

When we realized that like Nicodemus we must be born from above.

It is the very beginning of the awakening.

John 3:1-36; 11:11-14

After saying these things, he said to them, “Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep, but I go to awaken him.” The disciples said to him, “Lord, if he has fallen asleep, he will recover.” Now Jesus had spoken of his death, but they thought that he meant taking rest in sleep. Then Jesus told them plainly, “Lazarus has died.

Like Lazarus we are revived from being dead in sin and awaken to the true life – dead to the world and alive in the Spirit, (Ruach), of a Holy, (Kadosh), Heavenly Father.

The quickening of His spirit.

Awake oh sleeper and arise from the dead, and Messiah will shine on you. Eph. 5:14

The awakening causes us to face the reality of eternal issues and our need both to acknowledge them and to do something about it.

The awakening of a sleeping soul means that, we must not become so locked into a false sense of security, (like the proverbial ostrich or the frog in the pan), until the time to wake up has come and gone.

The quickening of the spirit/ruach, to quicken our mortal bodies and make us alive in Him. Rom.8:11.

We need to awake to His truth, to His plan, awakening the one new man because

the plan of the father ultimately to REdeem those who have always been His.

Jeremiah 1:5 Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations

RE = Second time examples like RE-view and RE-revived and RE-surrected. Re indicates a second occurrence from something that has happened previously.

Many individuals have sensed their destiny since childhood. A knowing that they were not like the mass majority. Never truly fitting in, although many attempts were made. Knowing there was something greater than the life most chose to live, which seem pointless and without a true or significant purpose.

Those ones are among the called, they are beginning to sense an awakening, a quickening, a change in the spirit, a shift in dimensions. A new alignment, a change from that which we are presently in, as the weight of eternity and His coming Glory presses from His realm into ours.

I have chosen you and I have called you. Is 43:1; John 15:16.

The balance of energies of the very Ruach/Spirit of Jesus/Yeshua is disturbing the waters and this time it’s not just the Pool of Siloam, בריכת השילוח‎ – the Breikhat Hashiloah. John 9:7

But the Waters of the very earth itself.

Once more I will shake the heavens and the earth. Hebrews 12:26 Haggai 2:6

Revive us again Lord Ps 85:6

The shaking has begun and those with sensitivity of hearing and discerning spiritual eyes, will perceive with joy, the coming changes that will ultimately bring the return of Messiah to our midst.

The sky will roll up as He returns to raise the sleeping Saints into resurrection life and then we too will be changed from mortality to immortality in the twinkling of an eye at the speed of light. (186000 miles per Second.)

For God is light.

1 John 1:5 – This is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you, that God is Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all.

He is a being of light and we are made in His image, therefore we too are beings of light.

Jesus/Yeshua said, while I am in the world I am the light of the world after I go you are to be the light of the world.

The light of His spirit in and through us is what keeps the darkness at bay. One match can cause the darkness and an entire room to dissipate. It flees from the light, from the Genesis / Begining / Bereshit /בראשית.

Be Light/Light Be

Light was the first word the Father spoke. Genesis 1:3

Light will never be quenched.

It is impossible.

It is of eternal quality and essence, of imperceivable and mysterious elements that we cannot describe or comprehend and yet it is within us. It’s what connects us to Him and to each other.

His life was the light of men John 1:4 it’s His word, it lights our path. Ps. 119:105

It is His power – the lightning’s of Sinai’s presence, the fire of His pillar, the glory of Transfiguration, we call it electricity. The hiding place of His power, Habakkuk 3:4

The glory of His manifested presence, the rhythm of life that keeps our heart beating, with electrical impulses which travel to our brain, they fire bursts of electrical energy between the neurons so we can think and function. We understand so very little, we have become dull of hearing and slow of life.

Are we settling for a spiritual pauper’s existence when the realms of light beckon? – Sometimes a shift in our position is what we need to give us a fresh perspective and it opens up possibilities we had not seen previously.

Awake oh sleeper and arise from the dead, and Messiah will shine on you. Eph. 5:14

Rise up seek His face.

Prepare the way of the Lord. Mark 1:3

It’s time to lift up the gates of our hearts for the Lord of Glory to come in. Ps.24:7

Awaken to His presence and be revived once more – leave behind the mundane, the ordinary, and become all He has called us to be.

Now is the time.

Today is the day of salvation in all of its fullness.

Draw close to Him and He will draw close to us. Seek Him while He can be found and immerse our souls in His light and be transformed by the renewing of our minds.

Allow His word to challenge and change us.

To be all that we are called to be –

the awakening is in motion.

The awakening is in progress.

Don’t miss our day of visitation.

The Resurrection changed EVERYTHING!

We are beings of His light, His glory.

It’s time to shine like never before as beings of that light.

Isaiah 60:1 Arise it’s time to Shine

The light is a metaphor for a number of concepts:

1. The 3rd Temple

2. Messiah

3. Torah

4. The primordial light of Genesis creation, which they say Father withdrew from the world and will return it in the Messianic Era.

It’s a prophesy about the magnificent future for the kingdom is coming and the glory of the Messianic era will envelop Jerusalem and Isaiah refers to spiritual illumination.

It’s another way of saying…

Let’s shine, we are part of it.

Shalom!
