A White Stone

There are many references to

a stone

in the scriptures

and we know that

Messiah Jesus/Yeshua

is the corner stone.

We are also told that our Heavenly Father

will give us a new heart of flesh

for our heart of stone.

However specifically it was a white stone that was given to the High Priest in Israel and worn in front within the ceremonial robes. This white stone was one of two stones used when seeking the will of the Heavenly Father on the behalf of the nation of the Hebrew Israelites.

The two stones were called the Urim and Thummin.

They were used to determine the answer regarding

direction and decisions, on matters presented

on behalf of the people.

by the High Priest, 

to the Lord God.

The Hebrew words “אוּרִים” (Urim)

and “תֻּמִּים” (Thummim)

are often translated as

“lights” and “perfections,” respectively.

These objects were placed within the breastpiece,

And he put the breastplate upon him: also he put in the breastplate the Urim and the Thummim.

Leviticus 8:8

These two stones are not to be mistaken with the breastplate holding the 12 stones representing the 12 tribes of Israel. The gold breastplate of judgement hung from chains of pure gold twisted like cords. In a pouch behind the breastplate were the urim and thummim.


As noted the High Priest’s breastplate held

12 stones

each one engraved with the names of the

12 tribes of Israel.

One of the stones was actually white –

The Hebrew word

יַהֲלֹם Yahalom

pronounced: yah-hal-ome’.

It was stone number 6,

signifying the 6th son of Leah – Zebulun.

What’s important about Zebulun?

We read in Isaiah 9:1-7:

But there will be no more gloom for her who was in anguish [for with judgment comes the promise of salvation]. In earlier times He treated the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali with contempt, but later on He will make them honored [by the presence of the Messiah], by the way of the sea, on the other side of Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles.The people who walk in [spiritual] darkness Will see a great Light; Those who live in the dark land, The Light will shine on them….For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given, and the government will be upon His shoulders. And He will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish and sustain it with justice and righteousness from that time and forevermore. 

and quoted in Matthew 4:15

Leaving Nazareth, He went and lived in Capernaum, which is by the sea in the region of Zebulun and Naphtali, / to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah: / “Land of Zebulun and land of Naphtali, the Way of the Sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles. “Land of Zebulun and land of Naphtali, the Way of the Sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles— / the people living in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death, a light has dawned.”

According to this interpretation, the sacred white stone is a symbol of Greco-Romans residing in Galilee who would receive light through the birth of Jesus/Yeshua.

Could the secret here be the Messiah Himself?

Could the white stone point to Jesus/Yeshua through the yahalom stone once adorning the breast of the High Priest of Israel? Perhaps?

Another intriguing possibility is with the theme of priestly attire, as written in Revelation. 

We read of a white stone in Revelation 2:17.

17.           Mee asher-oz•na•yim lo yak•shiv et asher ha•Roo•ach ma•gid la•k`hi•lot lam•na•tze•ach e•ten min-ha•man ha•sha•moor ve•na•ta•ti lo even le•va•na ve•al-ha•e•ven cha•kook shem cha•dash asher eesh lo yi•ko•ve•noo bil•tee ha•m`ka•bel.

18.       He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches; To him that overcomes will I give some of the hidden manna to eat, and I will give him a white stone, and on the stone a new name written, which no man knows except him who receives it.

“I will give him a white stone.”

This Scripture makes us think of another ancient custom which warned that if a man sins against a young woman of his tribe or of another tribe, he will be put to death.

 

However, sometimes the people accepted blood money and the culprit went free.

For the remainder of his life he lived in a white tent, or

rode a white camel,

and had a large white stone in front of his tent.

 

These were to show that no one had any right to harm him;

he is forgiven;

the price is paid

and it is now as though he had never

committed the sin.

Justified = Just as if I’d (never sinned)

 

“I will give him a white stone.”

Forgiveness,

vindication,

or

a proof of forgiveness

is shown by the white stone.

Judges 5:10 ye that sit on white asses in judgment. Palestinians aquainted with the law, religious or secular, in other words lawyers and rabbis usually select the white ass for their journeys in preference to the ordinary donkey or horse as it is much more impressive in looks and more sure footed. In Revelation we are told Messiah/Yeshua will return on a white horse.

In the first century, people understood that a white stone was a symbol of favor and overcoming against the odds.

The wording in the phrase “a white stone” is ordered differently in Greek. The Greek wording actually reads “psiephon leuken.” 

The word psiephon refers to a stone or pebble, and leuken means white.

So rather than “a white stone,” it should be literally translated,

“A stone, a white one.”

This lays a particular emphasis on the color of the stone, so we must examine the primary way “white stones” were used in early New Testament times.

A white stone was commonly associated with

a vote of acquittal 

or

a favorable vote.

This makes sense since Yeshua/Jesus took our guilt on the cross and paid the penalty for our sin in full.

The opposite was a black stone which indicated guilt.


When a Roman trial concluded, and it was time for a panel of judges to vote for the defendant’s innocence or guilt, the judges registered their votes by casting a black or white stone into an urn. A black stone symbolized a vote for guilt, and a white stone denoted a vote for innocence. When all the votes had been cast, the stones were emptied from the urn and counted one by one. If there were more black stones, it meant the judges had found the defendant guilty; if there were more white stones, it meant they had found the individual to be not guilty.

 There was another way the ancient Greeks also used white and black stones for vote-casting when elections were held in a city.

One of the greatest privileges in Greek society was to vote about civic issues in a public election. In these elections, people used white and black stones to cast their votes, similar to the way such stones were used in legal trials. Votes were customarily registered by casting a black or white pebble into large vases that were set up throughout the city at designated locations. When the time for voting had concluded, the pebbles were separated into white and black piles and then counted. A white stone represented a person voting in favor of some issue, whereas a black stone represented a person was voting against it.

 

The Nelson Study Bible also says there was a

“custom in the Greek athletic games of giving a white stone to the victor in a contest, or to gladiators at the Roman games who had won the admiration of the public and had been allowed to retire from further combat.”

This could be alluding to our faithfully keeping God’s commandments while living in this corrupt world system.

 

In Roman and Greek Games, the winner of a contest was given a white stone of the overcomer, which then gave that individual access to places of honor at events and position in society. A white stone was sometimes used as a form of identification or proof of membership; similar to today where people are given a VIP pass to enter an exclusive gathering. Similarly, when our Heavenly Father gives us a white stone, it symbolizes His approval and acceptance of us into His family.

The white stone and a new name.

It was in the book of Revelation, Messiah addressed the Church of Pergamum, which was located in what is known today as Turkey. He promised to give hidden manna and a white stone to those who overcome.

“He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give some of the hidden manna to eat. And I will give him a white stone, and on the stone a new name written which no one knows except him who receives it.” Revelation 2:17 (NKJV)

Someone who overcomes (some Bibles translate the word as “conquers”), is anyone who is saved from the second death. This means they’ve believed in their heart that Messiah died for their sins and rose again on the third day and they have turned from their sins and decided to follow Him for the rest of their life.

This scripture raises 2 questions:

What is the hidden manna and

what is meant by the new name?

We know from the book of Exodus that God sent food from heaven to feed the Israelites while they were in the wilderness.

Exodus 16: 4, 14, 15, and 31.

Now the house of Israel called its name manna. It was like coriander seed, white, and the taste of it was like wafers made with honey.
Exodus 16:31 (ESV)

Some translations say it looked like

resin, gum resin

or bdellium.

Another says not bdellium but the Hebrew word is

bdeloah = precious stone..the pearl!

The Israelites had never seen food like it before,

so they called it manna,

which in Hebrew means “what is it?”

This hidden manna

which will nourish

over-comers

probably refers to Yeshua/Jesus,

who referred to Himself as the bread of life.

I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread that I shall give is My flesh, which I shall give for the life of the world.”
John 6:51 (NKJV)

This stone in Revelation has a new name on it one that no one knows except the person who receives it?

Our parents gave us the name we have now when we were born in the physical realm; and as we are born again from above spiritually, when we are with Him we will receive a new, unique name from Him. Recall from previous posts, that names in Hebrew/Israelite culture are very important, have great meaning and often are prophetic indications on the life that bears that name.

To receive a white stone means that you are free from condemnation. You have been tried and have been found worthy. The white stone is a symbol of whom you have become through your faithfulness and your determination to rule over sin. It is Messiah/rock-solid faith and purity.

Therefore, when Messiah offered a stone, a white one to over-comers, He was placing a definite emphasis on the word white and it meant:

“I have reviewed all the evidence, and I have judged you not guilty!”

Yeshua/Jesus’ message to that church, and to us today, was that regardless of who they had been or what they had done before they came to Him, what mattered now, was who they had become in Him. As Messiah looked at them in light of His blood, He had cast

“a stone, a white one”

in their direction, affirming their full acquittal and complete release from their past sinful lives and memories.

Therefore, when the devil, or any person for that matter, tries to throw a stone of judgment against us by mentally tormenting us about past actions; we’ve already been forgiven and we may boldly answer:

Messiah Yeshua/Jesus has already cast His vote.

He has found me NOT guilty!

Regardless of any actions we may have committed in the past, Yeshua/Jesus’ blood has purged our conscience from dead works to serve the living God.  Hebrews 9:14.

At the time the book of Revelation was written, a white stone was also equated with innocence. If you were to be tried for a crime, a white stone signified acquittal, and a black stone signified guilt. To receive a white stone means that you are free from condemnation. You have been tried and have been found worthy.

 “To the one who is victorious, I will give some of the hidden manna. I will also give that person a white stone with a new name written on it, known only to the one who receives it” Revelation 2:17.

When Messiah promised a stone, a white one to the believers who overcame, He was not only announcing freedom, forgiveness, and acquittal from a past sinful life, but He was in effect also telling them:

My vote is for you. I am putting My full support behind you.

This is powerful when we fully realize what the white stone means in Revelation 2:17. It declares that Messiah has found us not guilty and that He is putting His full support behind us. 

The white stone is a very precious thing! A new name, our new name, is something that brings great hope to every believer. It speaks of a new identity and a new nature that we acquire in Him. The Biblical use of name can denote the promise of immortality meaning it’s a name that will live on forever. It also speaks to inheritance and divine appointment for a special task in this life.

This white stone would contain a new name that no man knows, except the one who receives it.  The meaning behind no one knowing your name is that no one will have power or dominion over you!

The basic Greek word translated stone is lithos. The stone is called white; but the word does not imply that it is a stone of white color, but that

it is shining, glistering white.

The word white is leukos and means:

brilliant from whiteness, dazzling white.

This was the white used to describe the angel’s raiment at Yeshua/Jesus’ tomb. This same white was used to describe Yeshua/Jesus’ garments when He was transfigured before Peter, James, and John on the Mount of Transfiguration.

“And His raiment became shining, exceeding white as snow; so as no fuller on earth can white them.” Mark 9:3.

Later the white stone took on new meanings and by the first century A.D., the white stone became an engagement stone.

However, in the first century the groom would give his bride a white stone and engraved on the stone would be a special name, the white stone became an engagement stone. It later took on the form of an engagement ring with the white stone being represented as a diamond. However, in the first century the groom would give his bride a white stone and engraved on the stone would be a special name.

The king’s diadem would probably have had a white stone set among many other stones.

Apparently the white stone had his name engraved on it. If the king were to remove that stone and give it to someone that would represent the ultimate authority a king could give to a person.

Another practice with the gemstones would be that the king would remove a stone from his diadem to give as a gift to a special servant.  

It could be a red stone which represents a certain amount of royal power being bestowed upon this servant,

or it could be a green stone, representing his restoration,

or a blue stone representing wealth or riches.  

In Hebrew the word for crown is nezer

Strongs #5145. נֵ֫זֶר (nezer) —

Crown, consecration, separation, dedication 

Derived from the root נָזַר (nazar), meaning:

“to consecrate” or “to separate.” In Proverbs 27:24  ׳אַבְּנֵי נ Zechariah 9:16 stones of a crown, gemstones, diadem. 

In fact, esoterically, the word nezer represents:

descending –

Nun,

from a joining together –

Zayin,

and a seeing with the naked eye –

Resh.  

So, when a subject received a gemstone from the kings diadem, it would represent

the power inherent in that stone

descending from the king to the subject

to join that subject with the king in common enterprise 

and the stone would a tangible object of this bond which could be seen with the naked eye.

When Solomon wrote this passage in Proverbs 27:24, it’s possible he could have had this in mind.  As a king he could have given away gemstones from his diadem, but the power they granted would not last beyond his own lifetime and could not be passed unto the next generation.  

The new name written on the white stone reflects our true identity and eternal purpose in Christ. It’s a name that speaks to who we are and the unique gifts and talents that God has given to you individually. This name reminds us of our worth and significance in our Father’s eyes, and it empowers us to live out our purpose with confidence.

This new name represents a close relationship with Him, where we can freely approach Him and experience His love, guidance, and presence in our lives.

His love has the power to change us from the inside out, molding us into the people He created us to be. With the white stone, we are reminded of His approval and acceptance, knowing that we are loved and cherished by Him.

Along with all the other meanings, the white stone reminds us we are children of the most High God, our new name represents the new nature and purpose our Father has given us, and it serves as a constant reminder of the unique and wonderful plans He has for each of our lives and how much we are loved.

A Key On A Shoulder?

One scripture that we are familiar with at this season is

Isaiah 9:6 (KJV) 6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

But we often skim over the list of titles within the verse thinking more of the actual birth than the prophetic statement within…

and the government shall be upon his shoulder:

this is connected to the verse in

Is. 22:22 The KEY Will I Lay Upon His Shoulder

How can a key be upon a child/baby’s shoulder except it is prophetic for that childs future?

Isaiah 22:22-25.

“And the KEY of the house of David will I lay upon his shoulder: so he shall open, and none shall shut: and he shall shut, and none shall open.  And I will fasten him as a nail in a sure place; and he shall be for a glorious throne to his father’s house.  And they shall hang upon him all the glory of his father’s house, the offspring and the issue, all vessels of small quantity, from the vessels of cups, even to all the vessels of flagons. In that day, saith the Lord of hosts, shall the nail that is fastened in the sure place be removed and be cut down, and the burden that was upon it shall be cut off: for the Lord hath spoken it.”

“The KEY of the house of David will I lay upon his shoulder.”

 

Again with reference to the times and the culture of the day in which these lines were written; it was the common custom for Middle Eastern and Oriental keys to be large, and people often carried their key on their shoulder.

The handle is made of brass or silver, or wood, and often very elaborately carved.

The corner of the handkerchief is tied to the ring, and the key is then placed on the shoulder, and the handkerchief hangs down in front.

Sometimes you will see men with a huge bunch of these large keys, then they will have half on one side of the shoulder and half on the other side.

For a man to be marching along with a large key on his shoulder shows that he is certainly a person of importance because the possession of a key was evidence of property or trust, an emblem of authority.

 

Often the one carrying the key would be asked whose key they had their shoulder.

HEB: וְנָתַתִּ֛י מַפְתֵּ֥חַ בֵּית־ דָּוִ֖ד.

NAS: Then I will set the key of the house.

KJV: And the key of the house of David.

KEY –  מפתח

Maphteah 

(literally) the opener,

Judges 3:25;

and in the Greek New Testament

kleis,

from its use in shutting

Matthew 16:19; Luke 11:52; Revelation 1:18.

In the Bible a KEY is used as

a symbol of authority.

In Is.22:22,

we see Eliakim the priest receiving

“the key of the house of David…on his shoulder.”

The king’s trusted servant wore the KEY

to the king’s house on a hook on his shoulder.

Therefore, he had the authority

to open or close the king’s house!

The KEY = access to Davids’ wealth which is equal to

holding spiritual treasures;

as for example,

opportunities for serving the King.

It may be where our saying has its origins that we shoulder responsibilities..

In Rev 3:7 there is similar symbolism, speaking plainly of Messiah Jesus/Yeshua having the

KEY of David.

In ancient Israel, the human king was in fact

the steward of God, the true King of the land.

Similarly, the Messiah Jesus/Yeshua is the steward of His Father’s Kingdom.

With that authority, only Jesus/Yeshua can

allow or disallow someone entrance into the Kingdom

but no man had or has that authority.

It is important to realize that the rock referred to in Matt. 16:18 is more likely to be referring to Jesus/Yeshua, and not Peter. Peter was a leading apostle/sent one, of the early New Testament Congregation/Ecclesia/Called Apart Ones of the Lord for many years,

but Peter was not its chief cornerstone

that was and is Messiah Jesus/Yeshua

as Ephesians 2:20 confirms.

Also in 1 Corinthians 10: 4;

scripture calls Jesus/Yeshua that Rock.

And It is upon this rock, Messiah Jesus/Yeshua that our faith stands, Matthew 7:24-25.

Keys are associated with locks…

A door lock of Bible times consisted of a sliding piece of wood that was pushed into a slot in the doorframe.

A catch in the frame clamped down on the lock to hold it in place.

This lock was mounted on the inside of the door. It could be opened easily from that side with a wooden key that released the catch in the doorframe. But how was a locked door opened from the outside?

The door had a hole near the lock that made this possible.

A person put his hand through the hole from the outside and inserted the key in the doorframe to open the door.

Ancient door keys doubled as door handles. They were used to reach through the keyhole to lift the locking bolt.

This locking system is also described by Solomon’s bride:

“My lover thrust his hand through the latch-opening; my heart began to pound for him” Song of Solomon 5:4

The oldest wooden lock was discovered in Iran at Khorsabad in a security gate in the palace of King Sargon II (722 to 705 BC). It is very similar to a wooden cane-tumbler lock below.

The pegs at the bit end of the key correspond to the tumblers or bars in the bolt. When inserted, the pegs could lift the tumblers, the bolt could be retracted and the door or gate could be opened.

Temple locks, or Laconian locks, consisted of a wooden bolt on guides on the inside of the door. Through a hole in the door, a person on the outside could slide the bolt back to open position using a very angular tool (key) of bronze or iron. To lock it again, a thin rope or leather strap pulled the bolt into the staples in the door frame. Ancient Greek door locks were used from the seventh century BC in Greece and were named after finds in Laconia in the southern part of Peloponnesus in Greece.

A KEY ON THE SHOULDER 

In Isaiah 22:16 he predicted that Shebna would be deposed from office and be replaced by Eliakim. Carrying a KEY on his shoulder symbolized his position of power and authority, as well as his trustworthiness.

The primitive locks of Bible time, Judges 3: 23-25; had to be opened with long wooden keys. Having the key to something denotes power and authority. You have the right to enter in and the right to refuse entry to others. In the ancient world, keys were given to the steward, a servant whom the master of the house trusted to care for the household. The long, large keys of the day were often carried on a person’s shoulder. These keys were often slung over the shoulders of those who had the authority to lock and unlock doors in the king’s royal buildings. So a key on the shoulder as a symbol of authority is probably the image behind Isaiah’s statement about the Messiah: The government shall be upon his shoulder. Isaiah 9:6.

KEYS OF THE KINGDOM

Isaiah focused on the symbolism of the keys of authority and trustworthiness when he prophesied of a day when the false steward of Jerusalem (Shebna) would be unseated and a true steward (Eliakim) entrusted with the card of the city. He said that Eliakim would replace the corrupt leaders and

“I will give him your authority . . . . I will place the key of the house of David around his neck. When he opens no one will shut. What he shuts no one will open” (Isa. 22:21-22).

This new leader would be trusted with the responsibility to care for Jerusalem.

 In Jesus/Yeshuas’ day, the experts in the law had also proved themselves unworthy to hold the keys. He said to them,

“How horrible it will be for you experts in Moses’ Teachings! You have taken away the key that unlocks knowledge. You haven’t gained entrance into knowledge yourselves, and you’ve kept out those who wanted to enter” (Luke 11:52).

This is the, ‘beware of the leaven of the pharisees’ who were keeping the people in bondage by their oral laws rather than teaching from the scriptures…the same is also true today as Solomon said nothing new under the sun!

These men had access to gain knowledge and share it with others-they knew how to read and interpret the law-but they did not fulfill their responsibility, so Jesus/Yeshua took the KEY away. This is similar to when Messiah said He had blinded those who refused to see.

At some point disobedience leads to a hardened heart that is unable to be turned back to God, and in this case Jesus/Yeshua removed their authority, as symbolized by the KEY.

The keys to unlocking truth are given to true ministers of the gospel, an important charge that they must not take lightly.

He was given the authority to explain gospel truth to others, thereby opening the kingdom to them.

This same authority rests with the church today.

We have a responsibility to

unlock the knowledge of the kingdom of heaven for others.

The second occurrence of the KEY of David is in Isaiah where it states,

The key of the house of King David was to be on the shoulder of Eliakim.

Isaiah 22:22, “The key of the house of David I will lay on his shoulder; so he shall open, and no one shall shut; and he shall shut and no one shall open.”

In this passage, beginning in verse 20, it appears that YHVH will call Eliakim and lay on his shoulders the key of the house of David.

This passage has a prophetic meaning referring to the then future Messiah.

The key of the king’s treasure-chambers and of the gates of the palace was the natural symbol of the chamberlain’s or vizier’s office, and, as in Isaiah 9:6, it was solemnly laid upon the shoulder of the new official, perhaps as representing

the burden of the responsibilities of the duties of his office.

(Eliakim as an allusion or type of Messiah/Christ).

So the key of the house of David is

symbolic for the government of Eliakim in Isaiah 22:21, which is a type or symbol of the government of Jesus Christ/Messiah Yeshua, as described in Isaiah 9. Note also that according to Isaiah, the government or kingdom of Messiah is established, or founded, on a work of judgment. This is an important aspect of the key of the house of David.

Isaiah 22:22. There, the prophet tells the palace secretary Shebna that he will be replaced by Eliakim, for God “will place on his shoulder the key to the house of David” (Isaiah 22:22). The one who holds the keys has the authority. Thus, the “key of David” implies control of David’s domain, which was promised to the Messiah in both the Old and New Testaments (Isaiah 9:7; Luke 1:32).

There are still many buildings in the Middle East which have enormous locks, and of course with keys in proportion.

Many of them are heavy to carry. These locks are made so that no false key could fit them, and they become more complicated in proportion to the number and position of the guards into which the metal drops are required to fall.

Lay upon his shoulder;

he mentions the shoulder rather than the hand, in which keys are commonly carried, either from some ceremony then in use, of carrying a KEY upon the shoulder,

either of the officer of state himself,

or of another in his name and stead;

or to signify that this was a KEY of greater weight than ordinary, and that government, which is designed by this KEY, is a heavy burden, and therefore in Scripture phrase said to be upon the shoulder, as Isaiah 9:6.

These huge locks are found on the inside of doors of gardens and outer courts, and inner rooms too. The only way the owner can unlock them is to cut a hole in the door, put his arm through the hole, and insert the KEY.

Many of the garden doors are still locked this way today.

The ancient lattice window looked very much like a fisherman’s net, and was used in warm middle eastern countries. It was formed by woven work, and highly ornamental. They also had hinges which allowed them to be open or shut. On very hot days then sun is kept out while the air is let in through the trellis openings.

In the Song of Solomon the bride says, “My beloved put his hand by the hole of the door,” that he might enter.

“My beloved is like a roe or a young hart: behold, he standeth behind our wall, he looketh forth at the windows, shewing himself through the lattice.”

– Song of Solomon 2:9

Put in his hand –

Through literally from

the hole of the lock,

in order to raise the pins by which the bolt was fastened.

The Oriental lock is a hollow piece of wood attached to the doorpost, into which a sliding-bolt is made to run. As soon as the bolt has been driven home a number of pins drop into holes prepared in it for their reception.

 

As we have seen, a KEY in the East is usually a piece of wood with pegs in it corresponding to small holes in a wooden bolt within, and is put through a hole in the door, and thus draws the bolt.

So Messiah Jesus/Yeshua “

puts forth His hand (namely, His Spirit, Eze 3:14),

by (Hebrew, ‘from,’ so in Song Sol. 2:9) the hole”;

in “chastening” Ps 38:2; Re 3:14-22,

singularly similar to this passage),

and other unexpected ways

letting Himself in (Luke 22:61, 62).

This is commonly done by means of the key (literally “opener”), but may often be accomplished by the fingers if dipped in paste or some other adhesive substance. For such a purpose the beloved inserts his fingers here anointed with the costly myrrh, which will presently be passed onto those of the bride when she rises to open to him.

My beloved put in his hand by the hole of the door,….

To remove the bolt or bar which kept him from entering in.

By the “door” is meant the door of her (Israel) heart, which was in a great measure shut against Messiah, because of corruption; and the “hole” in it shows that it was not entirely shut up, there was a little love broke out from her to him; a little light broke in from him upon her; but her heart was much narrowed and straitened, her grace low in exercise, yet there were some faith, some love.

Messiah takes the advantage of the little hole or crevice there was, and “put in his hand”; which is to be understood of powerful and efficacious grace, and the exertion of it on her; which is as necessary to awake a drowsy saint, and reclaim a backslider Acts 11:22; and this is a proof of the greatness of Jesus/Yeshua’s love to His Body/His Bride.

Even though she is dismissive towards Him, He does not utterly forsake her, but left something behind that came upon her; in that what called, knocked, and speaking couldn’t do, His hand/ His Spirit, was able to.

and my bowels were moved for him; the passions of her soul; her grief and sorrow for sin, in using him in so ill a manner; her shame for being guilty of such ingratitude; her fear lest he should utterly depart from her; her love, which had been chill and cold, now began to kindle and appear in flames; her heart, and the desires of it, were in motion towards him; and a hearty concern appeared that he should be used so unfriendly by her; that his company and communion with him should be slighted, who had so greatly loved her, and endured so much for her.

WHAT ARE MYRRH’S SPIRITUAL SIGNIFICANCE AND IMPORTANCE?

meaning HALF, or PART OF OUR BEAUTIFICATION process

Allow God to detoxify us of all bitterness, anger, offences, hurt feelings, traumas, painful memories, abuse, molestation, trauma…

We must wait in His presence to receive His HEALING,

FORGIVENESS, COMFORT,

teaching, restoration,

and AFFIRMATION…

It is 

“And the key of the house of David will I lay upon his shoulder: so he shall open, and none shall shut: and he shall shut, and none shall open.  And I will FASTEN HIM AS A NAIL IN A SURE PLACE and he shall be for a glorious throne to his father’s house.  And they shall hang upon him all the glory of his father’s house, the offspring and the issue, all vessels of small quantity, from the vessels of cups, even to all the vessels of flagons. In that day, saith the Lord of hosts, shall the nail that is fastened in the sure place be removed and be cut down, and the burden that was upon it shall be cut off: for the Lord hath spoken it.”

It was customary to build certain pegs into the house, to hang things on. Unlike temporary nails in plastered wall which can fall out overtime, these were very permanent. On such pegs trophies, shields, swords, gold and silver vessels, changes of raiment, and other valuable things were hung, for show.

in Rev. 3:7, Jesus/Yeshua refers to the key of David in these same terms. we are again reminded of the words

“And the government shall be upon His shoulder” Isaiah 9:6

 (KJV) 6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

is a prophecy about a future child who would bear the government on his shoulders and be called by titles that could only rightfully be attributed to God:

The Messiah was pre-eminently the gift of the God of love. Man had no claim on Him, and God voluntarily gave His Son to be a sacrifice for the sins of the world.

And the government shall be upon his shoulder – The sense of this passage is, that He shall rule, or that the government shall be vested in Him.

It was prophesied in Genesis 49:10 that the Lord would reign.  That says,

“The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be.”

The Word of God says in 

Matthew 28:18, “And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.”  

How right it is that the Lord Jesus should reign.  We read in 

Revelation 19:16

that He is the, “…KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.”  

Isaiah 9:7

tells us that, “Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end.”

Which government does Messiah hold on His shoulder?  

Is it not true that He holds all of them?  The Lord is called the “God of Israel” Over 200 times in scripture.  He certainly reigns over all human governments.  

Daniel 4:17 says, “This matter is by the decree of the watchers, and the demand by the word of the holy ones: to the intent that the living may know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will, and setteth up over it the basest of men.”

Messiah certainly governs His church as we read in 

Colossians 1:18, “And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.” 

 Messiah Jesus/Yeshua will rule on the earth during His 1000 year reign. 

 Matthew 25 tells us of the judgment of the nations at the end of the time of Tribulation to determine who will enter this kingdom.  

We read in 

Matthew 25:32-34, “And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats: And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left. Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.”

the power and tender love of our blessed redeemer.  

Isaiah 9:6 tells us that, “the government shall be upon his shoulder.”  And yet, when rescuing one of His precious lambs, in Luke 15:5, we read “And when he hath found it, he layeth it on his shoulders, rejoicing.”  

While the government is on His ‘shoulder’, His lambs are securely and tenderly held on His ‘shoulders.’  Not only does He hold us on His strong shoulders, He rejoices in our salvation. And we are indeed

FORGIVEN

WHAT DOES THE KEY OPEN?

There is the opening vision of the ascended Messiah

(Revelation 1:18).

There is the historical backdrop of this terminology

(Isaiah 22).

Jesus/Yeshua exercises absolute power to control entry into the kingdom of God.

What are the IMPLICATIONS FOR THE Ecclesia/Called out ones?

We should be consoled knowing that our access to the kingdom is secure. (Matthew 5:16, John 14:12a).

We should be confident knowing that Jesus/Yeshua is opening doors for lost people to enter the kingdom.

(John 6:44, Ephesians 1:4-5, Luke 16:16).

We should be sobered knowing that not everyone will be admitted into the kingdom.

(Matthew 7:21, Revelation 22:14-15).

We should be humbled knowing that the authority of the kingdom has been entrusted to the church.

(Matthew 16:19).

There is only one way to enter the kingdom,

through the

“narrow gate” 

How?

Through a covenant relationship with Jesus/Yeshua.

He is The

KEY

and it is upon

HIS SHOULDER.

What or Where is Har Megiddon – Armageddon?

The end times is a hot topic these days and Armageddon is often involved in such discussions… This post offers some insights and also suggests food for thought, as well as possible answers to some of those most frequently posed questions. As always scripture is the base for all subsequent writing; and every reader is strongly encouraged to research and study God’s Word for themselves and to take everything before the Lord in prayer.

Meaning in Hebrew: Hill of Megiddo

Revelation 16:16; Judges 4 & 5:19;

2Kings 9:27;23:29; Zech 12:11

 

According to the Book of Revelation,

Armageddon (/ ˌ ɑːr m ə ˈ ɡ ɛ d ən /,

from Ancient Greek: Ἁρμαγεδών

Ἐβραϊστί Ἃρ Μαγεδών 

Harmagedōn,

or

Armageddon.

Late Latin: Armagedōn,

taken from the Hebrew: הר מגידו ‎ Har Megiddo

It is the prophesied location of a gathering of armies for a battle during the end of the age, variously interpreted as either a literal or a symbolic location.

Although Armageddon is a Hebrew word, it does not occur specifically in the Old Testament. Its meaning has raised questions, however it is best understood to mean

Mount Megiddo, since 

Har in Hebrew means mountain

and Mageddon is the place-name of Megiddo.

Armageddon is the symbolic name given to this event, based on scripture references regarding divine obliteration of God’s enemies.

The hermeneutical method supports this position by referencing Judges 4 and 5 where God miraculously destroys the enemy of Israel, at Megiddo.

Another Armageddon definition is – the site or time of a final and conclusive battle between the forces of good and evil.  (Probably so called in reference to the battlefield of Megiddo.)

The actual word for Armageddon only appears once in the Bible (Revelation 16:16). Even though most of the New Testament is written in Greek, this comes from the Hebrew word which as already mentioned means, Mount Megiddo.

in the New Testament, it is a place where the kings of the earth under demonic leadership will wage war on the forces of God at the end of history.

Armageddon,

sometimes rendered Har– Magedon 

(Hebrew: Har Meghiddohn),

here it is translated: Mountain of Megiddo.

Megiddo was once a city in the territory of ancient Israel.

History tells of decisive battles that were fought in its vicinity, including some that are recorded in the Bible.

 The place we know as Armageddon was also the site for two great tragedies:

1) the death of Saul and his sons (1 Samuel 31:8) and

2) the death of King Josiah (2 Kings 23:29-30; 2 Chronicles 35:22).

It is probably because of this history, the valley of Armageddon became a symbol of the final conflict between God and the forces of evil.

It is the name of a real place, 56 miles north of Jerusalem.

it is approximately thirty miles wide by two hundred miles long.

Is it also a war, or is this just a symbolic reference to a future event that will be particularly destructive?

Armageddon is mentioned in the Bible in the Revelation to John, or the Apocalypse of St. John (16:16).

Really it is the:

Revelation of Jesus Christ/Yeshua HaMashiach/Yeshua the Messiah, which was given to John.

Revelation [N] is an uncovering, a bringing to light of that which had been previously wholly hidden or only obscurely seen.

God has been pleased in various ways and at different times Hebrews 1:1 

to make a supernatural revelation of himself and his purposes and plans, which, under the guidance of his Spirit, has been committed to writing.

The Greek name of the Bible book of Revelation,

A·po·kaʹly·psis (apocalypse), means:

Uncovering or Disclosure.

This name indicates the meaning of Revelation —it uncovers matters that had been hidden and discloses events some, that would happen long after it was written.

Megiddo,

The city is located on a pass and commanding a road connecting Egypt and Syria; it was probably chosen as a symbol for such a battle, because it had been the scene of many previous battles.

noun זִרַת מִלחָמָה. Armageddon

The meaning of the word Armageddon is placed in the text, and is actually a compound of two thoughts.

The first part is taken from the Hebrew har. הַר

as this word means mountain or the place of.

The word megiddo is taken from the 

Hebrew root gadad (גדד).

This word means a gathering, to divide or cut.

 

Strong’s Greek: 717. Ἀρμαγεδδών

(Harmagedón) — Har-Magedon 

Every scholar will attest that  

Armageddon is the GREEK rendering of the 2 Hebrew words.

They are Har and Megiddon.

Har is the word for mountain and

Megiddon means

a place of crowds.

Those armies came together in a place that in Hebrew is called Armageddon. Then the spirits brought the kings together in the place that in Hebrew is called Armageddon. So they assembled them at the place called in Hebrew, Armageddon.

Is there anything in the pictures that point to Yeshua HaMashiach Jesus the Messiah?

There is a curiosity within most people of wanting to know the future and more specifically what will happen to us as individuals. If we know beforehand whether it’s good or bad, we think we can hopefully prepare for either.

The Bible is filled with prophecies that describe many remaining future events in great detail so it’s the best place to look for future events and our final destination and probable events that will unfold prior to our reaching that destination.

One future event mentioned in scripture is an event often called the Battle of Armageddon.

It is mentioned more these days than ever before.

In the scriptures it’s described as not just a battle but also a place where in the future, a war the likes of which the world has never seen will take place.

We saw that in the Greek Translation of the New Testament The word Armageddon only occurs once and is used by the apostle John in Revelation 16:16:

“And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon.”

In verse 14 John tells us who is doing the gathering and who is being gathered:

“For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.”

 

John earlier described this war of destruction which is the culmination of God’s wrath in Rev. 6:17:

“For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?”

 

Taking a closer look at the Hebrew pictographs about this war and place of destruction;

pay attention to what follows.

the prince.

 The pictures in Har depict behold the prince.

But what is the connection to mountain or hill, is it of any significance?

Is there a specific prince to whom this is referring?

Here we take a journey back to the time when Moses wrote about the Akedah.

Where in Genesis 22:14 Abraham was to offer his only son Isaac to the LORD, and at the very last moment God provided another sacrifice to take his place:

“And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovah jireh as it is said to this day. In the mount of the LORD it shall be seen.”  

This mount (HAR) was identified as being in the land of Moriah

and is believed to be the identical location where Solomon built the temple in Jerusalem.

Moses tells how God provided a ram instead of Abrahams son Isaac and because the ram died in his place, Isaac would live.

It all unfolded in this place and was a picture of the Prince who in the future would die a substitutionary death for us.

The Prince is Yeshua/Jesus who was and is the perfect Lamb of God, and more than 2000 years later, at this exact location.

Looking carefully at the Hebrew Scriptures it does not actually say 

in the mount of the LORD it shall be seen,

it is written

one shall be seen.

So here, Moses is referring to the Lord God Himself saying:

On the Har God shall be seen.

(Recall the SHEMA – God is one).

The next part of Armageddon is

Megiddon and means

a place of crowds.

In the pictographs for this megiddon/place of crowds, it is:

We could read into these pictures that for this crowd it will be a place of decision, a doorway that will lead to either life or death.

The doorways connected to one of two possible groups and their future.

Those who are lifted up with pride who will suffer destruction like a tsunami.

Those that will receive the gentle waters of life, who lift up the name of the Lord.

Which doorway they will choose and to which group most in this crowd belong John writes:

“And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains;

And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb.”

Revelation 6:15-16.

 

God will bring His wrath to force the reluctant to choose.

Everyone will go through one door or the other. Those doorways are open to us now just as they will be to those in Revelation. We must choose the dalet/doorway to life now before the unbearable wrath of God is unleashed.

The book of Revelation associates Megiddo in northern Israel with the end of days.

We often use the word “Armageddon” to mean the end of the world, and we now know from our study how it became associated with the final catastrophe that will end humanity.

Early Judaism had no tradition of the world ending in a day of divine judgment and no such idea appears in the 1st Temple period material in the Hebrew Bible. But the idea does suddenly appear in prophetic books penned after the late 6th century B.C.E., such as Deut. -Isaiah, Zechariah and Daniel. For example:

“Many nations will be joined with the Lord in that day and will become my people. I will live among you and you will know that the Lord Almighty has sent me to you” (Zechariah 2:11).

that Apocalypse is a Greek noun meaning uncovering, revealing or revelation. As it is the first word of the book in its original Greek, it became used as the name of the book as this was the common practice at the time.

Since the book describes the end of the world, and its Greek title began to be used by English speakers to refer to the end of the world itself, there is little doubt that this is how we got the word apocalypse.

Out of the mouth of dragons

Armageddon appears in In Revelation 16, where John tells us that he heard “a loud voice from the temple saying to the seven angels, ‘Go, pour out the seven bowls of God’s wrath on the earth.’”

He proceeds to describe these bowls of God’s wrath being poured on the earth: The 1st is an outbreak of “festering sores”;

the 2nd the turning of the sea to blood and the death of all that live in it;

the 3rd is the turning of the rivers into blood;

the 4th is the scorching of the people by the burning son;

the 5th is the kingdom of the beast being plunged into darkness;

the 6th is the drying up of the River Euphrates.

Then before he gets to the seventh and final bowl – a mighty thunderstorm accompanied by massive earthquakes and a hailstorm of biblical proportions – he says that “he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon” (16:16).

Who exactly is gathered to Armageddon is not exactly clear from context. It might be “three impure spirits that looked like frogs  and “came out of the mouth of the dragon” or “the kings of the whole world.”

Either way, according to John, just before the world comes to an end, they will convene at “a place which in Hebrew is called Armageddon.”

Whatever John meant by this, it is clear that he believed that just before the end of the world, something momentous would take place there. Later Christian theologians interpreted this as meaning that this would be the site of the showdown between the forces of good and evil, which will obviously end with the victory of God and the good.

The view from Megiddo

The identification of the town of Megiddo with the site of apocalypse has some merit, since it is mentioned several times in the Bible, tellingly, as the site of several epic battles, such as the Israelites vs. the Canaanites (Judges 5:19) and Judah vs. Egypt. In the latter struggle King Josiah who the bible explicitly calls the best of the Judean kings, was killed:

“While Josiah was king, Pharaoh Necho king of Egypt went up to the Euphrates River to help the king of Assyria. King Josiah marched out to meet him in battle, but Necho faced him and killed him at Megiddo”

(2 Kings 23:29).

The main challenge to the interpretation that John was referring to a Hebrew text that talked of har Megiddo, is the fact that Jews never referred to a “Mount Megiddo” – and for good reason. There is no mountain at Megiddo. At most the site could be called a small hill, or more accurately,

a TEL.

In fact, when the Bible actually refers to a geographic feature related to Megiddo, it is not a mountain but a valley:

“On that day the weeping in Jerusalem will be as great as the weeping of Hadad Rimmon in the plain of Megiddo” (Zechariah 12:11).

“In future years you will invade a land that has recovered from war, whose people were gathered from many nations to the mountains of Israel, which had long been desolate” (Ezekiel 38:8).

Other theologians and scholars suggest that the original word was

megiddon, not Megiddo at all –

but a word derived from the root G-D-D (or G-D-ayin),

which would mean this mountain was

the mountain of gathering or being cut off – meaning, destruction.

The Greek translation of Zechariah 12:11 may relate to the plain of Megiddo in this way, but no such high-altitude gathering places appear anywhere in the Hebrew writings that have become available.

GOG the Battle of the ROOF!

Here is another view of what the world calls the Battle of Armageddon:

could it be already in full fury and is the problem that the church is asleep and does not even know about it?

It seems as if the church is too busy anticipating gog and magog trying to figure out how and when Russia and others are going to join with China or other countries to attack Israel, seemingly not aware of the spiritual battles that are in full fury right now.

Is it possible that if the church wins the spiritual battle there will be no ground war?

Certainly if we lose the spiritual war the world will be all but destroyed.

Has the enemy kept the church wrapped up in fund raising and building programs which is another great distraction keeping focus off the spiritual battles?

Has the church ignored the scriptural terminology allowing the half truths of the world to dilute the truth?

The battle recorded in 2 Kings 23:29,30 and 2Chronicles 35:22;

tells the story of the battle in which Josiah king of Judah is mortally wounded.

The Hebrew name is: The valley of Jezreel and it lies at the foot of the mountain,

Har mediggo – meaning Mt Mediggo.

This was also the location of the Midianite army that Gideon chased off with trumpet and lanterns.

In 1Samuel 29:1 the philistine armies gather at Jezreel. but the battle is at Mount Gilboa in the valley of Esdraelon, which is east of the Valley of Jezreel. In the new testament the armies gather at Har Mediggo in Revelation 16:12.

12 And the sixth angel poured out his vial upon the great river Euphrates; and the water thereof was dried up, that the way of the kings of the east might be prepared. 

Judges 5:19, 2Kings 9:27;23:29, Zech 12:11

Har Mediggo in English translation is taken from the Latin text, which has Armageddon. The Greek text has Harmageddon, where the armies gather but the battle is not at Har Mediggo.

Note:

There is no battle but the bowls of God’s wrath!

It would seem from reading here that later

at the end of the millennium,

the battle of Gog and Magog

is formed at the valley of Jehoshaphat.

The word jehoshaphat (yehoshafat in Hebrew) means ‘God has judged’, and this narrow furrow of land located between Temple Mount/Al Haram Ash Sharif and the Mount of Olives is where it is said the events of Judgment Day will take place (Joel 3:12) and all nations will be judged. At the southern end is a series of tombs dating from the Second Temple period.

 

Joel 4:2

I will gather all nations and bring them down to the Valley of Y’hoshafat [ Adonai judges]. I will enter into judgment there for my people, my heritage Isra’el, whom they scattered among the nations; then they divided my land. 

verse 12 “Let the nations rouse themselves and go up to the valley of Jehoshaphat. For there will I sit to judge all the surrounding nations.”

The valley of Jehoshaphat is a few miles south east of Jerusalem also called the valley of Beracha in 2Chronicles 20:26.

King James Version (KJV). 26 And on the fourth day they assembled themselves in the valley of Berachah; for there they blessed the Lord: therefore the name of the same place was called, The valley of Berachah, unto this day.

God takes care of the armies when they surround Jerusalem.

In Revelation 20:7

 And when the thousand years are completed, the Adversary/hasatan shall be loosed out of his prison, 8 and he shall go forth to lead the nations astray, that are in the four corners of the earth — Gog and Magog ––

to gather them together to war, of whom the number [is] as the sand of the sea;

9 And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them.

(Ezekiel 7:2 ) Gog and Magog 

and

(Ezekiel 38:2)  Son of man, set thy face against Gog, the land of Magog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal, and prophesy against him, King James Version (KJV)

In 2Kings 1:10 And Elijah answered and said to the captain of fifty, If I be a man of God, then let fire come down from heaven, and consume thee and thy fifty. And there came down fire from heaven, and consumed him and his fifty.

Ezekiel 39:6  And I will send a fire on Magog, and among them that dwell carelessly in the isles: and they shall know that I am the Lord.

 

Maybe we are looking for the wrong war?

Maybe we got the name of the place wrong?

Maybe we thought we knew what the scripture said? and hopefully, maybe we won’t even be here?!

Scripture says this is at the end of the millennium and is often referred to as apocalypse, which is the Greek word for revelation/ revealing.

This is the terrible time when it takes seven months to bury the dead.

In Ezekiel 39:11 And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will give unto Gog a place there of graves in Israel, the valley of the passengers on the east of the sea: and it shall stop the noses of the passengers: and there shall they bury Gog and all his multitude: and they shall call it The valley of Hamongog. 12 And seven months shall the house of Israel be burying of them, that they may cleanse the land.

If we look at the current war, it is against humanism and the war, the battle of the roof. What is happening on the ground now is but a mild example of what is going on in the spiritual realm, the invisible dimension of the heavenlies.

Believers in humanism align themselves with compromise and tolerance of pagan beliefs and is a spiritual battle which offers the choice of loyalty to God’s teachings vs. those who tolerate all manner of evil and accepting other lifestyles in preference to that which God lays out for us in the Scriptures.

The need to be politically correct and extending people’s rights beyond what the Scriptures tell us has only succeeded in accelerating the changes we see in the world today. Materialism is another powerful spirit at this time; warfare against principalities and powers need to be corporate as it is becoming increasingly too dangerous for individual prayer, in the same way that one soldier does not go into battle against an army!

These alternatives encourage teaching of occult and false religions in public schools yet forbid teaching and practice of Christianity and godly values; all in the name of multiculturalism. The battle will not be won with the weapons of war however it will be won in the hearts of those individuals where repentance and/or revival takes root.

There is an inner connection between the names gog and magog and the fall/autumn feast of sukkot/tabernacles/Booths.

The Hebrew word gog means roof and there is a major difference between a real roof and the flimsy sukkah, the singular of sukkot.

The sukkah is a weak unstable shelter made with branches. A driving rain will soak right through it. And a driving wind will blow it away.

People have the power to make themselves safe and secure against their earthly contemporaries by buildings sturdy walls; so they delude themselves into thinking that they can make themselves safe and secure up against that which comes from above, against God and his power to direct matters.

They think that they can find security in the protection of their own might, they take their fate in their own hands, and crown the building of human greatness with sturdy roofs, with no need to depend on God.

The war of gog and magog is also the battle of gog; (the Hebrew word for roof,) against sukkah,

it’s the fight of the roof illusion, of human greatness which never allows the rest,

against

the sukkah-truth of cheerful confidence and serenity which comes from placing trust in God’s protection.

Magog is gog with the prefix M; this prefix expresses the idea of projecting something, representing the philosophy that man can insulate himself against the heavenly power of God –

Magog is possibly the attempt to affect this philosophy on earth.

Time to get our house /sanctuary spiritual house in order. Working out our salvation with fear – reverent respect -and trembling

Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, Phil 2:12-13

work out your salvation with fear and trembling;

Very serious and sober, being vigilant, with a godly clean heart and motives, observing the times, for the days are evil, short and few and the night comes when no man can work.

Our salvation/ Full redemption will be manifested as we are birthed into our sanctified supernatural bodies in which we can enter His presence.

No unclean thing can enter in. No flesh will survive the transition for we shall be changed into a new creature like unto Himself and we shall see Him as He is. Our feeble attempts to visualize what is ahead, pales in comparison to what glories will be revealed and no doubt will bear little if any resemblance to our earthly images.

We make the mistake of bringing God down to our level and to our likeness. The image and likeness of our Father that is within us is purely spiritual in nature. He has no form like we do or like Jesus/Yeshua did in His incarnate form while present on the earth. And yet He said if you have seen Me you have seen the Father!

Our limited concepts belie reality and do His incomparable being an enormous disservice. It is most certain that all of us will gasp in true awe and amazement at the inevitable realities that await the eyes of our understanding when they are finally enlightened.

It is on a serious note that we must be ready for encounters in the spiritual realm as the veil between the realms continues to thin prior to His return. It is not that these entities both good and evil, are suddenly there, merely that we can now see them just as Elisha prayed for with his servant.

The fight is in the spiritual realm. The war is in the heavenlies and we merely observe the outworking below in this earthly realm we inhabit.

Angelic Messengers are at work always and around us continually; and so to are the spirits of darkness. They have been crouching at the door since Cain’s day waiting an opportunity to work their mischief and evil. (evil=out of harmony with God) 

Don’t give him a foot hold – not even a toehold!

Keep our sanctuaries pure and holy

keep out the unclean and ungodly.

Immerse ourselves in His Word  and His presence, praying in the Holy Spirit Ruach HaKodesh, and building ourselves up in our most holy faith.

But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost, Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy

Jude 20-25

For the days are evil and waxing worse. This is a time to draw closer to him then ever before and Have no fellowship with the fruitful works of darkness

We are to shun the man made festival days that are rooted in idol worship and rather spend the 31st of October in prayer and fasting not in celebrating sin and death.

What are we thinking?????

Forgive us Father in Yeshua/Jesus name.

Almost every festival and observance on the Gregorian calendar has its roots in pagan worship of idols, false gods/ demonic entities and evil spirits.

What are we doing? Thinking it is acceptable to a Holy God. Would we take Jesus/Yeshua with us when we go trick or treating???

Most likely we have all heard the references to Heavens pearly gates and it may be that the image we have in our minds is something like the picture below.

A huge gate made out of a single pearl?

Our frame of reference is limited to what we know and of what we see in our physical earth realm.

What size must the oyster have had to be?

Impossible?

.. all things are possible with God!

Mark 10:27

We limit Him and ourselves by our humanity and our measures..His Ways are not ours neither are His thoughts. Is.55:8.. It’s time to stre-a-t-c-hh our spiritual muscles!

The pearl is often associated with tears because it’s believed that the pearl is formed through intrusive particles like sand, they become an agitant within the mollusk and cause discomfort/pain. It apparently secretes a substance around the particle to prevent further irritation and damage. The build up of this secretion eventually forms the beautiful pearl. If this is so, tears are then the symbols of the gates and the Way into heaven.

Pearls represent tears and if, as we have previously noted, tears bring life…

..then as we enter into life through the pearl gate – the tears of sorrow turn to beautiful pearls/tears of joy.

 Ps. 30:5 in his favour is life: weeping/tears may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.

Tears of true repentance are essential and integral to salvation. He wipes away all tears as we enter through that Pearl/symbol.

Rev. 21:4 He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the former things have passed away. And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.

It’s the last reminder of the tears we have shed in this life as we enter in to His joy unspeakable and full of glory.

Many times we have only heard what someone else says of Heaven and have not actually read the scripture references for ourselves and because if this we sometimes miss some amazing details.

Maybe each of the gates are more like this??…

Heaven is in the spiritual realm and is beyond the veil separating the dimensions and yet it exists just as solidly as anything here on earth and is in many ways more real!

How do we know that?

Matthew 6:19 Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Nothing in Heaven decays in any way and is eternal, whereas this earth is scheduled for renewal in the future.

According to revelation, heaven is the location of Fathers’ throne and it is also where the new Jerusalem is – are they one and the same?

What we do know is that according to Revelation, the new Jerusalem is going to come down to the earth and that is where Messiah will rule from in the millenial reign.

So it’s at least a portion of shamayim/heaven that is coming to earth. Rev 21:12-21.

The first thing that is clear, is that there is more than one pearl because, there is more than one gate to enter into the New Jerusalem.

(Remember the im Hebrew suffix means more than one – spiritually speaking, there has always been more than one Yerushalyim)

In the same pattern that there were 12 gates

into the old city of Jerusalem in Israel,

there are 12 gates into the New Jerusalem (Rev. 21:12).

The 12 gates in Revelation 21 belong to the New Jerusalem, which comes down from heaven to the new earth (verse 10), shining with the glory of God (verse 11). John describes the city: “It had a great, high wall with twelve gates, and with twelve angels at the gates.”

The gates are most likely equal distances apart. As the structure is a square, it would make logical sense for there to be 3 gates on the north, 3 on the east, 3 on the west and 3 on the south. (Rev. 21:13).

In Revelation 21:10-12 the apostle John says “And he …showed me the holy city, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, having the glory of God….It had a great and high wall and had twelve gates.”

Our natural, fallen man is excluded from New Jerusalem by the (soreg), wall (of separation), the only

WAY to ENTER IN is through THE GATE.

The pearl signifies the death and resurrection of Messiah, through whom we enter New Jerusalem. He tore down that wall which had a literal physical manifestation when the veil/curtain/wall to the Holy of Holies was rent in two. This thick veil in the temple kept everyone out of His Holy presence including the Jewish men.

Eph.2:14  (τὸ μεσότοιχον του̂ φραγμου̂). Paul asserts that Messiah has broken down the “middle wall of partition” (niv “dividing wall of hostility”) that divided Jews and Gentiles, and has made of the two, one new people/man. Paul probably had in mind a literal wall as a tangible symbol of the division between Jews and Gentiles—the wall in the temple area in Jerusalem separating the court of the Gentiles from the courts into which only Jews might enter.

He is the pearl of great price.Each of the 12 pearls speak of great price for which the Messiah/Moshiach ‘sold’ all that he had by giving His all. (Mattiyahu 13:45,46)

Messiah is the crown jewel of heaven and our entrance into the city is through His death and resurrection.

He is the Gate and as Eph. 2:14 tells us: ‘For He is our peace, who of both has made one, breaking down the middle wall of separation.’

The wall in the Temple was only a symbol of the spiritual wall that existed between Jew and Gentile, now because Messiah has broken down the wall, Jew and Gentile can step across it and worship the Lord together. This worship will be for all eternity in Heaven.

Notice the square/cube plan of the Temple blueprint above is the same shape as the New Jerusalem.

Our Heavenly Father Creator of the universe has a blueprint which seems to be recurring throughout Hi-Story.

We are seeing more and more how everything is connected.

As God declares the end from the beginning… did He plant the garden east of Eden, based on His design of the New Jerusalem? It is only new to us!

Gates are significant in scripture and in the days of the New Testament, the Israelites would enter Jerusalem for Passover/Pesach through the Eastern Gate, which led to the Temple. Also called the Golden Gate and the one which Messiah will enter on HIs return.

By our inclusion in His death and resurrection, our old man was terminated and buried, the created part of our being was redeemed and justified, we were made alive by being born of the Spirit, and we were raised up in Messiah to walk in newness of life.

All this together is our entrance into New Jerusalem through the PEARL of great price.

Our includes All Gentile/Goyim/Nations/Tribes/Cultures/ Languages/Heathen. Mark. 13:10.  And the gospel of the KINGDOM must first be preached unto all the nations. (The ‘Kingdom of the Heavens/shamayim‘, as John preached; ‘Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near.’ Matt. 3:1-2).

Also that the Kingdom of God is also spiritually within us; this is the real meaning of ‘as above so below’! (As always the adversary has taken what was originally Fathers’ and perverted it.)

Before He returns, Matt. 24:14 says it shall be preached “in the whole world, for a testimony unto all the nations” (ἐν ὅλῃ τῇ οἰκουμένῃ εἰς μαρτύριον).

Revelation 21:21a says, “ And the 12 gates were 12 pearls; each one of the gates was, respectively, of one pearl.

Then we see 12 gates, portals, doors or entryways into the city. 

In as much as the ‘city’, is probably an entire planetary celestial object, we must now envision 12 portals or entryways into an entirely new realm, of which we have very little experience or comprehension.

These are guarded by 12 cherubim.  We saw 2 cherubim at the Garden of Eden and 4 surrounding the Throne of God. 

Are these the guardian angels (Cherubim/kerubim) for each of the 12 tribes represented by the 144,000? (Rev. 7:4-8)

The word kerubim has a meaning of ‘one who prays’, or ‘one who intercedes.’ Cherubim or Kerubim are an order of angel described in the Bible and ancient texts as a combination of two, or more often, four creatures — including that of a human. Both the mythical Sphinx and the scriptural cherubim are “hybrid” beings combining two to four creatures.

Because the pearl signifies the death and resurrection of Messiah, through which we enter New Jerusalem.  Revelation 21:21 gives an understanding that each gate of the Holy city is one single pearl, signifying that the entrance to the city is unique and is once for all; that is, we can enter the city only through the once-for-all regeneration accomplished by Messiah’s overcoming death and life-imparting resurrection.

The gates of pearl at the entrances to New Jerusalem, are they real?

Because they signify the death and resurrection of Messiah as our entrance into the new creation. They are far more ‘real’ or precious than any physical pearl.

The New Jerusalem, which will also be connected with the New Earth, a large portion of verses are used in describing the foundations of the city. (Hebrews 11:10, Revelation 21:14, 19)

Scripture states these foundations will be 12 in number, 12 has a significant symbolism to the Father.  **There was similar creative detail in the formation of the foundations of this earth in Genesis. The Lord of Hosts marked off its dimension and stretched a measuring line across it, which provided footings to set it, and laid its cornerstone.

(Footings could refer to magnetic properties, as in grounding or earthing as in an electrical power source; and the cornerstone refers prophetically to Messiah Jesus/Yeshua. Eph.2:20. Jesus Himself being the cornerstone, the Alef/Tav-Alpha/Omega-Beginning/End-Genesis/Revelation – the End from the Beginning).

Job 38:5“Who hath laid the measures thereof, if thou knowest? or who hath stretched … Or who shut up the sea with doors, when it brake forth, as if it had issued out of …

Isaiah 45:12 KJV: I have made the earth, and created man upon it: I, [even] my hands, have stretched out the heavens, and all their host have I commanded.

Most significant is the shape and size of the celestial city, which is enormous. 

Calculated at a diameter of 1,325.75 miles or 2,133.58 km across. 1,200,000 x the height of a man. It’s impossible that 2000 yrs ago a ‘precise guestimate’ was made for its length and breadth as these are = to the principals used in today’s modern engineering. These formulas based on mathematics that validate such construction, have only existed less than 80 years, highlighting the fact that the design of the New Jerusalem, is beyond our current abilities!

According to scripture, the foundation of the Throne of the Father lies upon a crystal sea, which is the canopy over the cherubim, who in turn form the footings and the cornerstone for the Throne.

Is this a real, liquid, sea?

We know a sapphire-blue is the color of pure water, however, the great multitude of people is standing on the sea. So, this crystalline sea has to be solid enough to support a great multitude and a giant sapphire throne, and has to have the hardness similar to that of a diamond.

According to scientific research, the core building material of this earths matrix is Silicon, and at least one archangel or anointed cherub, Lucifer, was made of silicon and gold.

See in Ezekiel 28:11-19 and Isaiah 14:12-17 the scripture speaks of the King of Tyre/stones of fire?..

Y’ḥezqēl   חֶזְקֵאל

‘Every precious stone was your covering, the ruby, topaz, and emerald, the chrysolite, onyx, and jasper, the sapphire, turquoise, and beryl; your settings and mounts were made of gold. On the day you were created they were prepared. Ezek.28:13.

Silicon based stones seem in large part to encompass the foundations of the New Jerusalem and silicon is the number one conductor of energy (electricity/power) and so is gold. So what is described for us is an enormous storehouse of the eternal, inexhaustible energy of HaShem, our Father, the source of all creation; who upholds all things by the Word of His power.

In Revelation 21:19, the 12 foundations of the New Jerusalem are described:

The foundations of the city walls were decorated with every kind of precious stone.

 Are the stone foundations on top of one another in layers or next to each other side by side, around the base where each of the 12 tribes gates are?

The first foundation was jasper.

Jasper is a common mineral.  It can be found in many colors one is a very opaque, dense burnt-orange/red colored stone.

There is also a crystalline type of jasper, which is an emerald green color and very similar to crystal clear green Jade which is valued as a very precious stone.

According to some scholars, iaspis, (Strong’s Greek 2393) is a brilliant green crystalline structure.  John writes that the city itself had every appearance of a precious jewel, like jasper, clear as a crystal.

Is it envisioning a traditional foursquare city with foundations settling on a flat surface like the earth?  It does not appear that way because the Greek word, krustallizo, means to be clear or brilliant like a crystal, or having a crystalline matrix like a clear crystal.

The Hebrew is yashpheh, היֱשְׁפֵ        Phonetic Spelling: (yaw-shef-ay’)

(Strong’s 3471) coming from an unused root meaning to polish.

From the context of its use, we could assume that the city is constructed of gem stone quality but this type of gem is only assumed because of the similarity of yashpheh with jasper.

Until the original Breast Plate of the Hebrew High Priest is recovered, it will remain a mystery.  The Greek word for jasper is iaspis (Strong’s 2393) and it’s only translated as jasper.

So we could conclude that when looking from the exterior surface, the city will look like jasper, however there are 12 foundations of the city, the 1st and exterior surface being jasper, the 2nd being sapphire.

While considering these concepts, it’s helpful to remember that we are dealing with crystalline or minerals structures.  Each of the foundation stones has a crystalline matrix and as such, each one transmits energy in a different way.  The transmission of light (energy) will depend on the hue of the color (light frequency) that is transmitted. We looked at the rainbow and light frequencies in a previous post.

There are several variations of the stones names and colors due to translations and modern names. Here are some to help give a visual reference.

v.19 The 1st foundation was Jasper (in some listed as diamond/Yahalom), Jashepheh/Yashpheh-RED/GREEN

So, if the 1st foundation is an emerald green crystalline hue like jasper where the Throne of the Father positioned upon it, (within its midst).  Then the 2nd foundation is the brilliant blue of sapphire, the same as the foundation below the throne of God, seen as the sea of glass, clear as crystal. 

Is it possible that we are seeing described as the New Jerusalem, is another spherical body, a planet, that has its orbit along side earth during the millennium and at the end of a thousand years it will come down and rest upon the earth?

Revelation 21:1-3 – “Now I saw a New Heaven and a New Earth, for the First Heaven and the First Earth were passed away.  Also there was no more sea.”

Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God.”

When John saw the Holy City descending down out of heaven, as described, he stated:

Revelation 21:10-12 – “And he carried me away in the Spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me the Holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God, having the glory of God.  Her light was like a most precious stone, like a jasper stone, clear as crystal.  And she had a great and high wall with twelve gates, and twelve angels at the gates, and names written on them, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel.

Traditional pictures of the New Jerusalem are all modeled after ancient or medieval 3-dimensional walled cities. 

None depict a crystalline structure, yet in the days of Herod, Jerusalem ancient writers described the city as shining with the brilliance of whiteness due to the gleaming temple, which was built of polished limestone.

The 12 foundations describe a huge structure, and the measurements are for a 4square or cube-like shape.

The almost unimaginable beauty of the New Jerusalem becomes clear, emerging out of the words in Johns descriptions: whose length, breadth and height are equal, yet having 12 foundations with 12 gates (or we may could call them energy portals) with height, (Greek hypsos), which interestingly suggests some kind of points or crowns, (like a a geo-magnetic structure).

The other possibility is that all the 12 foundations are Diamonds…

Taking the measurements from the ancient human cubit scale and converting into those we use today, the size of such a city would be 12,000 furlongs in height, width and length. A furlong is 220 yards, therefore, each side is 660 feet x 12,000 feet = 7,920,000 feet per side. One mile is 5,280 feet, so each side is 7,920,000 divided by 5280 feet = 1500 MILES on each side.

We are not looking for something the size of our home village, town or city! Or even a place where humans could live!

1,500 X 1,500 x 1,500 = 3,375,000,000 cubic miles for the whole city. 1,500 miles = 2,414.016 kilometers so the city would be 14,067,613,676.25 cubic km. The length and breadth would be 2.25 million square miles, (3.86 million square meters) and including the height, or the cubic size, makes this planetary sphere about 3.375 billion cubic miles or in volume about the size of the moon!

  It will be a self-radiating, there is no need of light for the Lord Himself is the source of LIGHT. Due to His being eternally self-sustaining as an everlasting source of life energy; it will truly be the center of its own heavenly solar system, or universe/shamayim. Here our Heavenly Father Himself, will dwell there with His people and His Omnipotent, all-encompassing presence, will be that in which we will abide.

This is everlasting life, this is heaven – never being separated from Him and all that He is.

Revelation 21: 15-17 And he that talked with me had a golden reed to measure the city, and the gates thereof, and the wall thereof. And the city lieth foursquare, and the length is as large as the breadth. And he measured the city with the reed, twelve thousand furlongs. The length and the breadth and the height of it are equal. And he measured the wall thereof, a hundred and forty and four cubits, according to the measure of a man, that is, of the angel. – KJV

The new international version converts the above measurements to be 2,200km long and wide and high and 65 metres thick.

12,000 furlongs square, while the wall will be 144 (12 x 12) cubits.

To get an idea of how big this is, the average diameter of the earth is 12,742km Earth has an equatorial diameter of 12,756 km (7926 mi),

Since the height, width and length of the walls of the city of New Jerusalem is given, the best statistic to compare with our planet earth is volume. From the measurements of New Jerusalem described above the volume of New Jerusalem is 1.0648x 1010 km3.

According to calculations, the volume of the earth is 1.08321×1012 km3. This implies that the earth is 169 times larger in volume than the city of New Jerusalem! (All measurements are approximations, however we get the idea…Its HUGE!)

As for a planet that could possibly be made of diamonds… think again!

12 Pearl Gates, 12 Angels, 12 Foundations, 12 Breastplate stones, 12 Apostles, 12 Tribes. The number 12 signifies perfection of government or rule.

The 12’s of the New Jerusalem = the sign of the perfect covenant.

The Name of each tribe is written over a gate.

Does this mean it is only for the members of that tribe?
