Yom Teruah – The Day of Trumpets

Also called Rosh HaShannah which is literally the Head of the Year.

It is known by many names.

The Biblical Hebrew name for the 4th of our Heavenly Fathers’ 7 Appointed Times/ Moedim/ annual feasts in

Lev. 23:24 is

Zikaron T’ruah Miqra Kodesh

and is variously translated as:

a memorial of blowing of trumpets [shofars], an holy convocation (KJV);

a signaled holy gathering (Jay P. Green rough translation);

a reminder by blowing of trumpets, a holy convocation (NAS);

a memorable acclamation, a holy gathering (Jay P. Green smooth translation);

a holy convocation announced with blasts on the shofar (CJB);

and a remembrance with shofar blasts, a holy convocation (ArtScroll Stone Edition Chumash/ASEC).

In Numbers 29:1, there’s a 2nd, and only other, reference to Yom Teruah in the Torah, where the Hebrew name for this day is translated into English as:

a day of blowing the trumpets [shofars] (KJV and Jay P. Green smooth translation);

a day for blowing trumpets [shofars] (NAS);

a day of blowing the shofar (CJB); a day of shofar sounding

it is Yom Teruah – the day of shouting an alarm.

(The 1st day of the 7th month)

A memorial of trumpet based on Numbers 29:1, the biblical name for the fourth feast is The Day of Trumpets or more literally, Yom Teruah, which is a direct translation from the original Hebrew.

Each month True Israel/Yisra’El is commanded to sound their shofars, and the priests are to blow their silver trumpets.

“Blow the trumpet /shofar at the time of the new moon, at the full moon on our solemn feast day. For this is a statute for Yisra’El, A law of the God of Jacob.” Ps. 81:3-4

“Also in the day of your gladness, in your appointed feasts, and at the beginning of your months, you shall blow the trumpets over your burnt offerings and over the slaughters of your peace offerings; and they shall be a memorial for you before your God: I am YHWH your God.” Num. 10:10

The reason for Yom Teruah being a day of shouting and alarm is: There are only 10 days left” for the wicked to repent of their wickedness and join themselves to True Israel/Yisra’El. Throughout the year the monthly reminder, the warning cry, has been blown; the 7th month is coming and soon it will be too late to repent. So now is the time!

Sunset on Wednesday, 2nd October is the Gregorian calendar date for 2024. 29 Elul on the Hebrew calendar and Rosh Hashanah on 1 & 2  Tishri is Thursday 3rd and Friday 4th October. This is also the Civil New Year in Israel. 5785.

The Appointed Times of our Heavenly Father paint a picture of what we can expect to occur in these last days. However, mistakenly believing that any one of them has reached its’ complete fulfillment and therefore does not have any influence on future events, may be spiritually shortsighted. Our ways and thoughts are not the same as the Creator of the Universe. Who said:

“Whom will He teach knowledge? And whom will He make to understand the message? Those just weaned from milk? Those just drawn from the breasts? For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept, line upon line, line upon line, here a little, there a little.” Isa. 28:9-10

Obviously babies cannot understand the message, it is rather for those who are mature in His word.

Our Father’s message for His people is the same beautiful message that the man on the mountain in Isa 52:7 brought, or that of John the Baptist, Jesus/Yeshua and Paul, which was simply: “the kingdom of Heaven is at hand, REPENT and believe the good news; our God reigns!”

“How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, who proclaims peace, who brings glad tidings of good things, who proclaims salvation, who says to Zion,“ your Elohim (lawmaker, judge) reigns! ” Isa 52:7

“In those days John the Baptist came preaching in the wilderness of Judea, and saying,‘Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand!’ ” Mat 3:1-2

“Now after John was put in prison, Yeshua/Jesus came to Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God and saying; ‘ The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of Elohim is athand. Repent, and believe in the gospel.’ “Mar 1:14-15

True Yisra’El

Understanding the message and the Appointed Times/feasts cannot be done without understanding who True Israel/Yisra’El really is, and who they are not. There is a distinction between the state of Israel/the country, those who follow the laws of a man-made government with its statutes etc. And True Isreal/Yisra’El, those who have repented, left the king and kingdom of their birth and have started to learn and to do our heavenly Father’s statutes, judgments and ordinances and have now come into covenant with Him at Passover/Pesach.

To understand the Appointed Times/feasts of the Lord/YHWH, we must be aware that there is a difference between the 2 types of people who live in His kingdom.

One type is the Ger:

When a person repents and turns from their ways and the ways of the world, to follow Gods ways, they become a Ger. This means that the individual is no longer a citizen in any other kingdom on earth; they and their families have joined themselves to True Israel/Yisra’El becoming citizens of that holy nation, or commonwealth, through repentance and the next step would be a public declaration of that separation by water immersion (that is what was originally understood by baptism). The Ger then keeps all the statues, judgments and ordinances that True Israel/Yisra’El does.

“You shall have the same law for the stranger [Ger] and for one from your own country [Ezrach]; for I am YHWH, your God.” (Lev 24:22)

“One law shall be for the native-born [Ezrach] and for the stranger [Ger] who dwells among you .” Exodus 12:49

The Ger has left the country of their first birth and joined themselves and their families to the holy, but now invisible, nation of True Israel/Yisra’El. When the Pharisees asked Messiah when the kingdom of heaven would come, His reply was,

“The kingdom of heaven/God does not come with observation; nor will they say, ‘See here!’ or ‘See there!’ For indeed, the kingdom of Elohim is within you.” Luke 17:20-21

The kingdom is within us when we repent and join ourselves to True Israel/Yisra’El.

The 2nd is the Ezrach

Each year the Ger has the opportunity to become:

as one born in the land’.

Whether or not the individual has ever even seen the land of Israel. This was the case with all those who ate of the Pesach/Passover back in Egypt, they became as ‘one born in the land’ even though the majority of them had never even seen it and never would.

In Exodus 12:48, the instructions for the Passover as concerned the Ger reads:

“And when a stranger /Ger dwells with you and wants to keep the Pesach/Passover to YHWH, let all his males be circumcised, and then let him come near and keep it; and he shall become as a native of the land [an Ezrach]; for no uncircumcised person shall eat it.” Exodus12:48.

Passover/Pesach is the only feast where we as Gerim; which are those who have joined themselves to True Israel/Yisra’El by repentance and baptism; may now actually become ‘as one born in the land.’ This person/the new Ezrach; is True Israel/Yisra’El because they have eaten of the Pesach/Passover lamb and placed the blood on their doors. They are now the ones that are ‘Born from above‘ as Messiah said we all must be. The Ezrach are the people who are born, a second time, into a “spiritual” kingdom, the land of their second birth.

The Appointed Times of the Lord/feasts of YHWH are first on an individual basis for Israel/Yisra’El and then on a corporate basis. The Spring Appointed Times/feasts are for the individual and the Fall/Autumn Appointed Times/ feasts are for the corporate body of True Israel/Yisra’El.

Except for one Sukkot every 7 years, only Israel/Yisra’El seed and the males who dwell with them attend the feasts of the Lord.

“Three times a year all thy males זכורך , za·kur’] shall appear before YHWH, thy God in the place which He chooses: at the Feast of Unleavened Bread, at the Feast of Weeks, and at the Feast of Tabernacles; and they shall not appear before the Lord empty-handed. Deut. 16:16 and Exodus 34:23

The Appointed Times of the Lord/ feasts of YHWH are not for everyone. They are only for True Israel/Yisra’El and those who have joined themselves to Israel/Yisra’El by coming into covenant with our Heavenly Father/YHWH! So we see from the scriptures that the Appointed Times of the Lord/the feasts of YHWH is not simply or exclusively a ‘Jewish’ cultural observation!

What does Scripture tell us about this festival and what commandments are given regarding it?

What are we to do and when are we to do it?

Looking at this moed and discovering what Scripture has to tell us about it, we should consider that the very same Creator God our Heavenly Father, Who granted favor and mercy by sending His Son to atone for our lawlessness, will send that same Son again to defeat His enemies and judge the world.

In the words of King David: oh, God, please “open our eyes that we might behold wonderful things from your Torah” and see our returning Messiah in this moed. Scripture was given to mankind to speak of Him and we should listen and hear its voice… His voice… especially during His appointed times.

What Scripture Says About Yom Teruah

Yom Teruah [יום תרועה,

Strong’s #3117 + Strong’s #8643] means

“day [of the] shout”.

“Speak unto the Bnei Yisra’El, saying, In the seventh month, in the first day of the month, shall ye have a Shabbaton, a zikhron teru’ah mikra kodesh. Ye shall do no melekhet avodah therein; but ye shall offer an offering made by eish unto YaHuWaH.” Wayyiqra/Leviticus 23:24-25

Although translated as trumpet, teruah is not an actual trumpet as Westerns know it. Rather, it is a type of sound made with a ram’s horn: a shofar. A shofar is a ram’s horn that is hollowed out and used as a musical instrument. It is ‘played’ by blowing and vibrating pursed lips much like a modern brass instrument like a trumpet or trombone.

The NASB adds the words “of trumpets” in this passage. Teruah is used in Scripture to describe both the sounding of a shofar as well as people shouting; (e.g. the “great shout” mentioned in Joshua 6:5 when the walls of Jericho fell, is the Hebrew word teruah).

“And it shall come to pass, that when they make a long blast with the keren hayovel, when ye hear the sound of the shofar, Kol HaAm shall shout with a teruah gedolah; and the Chomat HaIr shall fall down, and HaAm shall go up every ish charging straight in.” Yehoshua/Joshua 6:5

There are a number of reasons to sound the shofar aside from this festival. Two of the most common reasons given in Scripture are: the arrival of a king or the anointing of a king. For example: 2 Samuel 15:10, 1 Kings 1:34, 1 Kings 1:39, 2 Kings 9:13.

All of these mention a shofar being sounded as a person is anointed and proclaimed king. So, too, we can recognize the King who reigns over all Kings, when we hear the shofar being sounded on Yom Teruah.

Finding Messiah in Yom Teruah… as in His return.

After the spring moedim (Pesach, Chag HaMatzot and Shavuot) comes a long, hot, and dry summer in the Land of Yisra’El. But the moedim return in the Fall/Autumn and with them comes relief from the heat with cooler weather.

Like the spring moedim that foretold Messiah’s first coming, Yom Teruah marks the beginning of the fall festivals that foretell His second coming. In this moed we can see Messiah returning with a great trumpet blast and vanquishing His enemies in preparation for Judgment Day and the Day of Atonement.

The blessings of the moedim return with Yom Teruah which is the Feast of Trumpets, the first of the fall moedim.

Prophecy speaks of the Great Trumpet that will herald the return of the Messiah King following the long, hot, and dry centuries since His appearing.

We noted above that the Greek word used in the Septuagint for teruah was salpiggon (“trumpets”, singular salpigx). This word is used in the writings of the apostles eleven times including these prophetic passages:

“And then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the SON OF MAN COMING ON THE CLOUDS OF THE SKY with power and great glory. And He will send forth His angels with A GREAT TRUMPET and THEY WILL GATHER TOGETHER His elect from the four winds, from one end of the sky to the other.” Mattithyahu/Matthew 24:30-31

“And then will appear the Ot Ben Adam (the Sign of the Son of Man) in Shamayim. All the tribes of kol haaretz (all the earth) will see the Ben HaAdam Mashiach and his Bias, his Coming, on the ananim of Shamayim (clouds of glory of Heaven) with gevurah (power) and great kavod (glory). Mashiach will send his malachim with a loud blast of the Shofar, and the malachim will gather together Mashiach’s Bechirim from the four winds, from one end of Shamayim to the other.” Mattithyahu/Matthew 24:30-31

Behold, I tell you a mystery; we will not all sleep, but we will all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet; for the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. For this perishable must put on the imperishable, and this mortal must put on immortality. 1 Corinthians 15:51-53

“Hinei! I speak a sod (mystery) to you: we will not all sleep the sleep of the Mesim, but we will all be changed. In a rega (moment), in the wink of an eye, at the last shofar blast. For the shofar will sound, the Mesim (dead ones) will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. For it is necessary for this perishable nature to put on the imperishable, and this mortal nature to put on the immortal.” Kehilah in 1 Corinthians 15:51-53

For the Master Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of Elohim, and the dead in Messiah will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Master in the air, and so we shall always be with the Master. 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17

“For Yahusha Himself, at the signal, at the bat kol /voice, of the Sar HaMalachim (the Archangel), and at the shofar blast of YaHuWaH, shall come down from Shamayim, and the Mesim in Mashiach shall stand up alive in the Techiyas HaMesim first. Then [next in sequence], we who are alive and who have been left behind simultaneously with them shall be snatched up in the ananim (clouds) to meet Yahusha in the air. And so always with Yahusha we shall be.” Kehilah in Thessalonika I 4:16-17

The day or the hour?

Yom Teruah is the only moed that falls on the first day of the month. All of the other moedim fall on a day that is well into the month: the fourteenth, the tenth, fifty days after Passover, etc.

It seems that Messiah Himself pointed to Yom Teruah as the day of His return using this well-known condition?

“And He will send forth His angels with A GREAT TRUMPET and THEY WILL GATHER TOGETHER His elect from the four winds, from one end of the sky to the other. Now learn the parable from the fig tree: when its branch has already become tender and puts forth its leaves, you know that summer is near; so, you too, when you see all these things, recognize that He is near, right at the door. Truly I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place. Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away. But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone.” Mattithyahu/Matthew 24:31-36

“Mashiach will send his malachim with a loud blast of the Shofar, and the malachim will gather together Mashiach’s Bechirim from the four winds, from one end of Shamayim to the other. And from the etz teenah (fig tree), learn its parabolic lesson: when its branch has become tender already and sprouts leaves, you know that Kayitz (Summer) is near; thus also you, when you see all these things, know that it is near, at the very doors. Omein, I say to you, that this dor (generation) will by no means pass away until all these things come about. Shamayim vHaAretz will pass away, but my Dvar will by no means pass away. But concerning that day and hour, no one has daas, not the malachim of Shamayim, but only HaAv (the Father) of me.” Mattithyahu/Matthew 24:31-36

Messiah uses a parable of a fig tree to indicate that there will be signals/signs of the season of His return. Then He uses an expression that points to Yom Teruah, the day of the shofar blast that announces the arrival of the King! We should be aware of the time and the seasons and stay alert and spiritually ready for Him. He tells us:

“Be dressed in readiness, and keep your lamps lit. Be like men who are waiting for their master when he returns from the wedding feast, so that they may immediately open the door to him when he comes and knocks. Blessed are those slaves whom the master will find on the alert when he comes; truly I say to you, that he will gird himself to serve, and have them recline at the table, and will come up and wait on them. Whether he comes in the second watch, or even in the third, and finds them so, blessed are those slaves. Luqas/Luke 12:35-38

A verse in Revelation says we cannot know the time of the Messiahs’ return. These are the words of the Master, Himself:

So remember what you have received and heard; and keep it, and repent. Therefore if you do not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what hour I will come to you. Rev 3:3.

Here Messiah is speaking to the believers in Sardis whom He declares to bedead” Rev 3:1. It is these dead believers who, if they do not “wake up”, will be surprised at His coming.

Messiah uses common phrasing that points to the only well-known day of which “no man knows the day or the hour” to liken to His return, that being Yom Teruah.

When the shofar sounded in ancient Israel, it signaled that heaven and earth were about to meet, that divine power, the supernatural forces of heaven was about to break into the mundane affairs of men. It signaled that great things were about to happen.

Below are briefly the historical roots of our faith, the present relevance for believers and prophetic end-time implications.

looking at the following:

Yom Teruah or the day of blowing/shouting,

the shofar blasts prophetically,

the summer months between the spring feast of Shavuot/Weeks /Pentecost

and the fall feast of Yom Teruah

are a spiritual picture of what is often called the ‘Church Age,’ which is the period of time from the Feast of Pentecost/Shavuot in Acts 2 until the return of Jesus/Yeshua the Messiah at the end of the age and lasting for approximately 2000 years. For many, especially those living in a hotter climate, summer is a time of weariness and fatigue due to the excessive heat. In the same way, many believers have fallen asleep or are growing spiritually weary while waiting for the return of the Messiah. Jesus/Yeshua discusses this issue in the Parable of the Ten Virgins in Matthew 25, who all grew weary and fell asleep awaiting the coming of the Bridegroom /Jesus/Yeshua.

This all changes on the 1st day of the 7th month of the biblical Hebrew calendar, when away in the distance the sound of a shofar blast suddenly pierces the atmosphere and wakes up those who have fallen asleep. Not only does this blast on the shofar signal the beginning of the 7th month when the new crescent moon is sighted, (the day and hour that no man knows); but it seems that it announces the return of the Bridegroom (Messiah) coming for His bride (the redeemed saints). As in the parable, the cry went forth that the bridegroom was coming and all woke up to prepare for His arrival. In these end days, that cry is going forth even now for all to hear, to awake and to prepare for the arrival of Jesus/Yeshua the Messiah.

In the biblical calendar, the visible sighting of the crescent new moon always marks the beginning of the month and is announced by the shofar blast Ps 81:3. Likewise, on the first day of the seventh month of the biblical calendar, the arrival of the new moon, called Rosh Chodesh, when the shofar sounds it marks the beginning of Yom Teruah. This is the first day of the fall/autumn moed/festival/harvest season and is the time when the call goes out for the spiritually sleepy to wake up, and to hear the voice of the Lord, to be invigorated by the breath or voice of the shofar, which is symbolic of His prophetic Word going forth across the earth in the last days.

The ram’s horn shofar is bent into a curved shape and it represents the repentant, humble hearts, of both the one blowing and those hearing. This is the season for the righteous to get right with the Father and bend our hearts in humility before Him and shake ourselves out of spiritual lukewarmness and instead to wake up to spiritual action and preparation. The fall/autumn Appointed Times/Moedim, point to last days events that will occur at some point in time in the very near future. It’s a time to be refreshed by the breath of God, His Ruach HaKodesh, and to be aware of a time of new beginnings. Let’s allow Him to breathe on us, to revive us and empower us as we enter into this prophetic season, and as every day we prepare ourselves so that when the moment comes for each of us, we are ready to meet our Savior, Lord, King and Redeemer, Messiah Jesus/Yeshua, in the air.

Yom Teruah also begins a season that prophetically speaks of war and battle, in ancient times in Israel, the shofar was a weapon of warfare, and in the last days it will be used again as such. It was used to call Israel to battle, to defeat her enemies with Gods’ help. The shofar was also used to proclaim victory after the battle was won and to worship our Heavenly Father who had given them the victory.  Israel’s fight against her enemies still continues on even in these end times and no more obvious than right now.  The enemies of the redeemed Israelites, us, are mostly spiritual, being the world, the flesh and the devil.

James 3:15; Ephesians 2:2–3.

Through faith in Jesus/Yeshua the Messiah who defeated death, hell and the grave, we can have victory over death, sin, the devil and this world. 1 Cor. 15:51–57; Rom. 8:27; 1 John 4:4; 5:4; Rev. 12:11.

As we hear the sound of the shofar calling us to rise up from our spiritual slumber, our Heavenly Father is telling His people to be the over-comers He has called us to be, so that we may be worthy to partake of the glories of his eternal kingdom.

Rev. 2:7, 11, 17, 26; 3:5, 12, 21.

Yom Teruah is also the time of the reaping of the summer harvest. Spiritually speaking, this period will be the time of the reaping of the righteous to their reward Rev. 14:4. and the harvest of the wicked to the great winepress of Elohim’s wrath Rev. 14:14-20

It is the time of the resurrection of the dead in Messiah Yeshua at the end of the tribulation, Matt. 24:29 and the beginning of the Lord God’s wrath being poured out upon the nations. Joel 3:11-13. This begins the wrath of God pictured by Yom Kippur /the Day of Atonement, which occurs 10 days after Yom Teruah; before which time the dead saints will have been resurrected and given their spiritual, glorified bodies.

During the month of Elul, our focus has been on repentance/teshuvah, restoration and preparation for the coming of the Messiah. In order to repent one must understand that Scripture defines sins as the violation of our Heavenly Father’s Torah, or instructions or teachings in righteousness 1 John 3:4.

The letter Sin or chet in Hebrew, loosely  means:

a failure in our relationship with our Heavenly Father.

Our goal should be to continually move closer to Him, but chet is behavior that causes us to move away from Him.

If our Heavenly Father requires His people to turn away from sin and turn to righteousness, which is called repentance, then what is  involved in repentance?

Repentance or teshuvah in Hebrew, means: to return.

In the biblical context, it means:

to return to Elohim”and to behavior He requires of us, in other words, return to obedience to his commandments.

While we deeply regret having moved away from the Father, we must not despair, for He has provided the WAY for us to return to Him promising us that when we repent, He forgives without delay.

The shofar’s blowing is a call to awaken out of spiritual sleep, lethargy, stagnation, slumber and to repent of sin. No man knows the day or the hour of the new moon’s arrival each month, however, according to scripture, one who is alert can certainly know the season and year. Sadly, human tendency is to grow weary in waiting, and begin to slack off in one’s obedience to the Lord’s righteous commands. When the new moon is sighted and the shofar sounds, this is the signal for those who are slumbering to wake up, for hope to arise in our hearts. This is time for renewal and spiritual revival to occur and action to be taken to put off sin and to draw closer spiritually to our Heavenly Father.

The awakening sound of the shofar blast is the Hebrew word teruah

Strong’s G8643, see Lev 23:24 and Num 29:1 where the phrase

blowing of trumpets is teruah), which means:

the shout or blast of war, alarm, alarm of war, war cry, signal, and sound of tempest.

Teruah derives from the Hebrew root word ruah meaning:

alarm, signal, sound or blast of the shofar, to raise a shout.

The name Yom Teruah could therefore have several literal meanings:

“the day of the shout,

the day of the war alarm

or the day of the shofar blast.”

When we understand the significance of this day from a biblical stand point, we realize that Yom Teruah is:

a day of shouting with exultant joy or

as a shriek in alarm, or

a day of shofar blowing.

Shofars were blown in biblical times to rally the people together, to alert the people in time of war, to warn the people, or as an instrument, along with shouts, to express the people’s joy, or to praise the Lord God.

Yom Teruah prophetically involves all these concepts, it’s a day when God’s people will shout with joy as they gather to meet Yeshua in the air, after having been bodily resurrected at the sound of the last shofar blast, but it is also a time of alarm and shrieking on the part of the wicked; because a time of war and terror are brought on by the judgments and are about to come upon the earth.

Additionally, Yom Teruah is:

a day of new beginnings or renewal,

to wake up from lethargy and slumber, to be broken out of that sleepy, comfort zone state and to be awakened to action.

Again, remember the ten virgins of Matthew 25 who slept in anticipation of the bridegroom’s arrival? When the shout went forth that he was coming they were all awakened. Some were prepared to go into the marriage supper of the bridegroom and some were not. Our Bridegroom is Yeshua.

Take to heart the full ramifications of its’ spiritual and prophetic implications. If we consider ourselves to be part of the bride of Yeshua, then we will want to let the message of Yom Teruah sink deeply into our hearts and adjust our lives accordingly.

Truth & The End of Days

Messiah said: the truth will make you free, many translate it as: set you free. The word make, is constructive in making a change; whereas set free, describes more of a release from bondage. When we ‘make’ something, there is construction and the result is change.

In Hebrew, the word for truth, emet (אֱמֶת), contains the first, middle, and the last letter of the Hebrew alphabet,

Alef Mem Tav,

indicating that truth encompasses all things and endures from the beginning to the end and everything in-between.

Messiah not only effects freedom from the bondage of sin and death but also causes a change in us making us a new creation in Him.

Truth is not based upon or proved on facts.

Facts are not always Truth – emet – אֱמֶת .

Messiah said: I AM the way the truth and the life. (Derek Emet Chaim.) The words of the Father, Messiah and Their Spirit of Holiness are Truth. Ruach haKodesh is the spirit of truth. The Father is truth, Yeshua His only begotten son is the truth; He is also the Derek-Way and the Chaim – lifes.

What is really behind the changes in our weather patterns and the extreme swings we are seeing world-wide? It is by our Heavenly Father’s decrees, He is in control of everything because this is His creation. Science gives answers which are not our Fathers TRUTHS.

The only motive of this post is to give readers an opportunity to think, to encourage readers to look at some recorded historical information; and to confirm by their own personal research and/ or inner conviction by His Holy Spirit, that much of what we have been told for centuries and in some cases thousands of years is not the ‘whole truth and nothing but the truth’.

The signs of the end times are found in scripture particularly Matthew 24 and also in Mark 13:1–8Luke 21:5–9, and from physical evidence all around us it is a 99.9% certainty that we are in the closing moments of the age of grace/ age of the church, the ecclesia.

The time of the end, the latter days.

The Greek phrase “in the last days” (ἐν ἐσχάταις ἡμέραις) refers to the prophesied “End of Days,” sometimes called acharit ha-yamim (אַחֲרִית הַיָּמִים) in Hebrew.

Strong’s Hebrew: 319.

אַחֲרִית (acharith) — the after-part, end

The key word,

acharith

is a synonym for a bright future.

It means ‘hatikva,’ – hope,

The Bible has given us signs, and prophecy

to let us know the time of the end or,

the last days or, latter days, are upon us.

Also called Jacobs trouble and tribulation, and other terms that apply to the timeline. Whether months, weeks, days and seasons that unfold just prior to Messiah being told by His Father to bring a final conclusion to this age. And only the Father knows, and we must not be deceived by those who are giving dates or speak of being raptured and taken out of it all. We are to endure to the end, Matt. 24:13-15

36No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son,g but only the Father. 37As it was in the days of Noah, so will it be at the coming of the Son of Man. 38For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark.39And they were oblivious, until the flood came and swept them all away. So will it be at the coming of the Son of Man. 40Two men will be in the field: one will be taken and the other left. 41Two women will be grinding at the mill: one will be taken and the other left.

42Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day on which your Lord will come. 43But understand this: If the homeowner had known in which watch of the night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. 44For this reason, you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour you do not expect.

45Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom the master has put in charge of his household, to give the others their food at the proper time? 46Blessed is that servant whose master finds him doing so when he returns. 47Truly I tell you, he will put him in charge of all his possessions.

48But suppose that servant is wicked and says in his heart, ‘My master will be away a long time.’ 49And he begins to beat his fellow servants and to eat and drink with drunkards. 50The master of that servant will come on a day he does not expect and at an hour he does not anticipate. 51Then he will cut him to pieces and assign him a place with the hypocrites, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

The scriptures only speak of Messiah coming back one time. The verses in 1 Thess. 16-17 says that the dead in Christ are raised first and those who are alive when that happens are changed in the twinkling of an eye are caught up to meet Him in the air.

But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. 14For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. 15For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. 16For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 18Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

Then judgment falls on those not changed.

We are not to be looking for an easy exit we are to

endure to the end, having done all to stand firm in the faith.

And only our Heavenly Father knows when that is.

The signs symbols and seasons are also clear, there will be a great falling away and the wicked one will be revealed first.

Then the lawless one will be revealed and the Lord Jesus will slay him with the breath of His mouth and bring him to an end by the appearance of His coming. 2Thess. 2:8

So we will know who he is and we don’t have to waste time looking for him or guessing who it may be. Clearly we will know without a doubt. Secondly we will still be here on earth when he is revealed that is how we will know who it is. The whole pre, mid, or post tribulation is a divisive diversion from scriptural events and if we are focusing on them and which one it is, we are focusing on the wrong things.

We are to be about our Fathers business and to occupy til He comes. Sharing His good news making disciples, who will in turn share the good news and make more disciples. Feed the hungry etc., do what Messiah Yeshua/Jesus taught us to do. The days prior to His return, (not plural, returns,) are clearly detailed as to what the world will be like, what people will be like, and what physical events in the earth will be like.

2Tim.3:1-5  This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.

2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,

3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,

4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;

5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

The earth is groaning and we see it in the increase in earthquakes, volcanic eruptions and weather extremes. The earth is responding to the weight of sin and is filled with violence which occupies humanities days. Messiah’s own words told us clearly what it will be like and so did Isaiah in chapter 24:20 KJV: The earth shall reel to and fro like a drunkard, and shall be removed like a cottage; and the transgression thereof shall be heavy upon it; and it shall fall, and not rise again.

The earth shall stagger like a drunken man, and shall sway to and fro like a hammock; and the transgression thereof shall be heavy upon it, and it shall fall, and not rise again. – ASV

There are other references as well as those in Matthew, Mark, Luke, and Revelation, they are also in Joel Zechariah Daniel and Ezekiel….

It’s not a secret, it is not hidden, it’s plain and clear and detailed and it is going to be worse than anything that has happened before this time or ever will be again…In Messiahs words:

Matthew 24:21 For at that time there will be great tribulation, unmatched from the beginning of the world until now, and never to be seen again. 22 If those days had not been cut short, nobody would be saved.

In John 16:33 Jesus said in this world you will have tribulation it started 2000 years ago, we were all born into tribulation.

In the world you have tribulation and distress and suffering, but be courageous [be confident, be undaunted, be filled with joy]; I have overcome the world.” [My conquest is accomplished,

When John wrote in Revelation 6 of Messiah opening the first 4 seals, revealing the 4 horsemen of conqueror, war, famine, death and hell, today it would seem that they are already riding. There is no doubt there has been no peace in the world, with war after war; then famine and poverty has followed with death and hell right on their heels. These have all increased in intensity and as Messiah said in Luke 21:28 when you see all these things begin to come to pass (all at the same time), look up for your redemption draws near. He also said the generation that sees this happening will not pass until all has been fulfilled.

Matt 24:34 and Luke21:32 and Mark 13:30 The generation of people who see the signs – the trials: and final, hard labor pains – described in the previous verses that we know as the Tribulation. That “generation will by no means pass away till all [the things Jesus just discussed] take place.” Everything Jesus prophesied of in the chapter will occur within one generation.

Just as in the days of Noah and Lot, God intervened. He is the same yesterday today and forever and the day of reckoning is upon us; He is near even at the door.

The generation that saw the budding of the fig tree, Israel become a nation in a day 1948 will not pass. Those who remember the rebirth of Israel as a nation are in their mid 80’s and would have had to be old enough to understand what was happening. The age of the days of Grace are coming to an end and as the number of the gentiles to come into the kingdom of God is quickly being fulfilled,

For salvation (final deliverance) is nearer to us now than when we first believed (adhered to, trusted in, and relied on Christ, the Messiah). Romans 13:11

“The times of the Gentiles” is the biblical designation for a period of time beginning with the Babylonian Captivity (606 BC in which non-Jews have dominion over the world. This extends from the Babylonian conquest of Jerusalem and will end with the physical return of Messiah.

Our focus should be on reaching those who are lost and most importantly making certain our life is right before our Heavenly Father. Not putting off until tomorrow what we can do today . Forgiving everyone of wrongs done to us and seeking forgiveness ourselves. Walking in faith covered by the precious blood of our Lord and Savior Yeshua haMashiach, Jesus Christ. Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith.

Our Father must have overcomers for these closing moments, we are here and we are to endure to the end. It doesn’t sound too happy a time. It is easy for us to imagine that we will suddenly come to a point in our lives where we are fully prepared, but preparation is not suddenly accomplished. In fact it is a process that must be steadily maintained. It is dangerous to become settled and complacent in our present level of experience. The walk along the narrow way requires preparation and more preparation.

Messiah’s teaching can be summarized like this: the relationship He demands of us is an impossible one unless He has done a supernatural work in us. He demands that His disciples do not allow even the slightest trace of resentment in their hearts when faced with abuse, control and injustice. No amount of enthusiasm will ever stand up to the strain that Messiah will allow upon His servants. The only thing that will be able to bear the strain is a personal relationship with Him. One that has been examined, purified, tested and tried; until only one purpose remains and we can truly say, I am here for God to send me where He chooses.

The sermon on the mount is not unattainable because it’s a statement of what will happen in us when Messiah has changed our nature. He is the only one who can fulfill the sermon on the mount. It is a supernatural work and we cannot do it, we simply yield to Him to work in us according to His good pleasure. It is completed in Galatians 5:20 If we have been crucified with Christ then our selfish desires are also dead, and we must read this carefully ….the life that I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the son of God who loved me and gave Himself for me. His new life will become ours in direct proportion to our success in emptying our hearts of self-will, and we have to do that, we have to will it, He will not force us to be an overcomer, it’s our choice.

The time to get ready is NOW, today, before we face hard situations, not when those situations take us by surprise. We are not to be off guard but ready spiritually. We are to show forth the fruit of His spirit which cannot be produced by the carnal nature of man, only by the spirit of the living God within. We can’t suppress evil by ourselves we need His help to be delivered and to kill the old nature, to crucify it daily.

When His divine life is operating in our human heart it creates the fruit of the spirit. His spirit within us is manifest as we get out of the way. Love, joy and peace were natural to Messiah but are foreign to mans’ fallen nature. We will never produce them by speaking to suppress evil emotion. He brings them forth as we allow Him to live in us from our innermost being. His truth will make us free and will support and increase the measure of faith imparted to us.

We must not deny the truth of the word by preferring our own interpretation because there is no natural or political solution to a problem with a spiritual root. The situation will not change until our Father decrees it is time for Him to step onto the scene. We need to stop looking for an easy life of compromise, an easy and painless exit with our ticket to heaven and no effort on our part; and with no real understanding of the cost of our salvation and the price that was paid in Messiahs blood. It’s time to count the cost for those who are called by His name. John said in 1John 2:18-23

18 Little children, it is the last hour; and as you have heard that the Antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come, by which we know that it is the last hour. That was over 2000 years ago, now we are in the last seconds, be ready spiritually, be prepared mentally for the days that are ahead. Read Matthew 24, Luke21:32 and Mark 13:30 for the details of the things which are already happening to the earth. Read the verses and then watch the news reports, we are right there.

Romans 8:22 says that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth since the fall of mankind.

Time will prove all things. And His emet/truth alone will remain. Always remember His promises because we have a glorious future.

There will be a new heaven, a new earth. There will be no more pain, no more tears for those who accept Jesus as Lord. The earth will be new and sin will no longer have its dominion over us.

Only one life soon is past, only what’s done for Christ will last.

Whatever we choose to believe we need to be ready at any moment. He told us to stay alert, to watch and pray,

Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is. Mark 11:33.

because the Son of Man will come at an hour you do not expect

and the moment of your personal

catching away’ may be today.

Don’t be caught off guard!

Make certain Messiah Jesus/Yeshua is your Redeemer, Savior, Lord, Deliverer and soon returning King; and that you have a personal relationship with Him.

It’s all about Life and Relationship, NOT Religion.

You are very precious in His sight.

Not sure ..you can be…

SIMPLY SAY THE FOLLOWING MEANING IT FROM YOUR HEART..don’t delay one more minute,

SAY IT RIGHT NOW…

Heavenly Father I come to you in the Name of Jesus/Yeshua asking for forgiveness of my sins for which I am truly sorry. I repent of them all and turn away from my past. I believe with my heart and confess with my mouth that Jesus/Yeshua is your Son and that He died on the cross at calvary to pay the price for my sin, so that I might be forgiven and have eternal life in the kingdom of Heaven. Father I believe that Jesus/Yeshua rose from the dead and I ask you to come into my life right now and be my personal Savior and Lord and I will worship you all the days of my life. Because your word is truth I say that I am now forgiven and born again and by faith I am washed clean with the blood of Jesus/Yeshua. Thank you that you have accepted me into your family in Jesus’/Yeshua’s name.

Are We Blowing Our Own Trumpets?

In the above verses, we see that The Lord is commanding us to have a memorial of blowing trumpets every year on the first day of the seventh month of Tishri,(September), and He calls it a “holy convocation.”

In other words, a wedding rehearsal!

The offering that we make to Him on this day is an offering by “fire.”

In other words, our own lives are to be presented to Him as a living sacrifice. We allow the fire of the Ruwach ha’Qodesh (Holy Spirit) to purge and purify our lives so that we will be ready for the day when He returns to catch away His bride.

Jesus/Yeshua, is coming for a bride without spot or blemish. We must be purified by going through trials and tribulation in order to be ready for “The Day That No Man Knows!”At the conclusion of the 1,260-day ministry of the “Two Witnesses,” the “seventh angel” will sound (Revelation 11:15) and then the bride shall be changed in the twinkling of an eye at the “last trump.”

Revelation. (Chazown) 11:12-15 And they heard a great voice from heaven saying unto them, Come up hither. And they ascended up to heaven in a cloud; and their enemies beheld them…And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Master, and of his Mashiyach (Messiah); and he shall reign for ever and ever. Some scholars say there are 3 and some say 4, different trumpet blasts sounded on the Feast of Trumpets. The number “4” represents “the four corners” of the earth (the harvest field) and the “four angels” of the “four winds of heaven.”Chazown (Revelation) 7:1 And after these things I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree. These 4 types of trumpet blasts are as follows:

Trumpet #1.) is called the Tekyiah (T’kiyah) The Tekiah – A pure unbroken sound that calls man to search his heart, forsake his wrong ways, and seek forgiveness through repentance.

It can consist of one note (or blast) or it can be a low note near the fundamental tone of the horn that rises quickly about 3 notes higher. Finally, it can even be finished by a note that is a full octave higher.

Contrary to what is expected, it does not take a great deal of air to blow a shofar. The secret is the vibration of the lips (a minimum of 16 vibrations per second) that creates the vibration of air in the horn. The higher notes are obtained by tightening the lips.

Trumpet #2.)

The second sound is called the Shevarim (Sh’varim) Shebarim – A broken, staccato, trembling sound. It typifies the sorrow that comes to man when he realizes his misconduct and desires to change his ways. It sounds like a man moaning in repentance.

It consists of three blasts that are from the fundamental low to the next note up.Great playing shofars are ones that will produce three notes with relative ease. Some shofars (for various reasons) may produce only two notes and poor ones only one note. Each horn will have its own “voice” and sound in many keys. The texture of the finish, size, length and the diameter of the mouthpiece opening will vary the sound of the horn.

Trumpet #3.)

The Third sound is called the Teruah (T’ruah, teruwah) The Teruw’ah

It is Strong’s word #8643 8643 teruw` ah (ter-oo-aw’); from 7321 (ruah); clamor, i.e. acclamation of joy or a battle-cry; especially clangor of trumpets, as an alarum: KJV- alarm, blow (-ing) (of, the) (trumpets), joy, jubile, loud noise, rejoicing, shout (-ing), (high, joyful) sound (-ing).The same word is used for the “Shout” that is made with the voice! It was the “shout” of the shofars combined with the “shout” of the people that brought down the walls of Jericho. – A wave-like sound of alarm calling upon man to stand by the banner of Elohiym.

Teruah consists of 9 staccato notes in succession. It may be proceeded by a one-note tekyiah and may be finished by accenting the last note. Some will accent it and take it up a third. I believe that the Teruah is the “short blasts of alarm” as specified in Numbers 10:9.

Teruah means “an awakening blast”. A theme associated with Rosh HaShanah is the theme “to awake”. Teruah is also translated as “shout”.

In I Thessalonians 4:16-17 it is written:In I Corinthians 15:51-52 it is written:

“Behold, I show you a mystery, a sud,* we shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at THE LAST TRUMP: for the TRUMPET (shofar) shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible and we shall be changed”

(sud* = deeper spiritual meaning, explained in an earlier post)

https://www.minimannamoments.com/the-rules-of-pardes/

Trumpet #4.)

There is another blast called The Tekiah Gedolah (Great Tekyiah).  – The prolonged, unbroken sound typifying a final appeal to sincere repentance and atonement.

Some consider a fourth sound but it is simply a tekyiah held as long as breath lasts or is appropriate. Some shofar blowers can hold a note for over a minute! This 4th Trumpet is “the last trumpet” sound made on the Feast of Trumpets and this represents “the four angels from the four winds of heaven and the four corners of the earth” as they gather the elect (Matthew 24:29-31). Seven trumpets (shofars) are sounded when God judges the earth during the tribulation. Judaism concerns itself with three shofar calls of God. They are called the first trump, the last trump and the great trump.

The first trump was blown at Mount Sinai. The last trump is blown to signify the resurrection of the dead and may be blown on Rosh HaShanah. The great trump will signify the Second Coming of the Lord and is blown at Yom Kippur.According to other scholars, there are only two trumps, the first at Mount Sinai (Ex 19:19). and the last (great) that is blown by God (Yeshua) Himself at His return on Yom Kippur. (Isaiah 27:13, Zech. 9:14, Matt. 24:29-3I, 1st Thess. 4:16-17, 1st Cor. 15:52).

LISTEN HERE TO THE SOUNDS OF(Sounds take 10 seconds to begin.)

Once the horn of a ram, the shofar has been cut off and taken through a cleansing process, making it an instrument separated from any purpose other than responding to breath, (ruach), passing through its chamber. We the servants of the King, are maturing in the same process in the school of the Holy Spirit. (Ruach HaKodesh)From where specifically does the phrase last trump come?

In Judaism there are three recognized shofarim or ram’s horn trumpets.

They are the first Trump, the last trump, and the great shofar.

These shofarim should not be confused with the two silver trumpets called chatzatzerah in Numbers chapter 10.

The first trump and the last trump relate to the two horns of a particular Ram.According to Jewish tradition the Ram was caught in the thicket on Mount Moriah when Abraham was ready to slay Isaac and offer him up as a burnt offering.

This ram became the substitute and was sacrificed in place of Isaac, even as Yeshua the Messiah became the substitute for us and provided Life for us through His death.

In Pirke deR’Eliezer, (a rabbinic work,) it was said the left Horn, (first- trump), was blown on Mount Sinai when the Torah was given and it’s right horn, (the last trump), will be blown to herald the coming Messiah/Moshiach.The Midrash, (Hebrew Commentary), claims that the two horns of the ram became the two trumpets, which in Hebrew is, the shofarot of God.

The right horn was larger than the left, and thus concerning the days of Moshicah it is written,’on that day, a great shofar will be blown.’ (Tz’enah Urenah)Was not the ram burnt as a burnt offering together with its horns, skin and flesh? So how are there horns?

The answer is that undoubtedly God performed a miracle and created a new ram out of the ashes. The Ram was resurrected! Some believers have suggested that it is a reference to a prophetic vision. Perhaps what is being implied is that when Abraham looked up, he saw not only this ram caught in the thicket, but he saw a future sacrifice, one that would come long after his day.

“Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad.” (John 8:5-6)

What did Abraham see? Perhaps he saw the Lamb provided by God.

Was this particular ram created for this purpose since the first days of creation? In other words, Isaac’s ram was prepared for sacrifice since the foundation of the world. In the same way, Peter described the Master as “a lamb without blemish or defect, chosen before the creation of the world.” (1st Peter 1:19-20)

THE THREE TRUMPETS (SHOFARIM) OF GOD

The three great trumpets (shofarim) that mark MAJOR events in the redemptive plan of God are associated with days in the Biblical calendar. The FIRST TRUMP is associated with and was seen as being blown by God on the feast of Shavuot, (Pentecost), when God gave the Torah at Mount Sinai.

In Exodus (Shemot) 19:18-19 it is written:”And mount Sinai was altogether on a smoke, because the Lord descended upon it in fire: and the smoke thereof ascended as the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mount quaked greatly. And when the voice of the TRUMPET sounded LONG and waxed LOUDER and LOUDER, Moses spake, and God answered him by a voice” Patterns of sound, released from this instrument in faith and understanding and at the direction of the Holy Spirit, is one of the most powerful agents of change on the planet. Spiritual forces in the heavens understand fully and must respond to that sound. Portals/windows and doors in the heavens are opened and earthly atmosphere becomes charged with the power of the Most High.Spiritual forces and obstacles resisting His kingdom are removed, the heavens shift, walls fall down, and His people move forward to possess their inheritance and fulfill their destiny. All of creation longs for the mature ones of God to awaken and appropriate the sound of the victory won. נִצָּחוֹן (nee-tsah-KHOHN) is a victory.

Netzah is the Hebrew word for victory, or endurance; it represents God’s active grace in the world. The name YHVH Tza’va’ot is associated with Netzah.

The trumpets of Israel announced the coming of kings and kingdoms, the approaching of armies. So it is prophesied that when the trumpet sounds, the kingdom of God will come.

The trumpets called the people of Israel to gather before God. So it is prophesied that at the sound of the trumpet, God’s people will be gathered up to His presence. The sound of the trumpet was a wake-up call. So it is foretold that when the trumpets sound, the dead in Messiah will be awoken.

Lastly it was the sound of the trumpet that announced the beginning of the kings reign. So it is foretold that when the trumpet sounds, the reign of the King will begin, the kingdom of this world will become the kingdom of the Lord. The Feast of Trumpets/Yom Teruah/Rosh HaShanah and the Holy days of autumn are just as much a part of the Re-New-ed Covenant, as are the Holy days of spring.

They tell us that our faith, is not only in what was, but is in what is yet to come, as in Messiah. We live FROM salvation and yet, TO redemption, and we are above all, a people of hope. Flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God and the perishable cannot inherit the imperishable but there is a mystery awaiting us all….. at the sound of the last shofar in the twinkling of an eye the dead will be raised and transformed into immortal bodies. Techiyat ha-metim. When this happens death itself will be swallowed up in victory. Since Jesus our Lord delivered us from the curse of the laws verdict against us, on account of God’s love and grace; then we can rejoice that love is stronger than death. The ultimate victory over the ravages of sin will forever be reversed on behalf of Jesus our Lord and Redeemer.Your kingdom must now come on earth as it is in heaven.

The very last time that the word “trumpet” is mentioned in scripture is in Revelation 9:14 and it is when the four angels from the four winds of heaven are about to be loosed to gather the bride (the elect). This trumpet is about redemption! The first time God who called Himself, I AM / YHWH / Yaweh (YaHuWaH) established covenant with Abraham in Genesis 15:9, a three-year old ram was killed (symbolic of the three year ministry of Messiah). When Abraham offered up his son Yitzchaq (Isaac) to I AM / Yaweh / YaHuWaH, a ram was seen with his horns “caught” in the thicket as a substitute offering. so the “trumpet” or the “ram’s horn” is prophetically connected to covenant, redemption, freedom and deliverance! The term, ‘blowing our own trumpet’, is used in modern vernacular, as telling everyone proudly about your own achievements in a boastful way.

This is the world’s way, not the Lord’s Way.However as believers in Jesus our Messiah, it is indeed time to ‘blow our own trumpets’ …and in this instance it’s OK!… for the King is Coming!

If you’re not certain you are ready for His return, don’t leave this site without being sure. Go to the link below.. for you are precious to the Lord and greatly loved. Blessings and Shalom!

The Legend Of Messiahs Missing Shofar

Who will sound the ‘last trump’, spoken of in 1Corinthians 15:52  Elijah? Jesus? Sounding the Horn of the Messiah from Jerusalem, Israel.

“And it shall come to pass in that day, that a great horn shall be blown; and they shall come that were lost in the land of Ashur, and they that were dispersed in the land of Mitzrayim; and they shall worship Hashem in the holy mountain at Yerushalayim.” Isaiah 27:13 (The Israel Bible™)One of the landmark holy sites in Jerusalem’s Old City, the Rabbi Yochanan Ben Zakai Synagogue was built at the beginning of the 17th century. The synagogue is believed to stand on the location of the original study hall of Rabbi Yochanan Ben Zakai. He was a major rabbinic and scholarly figure in the Second Temple era, quoted throughout the Talmud.Johanan ben Zakai on the Knesset Menorah

Though it is impossible to say with absolute certainty when the Messiah will come, in an ancient synagogue in Jerusalem’s Old City, a shofar and jug of oil are patiently waiting on a high shelf for His arrival!

They are replacements for the originals, supposedly rescued from the Second Temple amidst Roman destruction, which disappeared in the heat of the 1967 battle for Jerusalem.Legends and mysteries surround the simple items   The synagogue is known for many things, but its most remarkable element could easily go overlooked. On the southern wall, on a glass shelf far too high to be readily accessible, sit a jug of olive oil and shofar. Tradition has it that when the Messiah arrives, Elijah himself will appear to blow the shofar and anoint Him with the oil.The shofar, or ram’s horn, is usually identified with Rosh Hashana, or Yom Teruah,

the Jewish New Year, when 100 blasts are traditionally blown from the shofar.

https://www.minimannamoments.com/midweek-mannabite-the-sound-of-the-trumpet/Usually shofars belong to individuals, who practice year-round, not to the synagogues themselves, making the Ben Zakai shofar unusual. They are among the most significant ritual items in Judaism. The shofar was used regularly in the Temple service,

and Jewish tradition holds that the sounds of the shofar will announce the arrival of the Messiah, just as they greeted the ancient kings of Israel. Many of these inhabitants of Jerusalem would be working in the fields or grinding at the mill (Matthew 24:40-42), and when they heard the sound of the shorar/showphar (trumpet) they knew that their work was finished. Our Messiah was speaking in the language of, ‘Feast of Trumpets’ typology, when He said that we must “work while it is yet day, for the night comes when no man can work” (John 9:24). Those who were working in the fields had to run towards the temple before the doors were shut. The person who was alert and listening for the sound of the shofar was “taken” by the sound of the trumpet; this was his signal to run towards the temple. But the person who was not alert and not watching, would not hear the sound of the trumpet, and they would be “left” in the field or grinding at the mill, unaware that the day had come. To Shimon Gantz, the manager of the synagogue today, told Breaking Israel News that he recently spoke with one of the first IDF soldiers to enter the Old City in 1967 after the Israeli liberation.Chief Military Rabbi Shlomo Goren at the Western Wall in 1967 shortly after the liberation of Jerusalem. (Wiki Commons)

Jerusalem – The Zion Gate – Hebrew שער“He told me that he entered the Old City via the Zion Gate, and immediately sought out the synagogue. His platoon arrived here when the battle was still raging. They were horrified to see the way it had been treated. It was vandalized and full of the worst kind of garbage.

But he also said that he was sure he saw the original jug of oil and shofar on the high shelf, untouched.

“Unfortunately, by the time the battle for the city was over and Jews re-entered the synagogue, the shofar and oil were gone,” Gantz told Breaking Israel News.

The shelf stood empty until 1978, when Yitzchak Navon, then-President of Israel, visited the synagogue.Accompanying President Navon was an elderly Jew who had prayed at the synagogue before the Jordanian occupation in 1947. Navon noticed his companion looking up at the empty shelf and asked what he was looking for. The man told Navon about the oil and shofar, obviously pained and disappointed at their absence. Navon promised to replace them. Later that year, a shofar and jug of oil were placed there by the president of Israel, and they remain on the shelf until today.Anyone can buy or own a shofar, making the Navon shofar special only in its connection to Israel’s modern history. From simple ram’s horns to ornate, silver-plated instruments, and gold plated the horn of the Messiah is available to all,  “In the past three years, we have sold hundreds of shofars in the months leading up to Rosh Hashana to Jews and Christians around the world,” he said.“Many of our customers, especially of Christian faith, are awaiting the end times and are purchasing shofars in order to be able to herald the arrival of the Messiah themselves,” Kellman added. But that doesn’t mean the Messiah’s own shofar is not still out there, waiting…..

In fact, a curious anecdote from Dr. Yahav Shmaryahu, the synagogue’s long-time caretaker, adds a new twist to the story. Three years ago, a small group of men approached Dr. Shmaryahu, asking for special permission to pray in the synagogue at midnight. While they were praying, one of the men looked up and at the shelf and shook his head in disappointment, telling Dr. Shmaryahu that the shofar was not the original.

“I knew this was the case, so this didn’t surprise me,” Dr. Shmaryahu told Breaking Israel News, “But then he claimed the original shofar was in his possession, and when the time came, he would return to the synagogue to blow shofar!!”

All that remains is for each of us to be ready spiritually and on that day, whoever blows it, we WILL hear the shofar sound of the Last Trump.
