Is there a connection between NASA and the Exodus?

These Are The Travels

נָסַע

Numbers 33:1

Says these are the travels of the children of Israel ..

So today we might comment saying:

That was then, this is now!

How is this relevant to us today?

Scripture reminds us in 2 Timothy 3:16  All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, conviction, rebuking, correcting and training/instruction in righteousness,

The journey, the travels of God’s children includes us, if we too are His children.

The Word tells us that salvation is of the Jews /Israelites…

John 4:22  22 Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews

..and it’s given to the Jews, the Hebrews, the children of Israel first, and then to the goy/gentile /heathen nations.

16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. Romans 1:16/17

Numbers 33 is a reference to our own spiritual journey and our relationship with God, our Heavenly Father. The ups and downs, twists and turns of their path through the wilderness, is a journey to discover Who God is as our Heavenly Father; and to deal with personal issues in regards to our relationship with Him and the rest of God’s family.

We know all too well if a relationship is not consistently worked on by both parties, it will slowly but surely die. Communication is the basis of life and if there’s no interaction, then it will first become stale and stagnant because no effort is put into keeping it alive and fresh, then it will wither and die. The parties becoming more and more separated and the distance increases over time to the point where, even a bridge cannot reach them both to reconcile them. It is not strange then, that  we have been given the ministry of reconciliation, and Messiah is the bridge because nowhere is too hard for His arm to reach.

Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation.

2 Corinthians 5:18-19

Here in Numbers, the word for travel in Hebrew is

nasa

which means:

to pull up, pluck up, tear up, put away, to remove.

Strong’s Hebrew: 5265.

נָסַע (nasa) — to pull out or up, set out, journey

5375 nasa or nasah:

to lift, carry, take

Original Word: נָשָׂא
Part of Speech: Verb
Transliteration: nasa or nasah
Phonetic Spelling: (naw-saw’)
Definition: to lift, carry, take

This is not the kind of travel, in the sense of traveling for a holiday or a vacation journey, or for a business trip as the world thinks of travel. The travel in Hebrew concept is:

to a new life – a new destination.

So here we see the travels, the nasa, of the children of Israel, had plucked them from Egypt and pulled them up out of bondage. These travels/nasa, were taking them and removing them from slavery and bondage. The nasa was

to a new life, a new destination, in a new land.

Here it’s is worth noting that the letters nasa, are used as an acronym for the National Aeronautic Space Agency, and what are they focused on? Space exploration and travel to new destinations, though some will say it stands for never a straight answer!

As believers in Messiah Jesus we often use spiritual concepts and we call it spiritualization. These are important because otherwise we would miss some of the things God is saying to us when we read statements like Numbers 33;1; thinking it’s just a historical fact or information with no spiritual message relevant for us today. Again if 1Timothy tells us that every word of God is inspired, then, theres a reason it is there; and we should therefore take the time to see what it is there for!

In Hebrew, a spiritual concept is sometimes called an Inyan; which is more like a general idea, as opposed to something specific.

Inyan – matter, business, thing –

een-YAHN : עִנְיָן

Yesh li inyanim – I’ve got things (to do), errands – יש לי עניינים

Hayu inyanim – There were “things” – “היו “עניינים

These concepts or ideas sometimes have subheadings which some call Bechinos.. בקינוס

Such terms of speech, by way of concepts and ideas, have been used for thousands of years by the Hebrew sages and rabbis/teachers. In the re-new-ed Testament, Yeshua Messiah Jesus used them all the time and an example is when He quoted from the scriptures.

Man shall not live by bread alone

to illustrate His own situation.

He was using an Inyan – a spiritual concept.

So the scripture in Numbers 33:1 is an inyan, revealing the concept of – going from slavery to freedom. It is the story of the children of Israel and us. They left Egypt which is also the picture of us coming out of the world system/the kingdom of darkness, and into the promised land the Kingdom of the Heavenly Father; and ultimately into a new land, a new heavenly kingdom of the spirit, the eternal realm of the creator of the universe.

Every place they camped, was a new challenge and a place to learn new lessons and grow, maturing in faith.

They were learning about themselves, as well as learning of the God of their Fathers. They saw His miracles, signs and wonders but they did not know His ways; they did not know His character as Moses did. He made known His ways unto Moses, His doings unto the children of Israel. Psalm 103:7

God had taken them out of the world, now He had to get the world out of them. Their deliverance from Egypt was more than physical bondage, they were bound spiritually and needed the delivering freedom that only a covenant relationship could provide. Their whole lifestyle had to change, just as it does for every believer; the old man, the carnal flesh life lived by the 5 natural senses, had to die and be transformed into the spiritual walk of the new life and the new relationship with our Heavenly Father.

As a personal inyan, this is our story; that of our journey, our nasa, to know God our Heavenly Father after we have accepted Jesus/Yeshua as our savior/Messiah.

In Matthew 7:13 Messiah spoke of our lives as that spiritual journey, walking a spiritual road, path or way..

“Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many.

…and in Mark 4 He describes the types of people and characteristics who will nasa/ travel along the paths.

Everyday is a new challenge and we take up our cross daily the symbol of death to the self life, to follow Him, not to follow our own way, not to follow religion, not to follow other people or popular preachers, nor ideas or idols. We must go forward and upward as there is no standing still in God; and in this statement we could insert an Inyan. Our walk could be likened to climbing a steep incline or hill, one covered in ice. A person can only go forward with consistent effort, and must keep going or they will slide backwards/backslide. We cannot stand still and every day in our walk it either brings us into a closer relationship with the Father and deeper within the boundaries of His kingdom; or further away from the light into the darkness of this worlds systems and all its’ temptations..

The ground has to be prepared so that when the seed of the Word of God is sown into our hearts, the ground is ready, all the stones and thorns have been pulled out and the soil is deep enough to allow healthy growth. Here in Mark 4 is another inyan:

In this first verse that seems at first glance to be just a statement, or headline, or title of what is to come next, here is the word nasa. The letters in Hebrew are:

nun, samek, ayin – n’sa

The meanings in the letters of the word help to remind us everyday that we have the opportunity to:

rise to a new level of faith-  nun

dependence on the father – samekh

and to Ayin – see His miracles at work in and through us.

Our nasa is a spiritual one because, it’s not by the energy of the flesh that we journey through the wilderness and enter into the Kingdom of the Heavens.

In Numbers 33:1 – 36:13 All the inhabitants of the land must be dispossessed and all their imagery had to be destroyed, then they could enter and possess the land.

No compromise. No negotiations. No diplomacy.

Luke 21:9 In your patience possess ye your souls – By your endurance gain ye your lives…

We are to be calm and serene, masters of ourselves, and superior to all irrational and disquieting passions by keeping the carnal flesh submitted to the spirit.

Before we can possess our souls we must clean out the land and in this case the land is us.

We too are to show no mercy, our feelings are irrelevant, we are to clean out the land. It seems ruthless and we are not to be shocked at the intensity and seeming lack of compassion; because these are the enemies of our souls. They are stumbling blocks to our spiritual growth and we are to purge our own lives and take possession of our God-given inheritance once and for all. We must be brutal and unforgiving toward sin and we must be merciless and cold blooded toward the flesh if there is any hope of driving out the enemies we have given refuge to. We must be hard with ourselves and refuse to be swayed and seduced into accepting any peaceful co-existence because, it will only be a false peace.

If we are to be Holy and set apart, the land/us, must be cleansed. If not these areas which remain will be as thorns in our sides, and pricks in our eyes vs.33:55,56. The consequences of not driving out every last resident will be a continual source of trouble. Any remnant left in a wound will fester and cause infection and further devastation and we should not underestimate its potential; think of how painful an eyelash can be! The removal is far less painful than the unending torment of their presence, which will not end until the root cause is permanently removed. We must not invite them to stay or see them as part of our personality and be comfortable with them. Once we allow sin to establish its stronghold, we are faced with the inevitability of 2 most unpleasant alternatives; either we allow it to fester and in the end give up to its deadly effects or, consent/agree to being kept still, as it is permanently ejected from us. If we don’t, vs. 55/56 warn us those that remain will be our ruin. The fight for our inheritance is right now, today. The inhabitants will cause us harm if we don’t drive them out.

We are often so quick to move forward and unwilling to wait. We want to get there quickly the sooner the better, we have a problem with it taking too long; this is why we need to develop patience. Our Father sees this not as arriving at our destination, but as the process of our maturing through the experience. We learn to trust in Him, we learn to walk according to the still small voice, we learn not to complain, not to get frustrated or irritated. We learn that He will supply our needs and we learn His word and His ways. It requires a long time because we learn slowly, line upon line and precept upon precept. Our true self is always exposed when we are under pressure, this is the refining of silver and the furnace for gold. Job 10.  All the impurities come to the top when heated and that is what is required, for us to see and deal with the flaws in our character. This is the reason we have trials in life, they are for our ultimate good.

There is a future Exodus ahead for us and we are in the wilderness now, on our journey our nasa, camping and moving from level to level, learning and being prepared to enter in to the promised land – heaven. Their journey, their travels their nasa is also ours and we have the benefit of His. written Word and His grace to strengthen our resolve so we can endure and end in victory; meanwhile these are the travels, our travels, our nasa towards our final exodus.

Come quickly Lord Jesus.

Shalom aleikhem

chaverim and mishpachah!

Peace to friends and family.

Shavua Tov, Have a blessed week.

Make certain Messiah Jesus/Yeshua is your Redeemer, Savior, Lord and soon returning King and that you have a personal relationship with Him.

It’s all about Life and Relationship, NOT Religion.

You are very precious in His sight.

Not sure ..you can be…

SIMPLY SAY THE FOLLOWING MEANING IT FROM YOUR HEART..don’t delay one more minute,

SAY IT RIGHT NOW…

Heavenly Father I come to you in the Name of Jesus/Yeshua asking for forgiveness of my sins for which I am truly sorry. I repent of them all and turn away from my past.

I believe with my heart and confess with my mouth that Jesus/Yeshua is your Son and that He died on the cross at calvary to pay the price for my sin, so that I might be forgiven and have eternal life in the kingdom of Heaven. Father I believe that Jesus/Yeshua rose from the dead and I ask you to come into my life right now and be my personal Savior and Lord and I will worship you all the days of my life. Because your word is truth I say that I am now forgiven and born again and by faith I am washed clean with the blood of Jesus/Yeshua. Thank you that you have accepted me into your family in Jesus’/Yeshua’s name.

What Is This Avodah You Have?

It is a sacrifice

Avoda, or Avodah

עֲבוֹדָה ‎

literally means: work, worship, and service.

The word for work in Hebrew, avodah, is the same used for prayer.

Sometimes spelled with a b instead of a v: Abodah;

as the letters b bet and v vet in Hebrew are interchangeable

 Avodah connotes service.

(It is also the word for slavery, which is involuntary service.)

The various usages of this Hebrew word found first in Genesis 2:15 tell us that YaHoVeH/God’s original design and desire is; that our work and our worship

would be a seamless way of living.

In some verses the word avodah means work, as in to work in the field and to do common labor.

Work is not only a necessary part of life, it is a form of service to the world, to the rest of humanity, and to YaHoVeH/God. We are meant to be of service, to be partners/coworkers with God in the ongoing creation of the world.

Strong’s Hebrew: 5656. עֲבֹדָה (abodah) — labor, service

Exodus 12:24 – 28

24  you are to observe this thing for it is a statute to and your sons forever –to the age. 25 It will be/come to pass when you come to the land which the Lord/Adonai will give you, just as He spoken/promised, that you shall keep this service/avodah. 26 And it shall be/come to pass, when your sons/children say to you, ‘What do you mean by this service?/ What is this Avodah you have?’ 27 that you shall say,  ‘It is a sacrifice of Pesach to Adonai/the Passover sacrifice of the Lord, who passed over the houses of the sons/children of Israel in Egypt/Mitzrayim when He struck the Egyptians and delivered our households.’ ” So the people bowed their heads down and worshiped. 28 Then the children of Israel went away and did so; just as the Lord had commanded Moses and Aaron, so they did.

The annual sacrifice of Pesach/Passover commemorates the night that the children of Israel/Yisrael were reborn; and it is the service/avodah that the nation is commanded to keep each year forever.

Jesus/Yeshua and all the New Testament authors celebrated them.

Notably, there is not one word in the New Testament suggesting that the church/ecclesia/called out ones, should stop honoring these Appointed Times/Moedim.

moe-eh-DEEM.   מוֹעֲדִים

These special times are also referred to as

mikra’ei kodesh

(מִקְרָאֵי קדֶשׁ),

“times in which holiness is proclaimed” (Lev. 23:2).

Passover/Pesach is the name of the celebration of the release of the children of Israel/Yisrael from Egyptian/Mitzrayim bondage. It is celebrated with a Meal/feast called Seder.

It is also called the Haggadah/the telling; as the history of their deliverance is recounted during the meal.

It is a matter of historical fact that in the year 196AD the celebration of Passover was replaced with the worship of Ishtar, the Babylonian and Syrian fertility goddess.

The name Ishtar was written in Greek as Istar because there is no ‘sh’ sound in the Greek language; because the Greek and Latin letters for I are pronounced EE, Istar became Easter when spelled with English letters.

The celebration of Ishtar brought with it eggs and rabbits, symbols of reproduction. This was done on purpose to separate from Hebrew/ Jewish roots and to make it easier for heathens to become ‘Christian’ by letting them retain the pagan customs. This was satans attempt to replace Messiah’s fulfillment of Passover as the Lamb of God, with the pagan-based Easter.

The great dispute, known as the Easter Controversy began in the 2nd century A.D. This is when Roman Bishops and Emperors sought to unite their entire kingdom empire, the eastern Asiatics (Israel and surrounding areas) with the western Roman churches (Italy and surrounding areas) for the purpose of celebrating EASTER their replacement of Passover, on the exact same day of the week. This plan was not fully successful until Emperor Constantine called for it, at the Council of Nicaea A.D. 321-325.

He ordered all Churches to celebrate the Resurrection of Christ on Easter Sunday. The ancient Church had celebrated the Resurrection correctly during the Passover [Nisan 14], which could fall on any day of the week, but the Churches near Rome (later known as Roman Catholic), had abandoned the practice because they hated the Jews, and fixed the date to the first Sunday after the first full moon of Spring. Our ‘Christmas’ was substituted for the Roman winter solstice celebration of the Roman god Saturn.

This information may shock many believers that this is true and it does not take much effort to check this out through research and to read that in Matthew 26:17 Luke 22:15 and John 13 there is no mention of Easter. Nor did Jesus/Yeshua ever tell us to celebrate His birthday! It’s a tradition of men and has sadly become commercialized with all the wrong emphasis. Jesus/Yeshua never said, I will celebrate Easter with you.

He said I have looked forward to eat this Passover Seder with you. So the question remains why are we referring to this appointed time of the Lord as Easter unless we are still pagans/ idolaters? It’s a subtle deception of the enemy and certainly something to think about!

3 John1:4 says . I have no greater joy than this, to hear that my [spiritual] children are living [their lives] in the truth.

The Truth is Yeshua/Jesus Himself.

He is the Way, the Truth and the Life; we must follow Him not traditions of men and doctrines of demons. Religious traditions are spoken of in several places.

Paul said in Acts 17:22

So Paul, standing in the center of the Areopagus [Mars Hill meeting place], said: Men of Athens, I perceive in every way [on every hand and with every turn I make] that you are most religious or very reverent to demons.

He said to them, All too well you reject the commandment of God, that you may keep your tradition. Colossians 2:8 Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’ For laying aside the commandment of God, you hold the tradition of men

Jesus said, further,

“full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition.”

That is precisely what the millions are doing today.

The traditions and doctrines of men make the Word of God of none effect. The traditions of men.

“Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things do ye.” (Mark 7:13 KJV)

The commandments of men.

“This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me; in vain do they worship me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men…” (Mark 7:9 ESV)

Matthew 15:9 They worship Me in vain; they teach as doctrine the precepts of men.’

Paul wrote to Timothy,

‘Now the Holy Spirit tells us clearly that in the last times some will depart from the faith; giving heed to seducing and deceptive spirits and teachings that come from demons (1 Tim. 4:1; ‘doctrines of devils’ – KJV

A doctrine is a teaching or a set of principles. The “doctrines of demons,” then, are things that demons teach; a set of beliefs or a teaching which demons try to propagate throughout the church for the purpose of deceiving the believers. Since demons are not visible (and if they were, we would hardly invite them to speak in church), they must take a deceptive route to get their false message heard.

1 Timothy 4:1, the ungodly teachings of Satan. Those who follow the doctrines of demons “will fall away from the faith.”

Coming back to the Pesach/Passover…

As a nation the Israelites were enslaved and repressed and cried out not knowing if that cry would be heard. The God of Israel did hear their cries and answered with miracles signs and with a deliverer.

That night was the end of Israel’s oppression and slavery and their houses were delivered.

This is why at the first spring Appointed Time of the Lord/Moedim, it is customary for the children to ask

‘why will tonight be different from all other nights?’

It is because Israel was set free as a new nation,

it is a night of celebration

of deliverance

of freedom and of salvation.

להציל – to rescue.

The root of להציל is נ.צ.ל meaning deliverance

חילוץ – extrication, release, rescue, evacuation

לְהַצִיל. More Hebrew words for rescue.

verb לְהַצִיל. save, salvage, deliver.

verb לְחַלֵץ. extricate, deliver, remove, disengage, salvage.

Strong’s Hebrew: 3468. יֵ֫שַׁע (yesha) — deliverance, rescue

להציל rescue

שחרור release

This account in the Bible was specific to God’s chosen people and as we are grafted in by His grace, it is also inclusive of all of us.

So at this time we will remember what He did for us so long ago, how in one night

He changed our lives forever.

We will remember His glory His power and His redemption.

At this season specifically we will remember how by the shedding of innocent blood we were set free.

At Passover/Pesach, let us recall how

Adonai/YeHoVeH saved Israel/Yisrael יִשְׂרָאֵל‎

and each one of us once and for all.

Yehoshua.

Phonetic Spelling: (yeh-ho-shoo’-ah)

Definition: “the LORD is salvation”

Strong’s Hebrew: 3091. יְהוֹשׁ֫וּעַ (Yehoshua)

This night is only the beginning as Israel was released,

so are we released to begin our true journey,

our halak, our walk along the way;

because, we are returning home;

our final destination in the heavenlies.

Strong’s Hebrew: 1980. הָלַך (halak) — to go, come, walk

Strong’s Hebrew: 4109. מַהֲלָך (mahalak) — a walk, journey …

Our deliverance has come, however, the path laid out before us by Adonai/YeHoVeH is still to be completed and how we walk along the WAY, will determine how our lives will unfold.

Will we follow His commands and inherit the promises or,

will we go astray and wander away from those promises and His peace/shalom?

We were oppressed by and enslaved to sin and we too cried out, not knowing if anyone would respond. Our Heavenly father heard our cries and answered with the most miraculous sign of the ages.

At Passover/Pesach, we too are reborn

because the shedding of the innocent blood of our deliverer Messiah Yeshua, Who was and is,

according to John/Yochanan 1:29

the lamb of God who is taking away the sin of the world.

How?

By obedience to His Heavenly Father’s will

and this was to fulfill His prophetic destiny

prophesied in the TaNaKH/Old Testament Scriptures.

(remember at the time he was on the earth there were no New Testament writings).

Obedience is the Lambs’ blood on your doorpost…

since our Heavenly Fathers’ sovereign purposes are fixed according to the counsel of His own good pleasure.

His obedience demanded a sacrifice and the shedding of innocent blood.

To redeem us and restore the way to the Father.

Everything He did was to glorify the Father. He only spoke and did what He was told to do and say. His blood was the perfect price paid, and still speaks today, crying mercy/ forgiveness for each one of us.

רחמים.  Mercy, compassion, womb – רַחֲמִים

Ra-chem: give or have mercy pity,

compassion is the imperative form

commanding or requesting something from others.

Strong’s Hebrew: 7349. רַחוּם (rachum) — compassionate

The Korban principle from Leviticus 17 states: when a person sins against the Lord he or she deserves to die. The accuser/ satan comes before God and makes a case for the person soul however god allows the death of a sacrificial victim to take the place of the sinner.

The guilty person leans his hands on the head of the animal and says this: I deserve to die instead of this innocent animal (an ox, sheep or goat;) but the Lord mercifully accepts the death of this innocent one in my stead.

When God sees the shed blood, or the ascending smoke of the sacrifice, He forgives the sinner based on his faith and repentance.

Strong’s Hebrew: 7133. קָרְבָן (qorban) — oblation

the korban (קָרְבָּן qorbān), also spelled qorban or corban, is any of a variety of sacrificial offerings described and commanded in the Torah.

The plural form is korbanot, korbanoth or korbans.

A korban was a kosher animal sacrifice, such as a bull, sheep, goat, or a dove that underwent shechita

(Jewish Ritual Slaughter).

The Hebrew word korban comes from the root korav meaning to come close, specifically to come close to God. The offerings/ korbanot were meant to bring someone who was far from God back into close fellowship once again.

Hebrews 9:22 without the shedding of blood there is no remission.

The substitutionary shedding of blood,

the life for life principle, is essential to the true

at one ment with the Lord God.

As we consider

פסח  Passover/Pesach,

Unleavened Bread/CHag HaMatzot

סעודת לחם לא מבושל

(Unleavened bread is a flatbread that consists of no rising agents known as Matzah. Strong’s Hebrew: 4682. מַצָּה (matstsah))

and First Fruits/Resurrection

חג השברים הראשונים

Strong’s Hebrew: 1061. בִּכּוּרִים (bikkurim) — first fruits

this week, let’s remember

the power of Jesus/Yeshua’s blood.

He opened up His own body to be the perfect sacrifice for sins by his shed blood we have complete atonement before the Lord.

The Levitical system of animal sacrifices

was meant to foreshadow

the true and abiding sacrifice of Jesus/Yeshua,

as the means of our reconciliation with God

and if they are not merely covered

they are taken entirely away. Hebrews 9:24

He is not dead He is alive.

We were dead in our sins…

and only the blood of the sinless lamb of God/YaHoVeH can take away our guilt and make us alive to God, in and through Him.

The Lamb’s blood must be applied and remain on the doorpost of our hearts.

There is no other way and we must be mindful of what we are celebrating and why, and not just thoughtlessly join in with religious traditions of men and doctrines of demons.

We are to be making certain that we are not named among Revelation 2’s seven churches and in particular the one at Ephesus; who were guilty of the sins of the Nicolaitans.

Their doctrines compromised with worldly ways, amounting to idolatry, materialism and tolerance of immorality.

Passover/Pesach reminds us…

we are new again,

we are set free

and it also draws to our attention that our salvation is only the beginning.

It is up to us how we will walk the path that is laid out before us.

It is up to our free will whether we wander off that path and misuse our salvation.

What will we choose?

His way or our way?

Will we follow His commands and walk in the ways of our savior?

What is this Avodah you have?

For there is hope – ki yesh tikvah

because

It is a sacrifice of Passover/Pesach

to YeHoVeH the God of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and Israel.

Thank you Father/Avinu for the Pesach/Passover sacrifice of Your Son Jesus/Yeshua.

It is by His Blood that we have been PASSed OVER.

Strengthen us to walk in the path You have set for us and to follow Your commands.

Though the Christian Old Testament is the result of the canonization of the Jewish scriptures, the order of the books in the Tanakh is not identical to the Christian Old Testament (though the content is the same, the chapter and verse references are not).

כתבי הקדשׁ  – Kitvei HaKadosh – The Hebrew Scriptures

Almah is a Hebrew word – עַלְמָה – for virgin.

Almah (עַלְמָה ‘almāh, plural: עֲלָמוֹת ‘ălāmōṯ), from a root implying the vigour of adolescence and puberty.

It is a Hebrew word for a young woman of childbearing age. … Etymologically, the meaning of the word almah is derived from the verb almah, to hide, or to conceal which helps to support the virgin interpretation.  Being careful here in connecting the concept of being hidden with that of being a virgin, especially since some of the almah’s in the bible went about freely in public and were anything but hidden (Gen 24:43 and Psalm 68:25 -26).

Almah definition, (in Egypt) a woman or girl who dances or sings professionally.

In the second book of Torah in Exodus. Shemot – שְׁמוֹת ….

is the story of a young maiden, Miriam/Mary who was the one who watched over the baby Moses in his box/ark as he floated down the Nile River towards his destiny as a Redeemer of Israel; their mother having set him afloat so he would not be killed by Pharaoh’s servants and soldiers.

This occurred not long after Pharaoh decreed that all newborn Hebrew boys were to be drowned in the Nile river. Previous to this, Miriam’s mother, Yocheved, had hidden Miriam’s infant brother, Moses, for three months.

Miryam watches as Pharaoh’s daughter finds the basket.

Ex. 2:5 And the girl went and got the baby Moses’ birth mother, Jochebed, Pharaoh’s daughter Batya said to her, “Take this baby and nurse him for me, and I will pay you.” So the woman took and the baby and nursed him. When the child grew older, she took him to Pharaoh’s daughter who adopted him and he became her son. She named him Moses, saying, “I drew him out of the water.”

Almah is also found in Isaiah 7 where the prophetic word states that an Almah will conceive and bring forth a child.

Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin (almah) will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel. Isaiah 7:14

This Messianic prophecy is further complemented by a description of this same child found in Isaiah 9:6 which reconfirms the name Immanuel. The Septuagint (Greek copy of the Old Testament) chose the specific Greek word for virgin in this same Isaiah 7:14 prophecy many years before Yeshua/Jesus was born. In the New Testament, Matthew 1:18-23 confirms that Yeshua/Jesus, The Messiah, was the one foretold about in Isaiah 7:14.

Gen 24:43, here “almah” refers to Rebekah, a virgin.

Exodus 2:8, here almah is used to describe Moses’ s young sister, a young girl who is likely a virgin.

Song of Solomon 6:8, classifies Solomon’s women into three categories: wives, concubines and virgins. If they were not virgins, they would be concubines, suggesting almah means virgin.(4)

Scriptures of interest include:

Psalm 68:25, Song of Solomon 1:3, Proverbs 30:19 and Isaiah 9:6.

The Hebrew word almah is not used to describe a virgin 100 percent of the time however, it may have been the best choice in Hebrew and Greek wording.

All believers understand that this prophecy tells of the virgin (almah) birth of our Messiah Jesus Christ/Yeshua HaMashiach. Complemented with Isaiah 9:6 which is a further description of this child, including His divine attributes, it fits perfectly with the child’s name/title here, Immanuel (God is with us).

True biblical prophecy works together with other areas of scripture, meaning words in scripture support scripture.

This child’s birthplace can be found in Micah 5:2

A ruler out of Bethlehem, this child’s name/title can be found here in Isaiah 7:14 (Immanuel).

His divine attributes are found in Isaiah 9:6 and Isaiah 43:11.

The time of his death is found in Daniel 9:24 – 27.

His resurrection is found in psalm 16.

His return to earth (second coming) is found in 12:10 where Israel will look upon the one that is pierced which is further supported in Zechariah 14: 1-7 which brings Daniel’s 70th week (see Daniel 9:24-27) prophecy to an end.

All of these prophecies work together and no one prophecy needs to stand alone.

Some other Marys Almahs and Miryams

John tells us that early on the first day of the week, (Feast of Firstfruits) while it was still dark,

Mary Magdalene went to the tomb and saw that the stone had been removed from the entrance.

” Early on the first day of the week, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene went to the tomb and saw that the stone had been removed from the entrance.”

John: 20:1

The first people to the tomb were women and 2 out of the 3 of them were called Mary. However all 3 may have been called Mary according to Mark 16:1 Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and {Mary} Salome went to the tomb.

Mary, (Hebrew Miryam), was one of the most common women’s names in New Testament times, and so it is not surprising that the crucifixion and resurrection narratives seem to speak of as many as five separate Marys.

As we all know the mother of Jesus/Yeshua was also called Mary (Hebrew Miryam); who, John tells us in 19:25, was at the cross with Mary the wife of Cleophas, and Mary Magdalene.  ‘standing by the cross of Jesus were his mother and his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene.’

Mary is pronounced MARE-ee. It is of Latin origin, and the meaning of Mary is “star of the sea”.

Other possible meanings from the Hebrew are:

wished-for child;

rebellion;

sea of bitterness.

Another meaning of Miriam is “Mistress of the Sea”. Keeping in mind that many names may have different meanings in other countries and languages.

Transliteration: Miryam

Original Word: מִרְיָם

The name Maria (or Mary) is the Greek transliteration of an older version of the name Mary from the Hebrew name Miriam, the name Mareike means: Bitter or Sea, the same as Maria in Dutch.

The young woman in the exodus story was Mary/Miriam. רְיָםמִ strongs 4813 Miryam a sister of Aaron and Moses pronounced MEER-ee-em.

Most scholars derive the name Miriam from the verb מרה (mara) meaning to be bitter, rebellious or disobedient.

Strongs 4755 Mara מָרָא (pronounced MAHR-ah – maw-raw’) Mara: “bitter,” symbolic name of Naomi MARA. ma’-ra, mar’-a (marah, “bitter”): The term which Naomi applies to herself on her return from Moab to her native country.

Phonetic Spelling: (meer-yawm’)

Word Origin rom the same as Merayah

Original Word: מְרָיָה

Transliteration: Merayah

Waters of bitterness or sorrow

Exodus 15:20. Miriam the prophetess — ΄αριαμ in the Greek, in the Latin Maria, from the Hebrew word מרה marah, bitterness. She was so called, say some, from the times of affliction and bitterness, (Exodus 1:14.) in which she was born.

There are several meanings behind the name Miriam, spelled ‘mem’, ‘reish/resh’, ‘yud/yod’, ‘mem’ in Hebrew (מִרְיָם),

Various Jewish sources relate to either bitter, water, rebellion or elevation.

One meaning is based on the letters ‘mem’, ‘reish’ of her name spelling “mar” (מר) which means “bitter”. This connotes the fact that Miriam was born during the beginning of Pharaoh’s bitter decrees as in the verse, “And the [Egyptians] embittered [the Jews’] lives with hard labor.

However, another meaning of mar (מר) is water as in the verse, “The nations are as a drop of water (c’mar) from a bucket”.

Miriam’s strong association with water includes her involvement in saving Moses at the Nile, singing praise to God after crossing the Sea of Reeds or Red Sea and the special well or spring of water called the “Well of Miriam”. In her merit, this well miraculously provided water for the Jews by accompanying them throughout their wanderings in the wilderness.

There is a Hebrew teaching that says, “Three great leaders led Israel: Moses, Aaron and Miriam.

In their merit they received three great gifts: the Well [Miriam],

the Clouds of Glory [Aaron]

and the Manna [Moses].”

When Miriam died, the well was removed as is evidenced by the fact that immediately after the verse And Miriam died, the Torah states, The People had no water.

After Miriam’s death, this is the significance of the verses where Moses is searching for and eventually strikes the rock, in order to restore its’ waters, which had dried up with Miriam’s death.

Concerning the death of Miriam, the Torah (First 5 books of Old Testament) states:

The entire congregation of the children of Israel arrived at the desert of Tzin in the first month, and the people settled in Kadesh. Miriam died there and was buried there”.

By identifying Miriam’s death as occurring in the 1st month the Torah reveals that she died in the Hebrew month of Nisan and indicate that the day of her passing, (yahrtzeit), was the 10th of Nisan.

The Sages taught that the Torah’s account of Miriam’s death follows immediately after the laws of purification through the red heifer. This may have been to in order to emphasize and teach that, just as sacrifices bring atonement, so the death of the righteous secures atonement.

Miriam’s great level of purity and righteousness is indicated by the fact that God chose her as the holy (set-apart) person through which to express this teaching. Also noted is that as did Aaron and Moses, Miriam also died through the painless kiss of death, whereby the Divine Presence is revealed to the departing soul as God lovingly draws it back within Himself.

The Sages also explains that this well was the same rock from which Moses brought forth water after Miriam’s death, but adds that it was round as a sieve; such that it would miraculously roll along with the Israelites on their journeys through the desert.

It further states that when they encamped, the leader of each Tribe took his staff to the well and drew a line in the sand toward his Tribe’s encampment. The waters of the well were drawn after the mark and thus supplied water for each of the Tribes. In this way, Miriam was a source of sustenance for all of Israel.

According to one opinion of the Sages, Miriam’s Well is now in the Sea of Galilee (the Kinneret). Based on verses which suggest the travelling and coming to rest of the well, they note: “One who ascends to the top of Mount Yeshimon on the Golan Heights, which overlooks wastelands (yeshimon) to the east one can see [looking west] a kind of small sieve in the Sea of Tiberius [the Sea of Galilee]. This is the Well of Miriam.”

According to another opinion of the Sages, the Well of Miriam came to rest in the Mediterranean Sea and can be seen from the heights of Mount Carmel on the coast of Haifa.

In addition, since water is associated with chesedcompassionkindliness – this meaning behind Miriam indicates her special acts of kindness in serving as a midwife,

devoting herself to the needs of her suffering people and sparing Israelite infants from Pharaoh’s evil decree.

Another meaning behind Miriam is related to the letters ‘mem’, ‘reish’, ‘yud’ of her name spelling: meri, (מרי) which means “rebellion”.

This makes reference to the way she rebelled against Pharaoh’s orders that the Jewish midwives kill all male infants. She even rebelled against her father who, in the name of sparing Hebrew infants from death, caused couples to separate so they wouldn’t have children. Once she convinced her father of his mistake, Amram remarried Yocheved, followed by the other Israelite men, after which time Moses was born.

A last meaning is based on all of the letters of the name Miriam, ‘mem’, ‘reish’, ‘yud’, ‘mem’ spelling the word: merim – (מרים) which means elevate. In the merit of saving the new-born Israelites, thereby building the House of Israel, God blessed Yocheved that He would make from her houses of cohanim and leviim and from Miriam, houses of kingship. Merim here indicates the fact that Miriam, from whom King David came (through her husband Calev of Judah), was elevated to house the Davidic Dynasty which is destined to elevate the Hebrew nation and the perfected community of humanity to Redemption and the World to Come. This might be consistent with an idea which, although not found in Jewish sources, is based on the suggestion that mri in ancient Egyptian means beloved.

The song of Miriam, Exodus 15:20-21 Miriam became the leader of the Hebrew women when they and their families escaped from Egypt. On one occasion she and the women sang the Song of Miriam; it is one of the few poems that survive from the ancient world.

Exodus 15:20 Then Miriam the prophet, Aaron’s sister, took a timbrel in her hand, and all the women followed her, with timbrels and dancing.

Then over 1000 years later another baby was born. She was named after this Almah. Moses sister Miriam.

In our translations we know her as Mary.

Meaning of Mary: Usual English form of Maria, which was the Latin form of the New Testament Greek names Μαριαμ (Mariam) and Μαρια (Maria) – the spellings are interchangeable – which were from the Hebrew name מִרְיָם (Miryam).

Usual English form of Maria, which was the Latin form of the New Testament Greek names Μαριαμ (Mariam) and Μαρια (Maria) Like other typical Levite names, the name Miriam is probably Egyptian of origin, and mentioned earlier, derived from a word that means Beloved.

To a Hebrew audience, particularly one that didn’t speak ancient Egyptian, the name Miriam/Mary would have seemed obviously akin the verb מרה (mara) meaning to be rebellious or disobedient, or the related verb מרר (marar), meaning to be bitter or strong.

The meaning is not known for certain, but there are several theories including, (as previously mentioned): sea of bitterness, rebelliousness, and wished for child. However it was most likely originally an Egyptian name, perhaps derived in part from mry – beloved, or mr – love.

This is the name of several New Testament characters, most importantly Mary the mother of Messiah.

Matthew 1:18. “Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.”

There is the general belief that the name Mary in the Hebrew is Miriam. The problem with this is that Miriam as we have seen, means rebellious or bitter.

However she was always called Miriam and she was the true Almah, the one chosen as the vessel (womb/racham) to bring the Messiah, the Redeemer, into our world as a baby. Isaiah 9:6

This word Almah, also means, One who is hidden; as in Hidden from the world, (the place of hiding in the womb/racham) separate, pure and untouched.

The Hebrew verb: רָחַםrâcham (Strong’s #7355, x47) – to have mercy, and its corresponding noun: רַחַם – racham (Strong’s #7356, x44) mercy, compassion, womb, bowels.

רחמ

This word can also be applied to those who desire and then choose to become pure, untouched, separate from sin cleansed and holy/set apart. These will be the ones who will bear God’s presence and be a channel, a vessel for bearing God’s blessings into the world.

It is there, for whosoever will, to become a spiritual Almah.

To separate ourselves from whatever is pulling us in another direction and to join ourselves all the more securely to the Father.

There is no better time than right now at this season of new beginnings, of new life; to renew our covenant with the Lord, to rededicate our lives.

As we follow the days of Omer to Pentecost, we can prepare our hearts with some spiritual spring cleaning in readiness for the outpouring of His spirit, 50 days from Resurrection Day.

It was no coincidence that on Nisan 17 daytime – That among the women bringing spices to the tomb early in the morning were two called Mary/Miriam. Who had separated themselves (the ecclesia) to the service of their Lord and had been made clean, holy, set apart, in His sight.

Mark 16:1 – Three women visit Jesus’ tomb: Mary Magdalene, a second Mary the mother of James, and (Mary) Salome.

Having been given new life for old, they sought Him out from where He was Hidden from the world,

(the place of hiding in the womb/racham) in the tomb and resurrected raised as the seed,

Yeshua/Jesus the Messiah of new beginnings – Yeshua the Resheet on Reishit Katzir, the beginning of the Harvest; Chag Ha-Bikkurim –the first fruits festival.

(Weymouth New Testament):

In most solemn truth I tell you that unless the grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains what it was–a single grain; but that if it dies, it yields a rich harvest.

“Unless a grain of wheat falls to the ground and dies”

All food has to die first.

The grain is plucked from the ground, dies, is crushed, mixed and baked to make bread. The fresh fruit and vegetables we eat, were all cut off and removed from their life support and are in the process of dying when we eat them.

Then after Mary saw Jesus; the disciples encounter the risen Messiah and on Nisan 17 evening – Yeshua/Jesus raised from the dead at/after Havdalah, (at least before sunrise).

Interesting notes to questions that we have misinterpreted because of mis-translation, Hebraic meaning and culture.

What was the seating arrangement at the last supper, (Passover) and how did Judas get to sit at the place designated for the gathering’s most honored guest? Who prompted the Lord to reveal the name of His betrayer?

The upper room as it is today.

Most of us think of the Last Supper in terms that are familiar to us. In our imagination Jesus/Yeshua and His disciples sit around a square table on chairs. Jesus/Yeshua is at the center and His disciples are around him.

The famous painting of Leonardo Da Vinci may also be uppermost in our thinking.

The seating of guests in chairs, implied in Leonardo da Vinci’s Last Supper painting, were not used for this most solemn occasion.

Some scholars say the layout of tables may have taken a horseshoe shape.

At the Pesach/Passover supper, everyone reclined on one elbow and yet still faced the table. (As in the diagram above.)

This meant that they lay head towards table and feet away from it.

The person who reclined in front of another was referred to as reclining or leaning on the bosom or chest; or more commonly spoken of as the lap of that individual. Not literally leaning on the persons chest.

This was the meaning in John 13:23, 25; at the last Seder, Pesach supper meal. To be in Abraham’s bosom meant to have the place of honor at a banquet, in Luke 16:23 where it refers to Lazarus in Abraham’s bosom. This was in reference to him being a partaker of the same state of peace and joy as Abraham had in paradise awaiting Messiah. Here may be where we have misinterpreted that reference in John 13:25: Now there was leaning on Jesus‘ bosom one of his disciples, whom Jesus loved.

In the seating diagram above, Judas is sitting to the left of Jesus/Yeshua, in the place designated for the most honored guest. Although the host would normally select who sat next to him, (see Luke 14:7 – 11), no record exists of Yeshua/Jesus asking Judas to sit next to Him. Judas likely felt he deserved to be the honored guest at the supper and quickly claimed the choice position as his right.

Apparently at a Jewish meal, the top place was at the head end of the table or the middle of the middle couch, however the guests, were not really free to sit where they desired. The host could seat and reseat guests as needs arose. Jesus gives an example of the host asking a presumptuous guest to give up his place of honor to another guest.

Luke 14:1 – 14 When he noticed how the guests picked the places of honor at the table, he told them this parable: “When someone invites you to a wedding feast, do not take the place of honor, for a person more distinguished than you may have been invited. [9] If so, the host who invited both of you will come and say to you, ‘Give this man your seat.’

Based on Jewish law and tradition, Passover (and most meals) was partaken of while people reclined around a low, long oval table.

Each person would be lying on their left side and leaning on their left arm, with their feet behind them and their heads facing the table. This means those seated on the left side would have their bodies somewhat facing the end of the table. This position, during a meal like the last supper, frees up the right arm for eating.

Jesus/Yeshua was the host of this seder meal – (the leader). Although the Bible does not directly state the seating for this last meeting, we can postulate where Judas, Jesus, Peter, and John would have had to sit.

It should also be noted that Peter, in the seating diagram below, is located across from John at the end of the table. This was, (especially during this most solemn seder,) the lowest and most humble place at the table.

Is there evidence from the Scripture to show that the above seating arrangement for Yeshua/Jesus’s last gathering with His disciples is correct?

In the gospels it tells us that Peter had to get John’s attention in order for him to ask Yeshua/Jesus who was going to betray Him. (John 13:21, 24).

This would have been unnecessary if Peter was seated next to John. Peter, however, had to be close enough to John so that his request wouldn’t be heard by the others. John then leans backwards against Yeshua/Jesus’ chest to ask Him. (John 13:23-25).

Given how people sat to eat a meal, John had to be immediately to Yeshua/Jesus’ right while at the table. This position enabled him to slightly lean back and be against the Lord’s chest. Additionally, the interaction that involved Peter, John, Yeshua/Jesus and Judas, was quiet and close enough so that the other disciples didn’t know what was said (see John 13:28). This meant they didn’t know that, during the meal, the betrayer would be the one given a piece of bread, the sop.

The host of a formal meal or supper would give, the honored guest, at the table the first sop. The sop was a piece of bread or other small amount of choice food that is dipped in a sauce. The host, once he had the sop, would place it into the mouth of the honored guest. This guest always sat to the left of the host, in John 13:21, 25-26, the Bible clearly states was Judas Iscariot.

After receiving the sop, Judas asked if he was the betrayer, which Messiah confirmed that he was in Matthew 26:23-25. Satan then immediately enters Judas and he leaves the room.

The 9 disciples who didn’t hear what was discussed, were unaware of what was happening (John 13:28-29). After Judas left and the seder was finished, Yeshua/Jesus did something that caught the disciples off guard. He took off some of His clothes, wrapped a towel around his waist, and then began at Peter to wash the disciples’ feet (John 13:3-8)! Peter was the first to receive this ceremony since he sat at the end of the table. His seating also explains his initial impulsive rejection of having his feet washed (John 13:6)

Reclining to eat in first Century Israel was symbolic of their freedom from Egyptian bondage, no longer slaves. At Passover as at every seder meal, They reclined as described in the four Gospels. It was understood that when it was written that they reclined it was because they were eating a meal. So as to not take up much space at the table the couches or pillows they reclined on were angled toward the table. They were not full the length of a couch alongside the table.

In Hebraic thinking, the Seder plate holds the place of honor at the Passover table!

2 X 3000 = A Marriage Made In Heaven?

2 X 3000 = A Marriage Made In Heaven?

In the Hebrew Spiritual Calendar, we have just come from 1st Spring Appointed Time of Passover/Pesach to the 4th Spring Appointed Time, Pentecost/Shavuot.

Pronounced sha-voo-ote.

We may have met Messiah along the Emmaus road and been compelled to return to Jerusalem and WAIT for the Promise while Counting the Omer.

These 50 days between the Feasts, are designated as a time of introspection, repentance and preparation; making ourselves ready for His coming, the outpouring of Holy Spirit/Ruach HaKodesh.

The infilling of His power for us to become His witnesses. The Appointed Times/Feasts of the Lord, were part of the annual cycle of Adonai’s Plan of redemption and kept by the Israelites as part of their normal lifestyle.

So why are these Appointed Times important to us?

Here are some things to consider.

If we are the grafted in believers that we say we are; then, as part of the Olive Tree/ spiritual Israel, what affects Israel and what is important to them should also be important to us. We cannot be joined to them in one way and not in others and it’s not for us to pick and choose which bits we want or not.

An understanding of the meaning behind their observances gives a clear picture of Messiah and how it all fits together.

In Deut.16:10-11 and Leviticus 23:15-21, God commands the Israelites to count 50 days from Passover/Pesach to Pentecost/Shavuot. (Another name for Shavuot is Feast of Weeks). This 50 day count is known as “the counting of the Omer.”  An omer is a biblical measure of grain.

On the second day of Passover, an omer of barley was offered in the temple signaling the start of the harvest and the beginning of the 50 day count to Shavuot. This is because it’s a commandment of the Lord/Adonai, to always remember the appointed times that He set into the calendar at the time He made His first covenant with the children of Israel. And because this was an annual rehearsal for them, which they would pass down through the generations until the time that it was fulfilled in the person of Messiah.

Exodus 32:20; Leviticus 23:15– 21. You shall count 50 days to the day after the seventh Sabbath; then you shall offer a new grain offering to the Lord. The Omer was parched in fire –

Fire represents Judgment – Gen 19:24; Ex 9:23 Jer 52:13, Rev 20:10

Fire represents Refinement and Purification Ps 12:6; Zech 13:9,M 3:3

Fire represents the Trials of our Faith – 1 Pet 1:7, James 1:2,3,12

The Omer was tossed in the wind – Omer tossed to the wind represents Every Kind of Doctrine – Eph 4:8-14;

A time of counting the days for (50) PENTE the COST of being His disciple. Luke 14:25. Prepares us to receive all He will release preparation through fire, repentance and cleansing leads to deliverance and freedom.

I set you free to serve Me.

(Actually meaning to return to the WAY that He had intended for humanity to walk before Him, was now given in Torah/Instructions)

This is in reference to the prophecy in Malachi and will be mentioned later.

https://www.minimannamoments.com/counting-our-blessings-with-omer/

This was the observance for the feast of Shavuot. It takes place seven weeks, or 50 days after the Passover/Pesach. The rabbis realized that this was the same time Moses had gone up on Mount Sinai to receive the guidelines for their new lifestyle having come out of the bondage of Egypt.(We know it as the 10 Commandments).

So Shavuot became a day to remember the giving of the Torah directions.

It is one of and the 3 annual appointed times of the Lord when all men were required to go to Jerusalem.

then

and now. (Passover, Pentecost and Yom Kippur)So on the 50th day, the barley harvest ends and the wheat harvest begins, the change in harvest symbolized by the waving of two wheat loaves by the High Priest in the temple before the Lord.The waving of the two leavened loaves, also, representing those who would be harvested;

both Jew and Gentile – which is why the Torah and the ‘Church’/Ecclesia/Congregation/Called out ones, share the same birthday.

On Shavuot, the holiday celebrating the harvest, the holiday of the first fruits.

Israel marks not just the giving of the Torah by God, (also known as ‘Zman Mattan Torah’, ‘the time of the giving of the Torah’.) but their acceptance of the Torah.

The integration between celebrating the giving of the Torah and our gratitude for the land, between a holiday that is solely connected to “heaven” and one connected to the earth, to the land of Israel. On the one hand, we aspire to reach the highest place, to receive the Torah, and on the other hand, we are connecting to what is under our feet, to the land and its crops to understand that building the Israelite homeland is a process that starts with the earth and continues on up to heaven. Nothing in scripture stands alone everything is interconnected and when we see how, it becomes clear and all begins to make sense.

One way the holiday is observed is through the reading of the Book of Ruth, the story of a woman who converts to Judaism and accepts the Torah. It is appropriate to read the Book of Ruth on Shavuot for several reasons:

First, because it gives us a picture of how the poor were treated in the harvest season with sympathy and love.

Secondly, because in the Book of Ruth we are shown the origin of the House of David — King David was the great-grandson of Ruth and Boaz. And it recounts the story of the Gentile woman (Ruth) who becomes the bride of the Hebrew Boaz, the kinsman redeemer.

Their union produced the most famous of all Israel’s kings, King David. Who incidentally, was born on this very same date (Shavuot) and amazingly Shavuot is also the yahrzeit (anniversary of the death) of King David.

In the Book of Ruth, it is written that when Ruth wanted to stay with Naomi she said, “Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay.Your people will be my people and your God my God.”  Ruth first committed herself to another human being, to Naomi, and afterwards to her people and then to her God.It is well accepted that Ruth, the foreigner represents the largely gentile church redeemed by Messiah Yeshua/Jesus, the Lord of the harvest, as represented by Boaz, who functioned as her kinsman redeemer. It’s interesting that Boaz instructs her to stay through out the barley and the wheat harvest.  For as we have noted in Jewish tradition, the counting of the Omer is said to be a time of preparation for receiving the Torah. The Exodus was looked on as a gift, while the giving of the Torah required some spiritual preparation or readiness. This presents an interesting picture.  Do the fifty days between the First fruits resurrection of Messiah Yeshua/Jesus and the receiving of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost constitute a period of ‘readiness’ for the congregation of believers, Body of Yesuhua, (church), as well? The book of Ruth is replete with symbolism regarding the gentile bride and her kinsmen redeemer.

“So Boaz, said to Ruth, “My daughter listen to me.  Don’t go and glean in another field and don’t go away from here …So, Ruth stayed close to the servant girls of Boaz to glean until the barley and the wheat harvest were finished.” Ruth 2:8,23

If Messiah Yeshua/Jesus returns for His bride before the 50th day, she would qualify as a first fruits bride (barley); a bride who has made her self ready.  While those who are not ready would still be here after the 50th day and become part of the wheat harvest – foreshadowed, possibly by Ruth who gleaned throughout the barley and the wheat harvests? A connection to the parable of the 10 virgins and the condition of their spiritual preparedness?

Also indicated in the instructions Messiah Yeshua/Jesus gave His disciples before He ascended into heaven –

“Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift My Father has promised ” Acts 1:4

Is this why He met them on the Emmaus Road? To make sure they were where they were supposed to be?And meeting with them, He commanded them not to leave Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, “But you shall receive power when the Set-apart Spirit has come upon you, and you shall be My witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judah and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” Acts 1:4,8Messiah Yeshua/Jesus told His disciples to wait in Jerusalem until the promise of receiving the power of the Set-apart Spirit came upon them; because, ONLY when this happened could they begin to spread the message of the Good News!

Why did they have to wait in Jerusalem?First, we are instructed by YHVH that Shavuot is a feast celebrated in Jerusalem – Messiah Yeshua/Jesus was instructing His disciples to keep Torah.Second, judgment – and blessing – are first for the house of Israel and then for the surrounding nations. Likewise, the Good News began in Jerusalem and was sent out from there. This is also one of the reasons that Messiah’s disciples and so many other crowds of people, were still together in Jerusalem. For most the trip back home, only to return it again 50 days later, would have been too arduous, (most walked), so they stayed their through the counting of the Omer.  Briefly noted above,

the love story between Boaz and Ruth

that took place during Shavuot. But there is another love story

that takes place during the

season of Shavuot.

A love story 5,000 years in the making.

The story of a King who is scorned by His beloved bride and vows to redeem her to Himself. The story of a King’s waiting that transcends time…a price He willingly pays in order to reclaim His precious bride.

Over a thousand years after the giving of the law, when the first covenant was given on Mount Sinai,

the renewed covenantobtained through Messiah Yeshua’s /Jesus’ death and resurrection…was energized and quickened by the Spirit of God on the Hebrew feast of Shavuot. It became known as the feast of the 50th day or pentecoste because the rabbis of the Greek world had to give a Greek name to the Hebrew holy day. One of the major elements of the Good News is redemption and restoration, another parallel.

We learned from the story of Ruth and Boaz that the season of Shavuot is a season of redemption and restoration. To further this point, we learn that in Jerusalem 3,000 people were added to the assembly of believers.

Why is this 3,000 number important?

At Mt. Sinai, there were 3,000 missing from the House of Israel who should have received the Torah and didn’t because of the sin of the golden calf. And Moses saw that the people were let loose, for Aaron had let them loose, to their shame among their enemies. And Moses stood in the entrance of the camp, and said,

“Who is for YHVH? Come to me.” And all the sons of Levi gathered themselves to him. And he said to them, “Thus said YHVH Elohim of Israel: ‘Each one put his sword on his side, pass over to and fro from gate to gate in the camp, and each one slay his brother, and each one his friend, and each one his relative.’ ” And the sons of Levi did according to the word of Moses. And about three thousand men of the people fell that day.” Exodus 32:25-

Once the people of Israel were redeemed, they could then offer their first-fruits to YHVH. At Mt. Sinai we see this redemption take place by the marriage covenant that was established.

In comparing the exchange to a marriage or other sacred covenant. Hebrew scholars have shown that it’s Not simply the giving of Torah and giving of the Holy Spirit, but a covenant of marriage between Adonai and His beloved Israel.

The form of marriage covenant agreement is called a Ketubah;the Torah (10 commandments) were part of the ketubah/written agreement, hence the scripture

In Jerusalem thousands of years later, we see this by the ingathering of the lost sheep of Israel; the ingathering of exiled Israel from the nations.

The Spirit of God was given to the believers on the same day that the law of God was given to Israel. The old or first covenant and the re-newed covenant are joined together both being initiated on the same day.

The correlation here is that when the Law was given to Moses, judgment followed, people perished and according to the Scriptures it was about 3000.

However the amazing thing is that on the second sealing of the covenant with His people, when His spirit was given, there was salvation and eternal life for the number of those who came to new life was about 3000. Acts 2:41;

(Israel, His Beloved became His ‘wife’ אִשָּׁה Ishah, pronounced Ee-sha)

Then there’s the more complimentary, dignified word – רַעְיָה Rayayah.

3000 died

and centuries later

3000 came to life

on the exact same Holy Appointed Day of the Lord.

In 2 Corinthians 3:4 -6. Paul wrote, the letter kills but the Spirit gives life. The spirit was given on the same day as the commandments were given.

This was because the Law (\commandments\ directions for living Life before the Lord;) can tell us the will of God.

However only the Spirit can give us the power to live it.

If we live by the Spirit of God we will fulfill the will of God for our lives in the same precise way that the coming of the Spirit on Pentecost fulfilled the Law of the Covenant. The outpouring of the fire of the Holy Spirit was to empower and enable His disciples then and now. Effectively, to fulfill the plan and purpose of His will in the Earth.

The manifestation of the fire was in direct correlation to the pillar of fire that was with them in the wilderness. It was His manifest presence with them along with the pillar of cloud during the day.

Elohay Ha Elohim Our God is a consuming fire.

Conclusion to follow soon = marriage made in heaven…
