What is your name?

שלך השם מה

My name

in Hebrew is

 שְׁמִי‎.

shem mem yod

Shmy pronounced sh-mi.

But

this does not say

who you are

just what you are called by others.

Have you ever asked yourself the ?

Who am I?

Who are you?

mi atah?    מי אתה

?

Who are you Lord?

האדם שאתה, אדוני

haadam sheatah, adonay?

The Scriptures tell us that we are made in the image and likeness of our Heavenly Father.

Yeshua/Jesus being the perfect example.

He had one physical parent, the one with the womb,

the wombman in which Jeremiah says He formed us.

Jeremiah 1:5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I set you apart …

The image and likeness is the important issue.

This is the spiritual side of who we are and the most important part.

There are some in the bible who were more aware of who they were than others.

In 2 Sam 7:18, David asked the Lord

Who am I?

He asked in 1 Chron. 17:16: when King David went in and sat before the LORD; and he said: Who am I, O LORD God? And what is my house, that You have brought me this far?

The scripture says that David was a man after Gods’ own heart but this was not due to his bad decisions and list of sins; but because he repented …Even with his close relationship to the Father he still asked the question

Who am I?

We see that this question was also asked by others in the scriptures: In Esther 7:5; Isaiah 51:12; Ruth 3:9; Ex.3:11; 1Sam.18:18, 25:10; 2Sam. 1:8, 7:18; 1Chron. 17:16, 29:14; 2Chron.2:6; Deut. 18:17-19; Acts 9:5, 19:15.

In Matt. 16:15 Messiah asked, who do you say that I am?

& in Mark 8:27 Jesus and his disciples left Galilee and went up to the villages near Caesarea Philippi. As they were walking along, he asked them, Who do people say I am?

Peter answered by the Spirit of Holiness bearing witness..

In Luke 4:34 the demons knew Who Yesua/Jesus was!

Who are you really?

What identity do you identify with the most?

He knew us in the womb Jeremiah 1:5 before we were born and named by our physical parents.

All mammals go through the same process to bring forth after their kind, so what makes us different?

Is it because we have a birth certificate and a social security number?

Is it because we have a Drivers License when we reach a certain age; or because we have all manner of certificates and diplomas with our name on?

John the Baptist knew who he was … or did he?

John declared he was a voice crying in the wilderness to make straight the paths of the Lord.

A preparer of the way.

Jesus/Yeshua knew who His cousin John was and said of him..

Matthew 11:14 And if you are willing to accept it, he is the Elijah who was to come.

are willing to accept it, he is the Elijah who was come. And if you are willing to accept what I say  he is Elijah, the one the prophets said would come.

If you are willing to accept it he is Elijah!!! John denied it maybe he was not aware he carried the spirit of Elijah! This was in fulfillment of the prophesy that I will send Elijah before the great and terrible day of the Lord. So that also gives us a marker in Gods’ timeline! It also gives us an insight into the little understood complexities and mysteries of the inner workings of the unseen spiritual realms. His ways are most certainly higher than our ways!

Yeshua/Jesus knew who He was and it’s probably safe to say that Elijah and the old testament prophets knew who they were too.

But Who Are You?

Have we ever asked ourselves or considered

who we really are?

This question is not referring to our physical, earthly identity in this world; for we are not of this world.

John 18:36 Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence.

John 8:23 . And he said unto them, Ye are from beneath; I But he continued, “You are from below; I am  of this world; I am not of this world. Jesus

John 15:19 If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.

Spirit cannot die,

this is the likeness and image of God,

Who is our Father, the God of all spirits.

Let the LORD, the God of the spirits of all flesh, set a man over the congregation, Num. 27:16

God is the Father of all “the spirits,” whether in the flesh or not; all are of Divine parentage, for God himself is Spirit – Πνεῦμα ὁ Θεός. John 4:24

Hebrews 12:9 Furthermore, we have all had earthly fathers who disciplined us, and we respected them. Should we not much more submit to the Father of our spirits and live?

Every physical body decays, from the moment of birth, the cycle of life is on a downward spiral. This is bad news…

BUT the GOOD news is we are NOT our bodies,

we are spirit, the spirit that inhabits this physical body. Some say soul and define it as mind, will, emotions; this comes from a Greek mind set. Soul and spirit in Hebrew is the same: breath, wind, spirit nefesh/Ruach or consciousness. That which survives death of the body.

We need to get it sealed in our understanding….the physical flesh body will wear out one day or we will simply leave it behind as the real us, our spirit & soul, goes to our Father.

we don’t die…

we are eternal

and will exist eternally as a spirit or in spirit form in one of 2 locations/realms/dimensions, as scripture indicates.

Could it be that the reason Yeshua /Jesus was able to give little to no importance to this life and everything that physical existence means and requires, is that He knew Who He was? He was the Son of God and the Son of man. He came to bring many sons to glory.

For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings. Heb. 2:10.

Note: when men sons or brethren is used it includes daughters/women/sisters; children would be a better word to include both physical body-type-vessels. There is no male/female in the spirit; why do we still struggle over such basic issues?

Gal. 3:27 For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. 28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for youare all one in Christ Jesus. 29 And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed and heirs according to the promise.

If we are truly born from above by His Ruach Ha Kodesh /His Spirit of Holiness, having our spirit that was dead to our Heavenly Father made alive to Him once again! Then our true identity is there to be revealed. We are children of God also, yet we existed before creation according to Genesis.

Spirit cannot not exist,

so where were we before Gen. 1:2,

and who were we?

What did we do?

Were we spiritual seed in the spiritual loins of Our Heavenly Father of lights, waiting within Him to be birthed into a flesh body/human being?

We are an eternal being, a spirit, our bodies are the containers we dwell in, with 5 physical senses to enable us to interact in this earthly realm by utilizing and instructing our flesh brain. If we existed prior to being physically born, why do we not remember? Did we have our memories wiped?

We are here to find out who we are in Him and to

choose the Father…

which father we will serve?..

and also to complete the task we were sent here to do.

To be a good and faithful servant.

Our brains, where our memories are stored, is flesh and will not survive the demise of the body, we will not take our brain with us. Could the transition be more like the awakening from a dream/sleep and it quickly fades into a distant thought that  we can’t quite get ahold of again?

Who are you?

What makes you, you?

Psychologists like to talk about our traits, or defined characteristics that make us who we are; this is more based on the carnal, fleshly sense-based personality.

He did not come to save our flesh.. No flesh will be present in heaven. God can’t look upon us without the Blood of Messiah Yeshua/Jesus covering us, because our flesh is corruption and filthy in His sight.

Gal. 5:19 &

2 Corinthians 7:1  Therefore, beloved, since we have these promises, let us cleanse ourselves from …

, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness , we should cleanse ourselves from every defilement of fleshand spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear

2 Peter 2:10 Such punishment is specially reserved for those who indulge the corrupt desires of …

him and don’t think of anything except their own filthy desires. They are reckless and proud and of those who follow the corrupt desire of the flesh and despise authority.

We do not know what we will become but we know that we shall be like Him. Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.

1 John 3:2

We are spirit.

We came from the One True God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob/Israel; and we will return to Him …

We are created in His image and likeness meaning;

we are spirit as He is spirit, and beings of light as He is.

He said in Matt.22:30 we will be as the angels in heaven.

So what is your real identity?

It’s not the one your parents gave you, we are not our name, nor are we the one we have become of our own making; by copying others and fashioning ourselves after others standards and lifestyles.

We have nothing that is original except sin nature! Everything we have and want and do, is from a source outside ourselves. Our manner of dress, place of residence, the car we drive, the way we communicate, none of it had it’s origins in us.

We are all copy cats! We emulate first our parents, then our siblings, then family, friends, coworkers, etc etc…in speech, actions, traits, etc. and all are dependent on which country we are born into and the influence of the culture we are exposed to. This is why we are to renew our minds with the Word of God. That is reality, not this world and its systems… we have to change our ‘worldview’ to one that views everything out from the eyes of the spirit, from Heavens perspective.

He came to save the soul, NOT our flesh and

He came to make and give The WAY for our spirits to be reborn from above to everlasting life, so we would not remain in death because we were all born in sin and its’ wages are death.

We always assume that is referring to physical death but it’s not… it’s spiritual death, which is the literal separation from God, our Heavenly Father for ever – for eternity!!

Is a physical life here worth more than that?

Is our own way/plan/lifestyle worth more than that?

Are our own plans and what we want to do here and now, worth more to us than this??

Matt. 25:34

prepared for us from the foundation of the world our inheritance….

so He knew us then before we were a physical being.

Think on this… Our physical parents, and this includes those who are parents themselves, our parents bodies were made to be used to create the physical container for our spirits/souls. Is this why Yeshua/Jesus said he Had come to separate within families because this natural family is a flesh relationship? We are not His family unless all are born from above..and because of that, separations will take place.

Matt.10:34 Do not assume that I have come to bring peace to the earth; I have not come to bring peace, but a sword.35 For I have come to turn ‘a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.…

In John 3:3, the term “born again”

in the Greek is

gennao anothen

which in straight English means

“born from above.”

It does not actually translate into

“born again”

but

“born from above”

meaning born of God,

spiritually reborn from heaven.

Flesh is flesh and spirit is spirit, He said to Nicodemus

and they (Parents) become one flesh at marriage

not one spirit.

The spirit does not come from the parents but from God and ultimately returns to Him.

When we leave this body

Dust to dust, flesh goes back to the earth.

Viewed in this way we do not ‘belong’ to our parents, we are not their ‘property’.

Look at it like this, we are simply ‘on loan’ to them from the Lord. He placed us where He did for His purposes. He knit us in the womb of His choosing preparing the vessel to carry us – the spirit/soul, to do His will. Made for His purpose. They are, and we as parents likewise, are to help all individuals grow up in the will plan purpose and admonition of the Lord.

Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. Prov. 22:6

They are to help us grow and fulfill our call in Him, not our personal fantasies, dreams and goals. Nor should they cling to us, or us to them. As Yeshua/Jesus said,

I must be about My Fathers business.

Our cultural heritage stifles and suffocates Gods will for us. We are here for His purposes not our own, we have it back to front when we ask, ‘What do you want to be when you grow up?’ saying, ‘You can be anything you want to be’ …NO, not according to scripture! …

Whose are you and whom do you serve?

If you are not Gods’ child and don’t want to become one, then you can do what you want…So Who are you?

If we say to this mountain be removed…do we believe that?

And if it were not true why did He say it?

Who are you really?

It’s time to think and realize

we are not our body,

we are not our earthly identity

this body is the temporary dwelling place

for our spirit,

the real you,

the body is just the wrapper!

You are spirit and light,

the body cannot function without us inside it.

We really need to re-assess our innermost desires; if it’s based on what the world says is abundant life, then we are deceived and working for the wrong goals.

This life will end, this body is dying, we were born into decay, it has no future but the grave. BUT our soul/spirit will live on;

for the true believer it’s unto eternal life;

for the unbeliever it’s eternal separation

from our Heavenly Father.

In a way saying we die is a misnomer,

we don’t die because

we cant die;

spirit is spirit and has no capacity to die,

it’s another state of being.

Romans 14:8 “For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord’s.

Often we are so out of touch with our spirit that we focus on the flesh body and its needs instead. The soul has the emotions and the senses to help our spirit operate this vessel/this body. If we cannot get ahold of this reality, our bodies will dictate to us its’ desires and dreams of a reality in this world and that is what will dominate our lives. Then our walk with Him becomes a big struggle.

Through our 5 physical senses we see here what we want because we see what others have and we want it too. It is coveting; it’s desiring the things to make one wise and to make one look good.

It’s the same tricks and temptations which started a very long time ago in a garden… lust of the eyes, lust of the flesh and the pride of life; wanting others to see that you have made it, that you are somebody, that you are wealthy, etc etc…. This is of our own efforts not glorifying the Father.

Paul said it

oh lord deliver us from ourselves from this flesh that wants and needs and causes us to stumble yet James says we sin when we are drawn away by our own lusts.

We must choose daily to die to this flesh, it’s not a one time event. Crucify the flesh, kill it, deny it, it will lead us only to the broad way.

The longer we walk with the Lord the more He will require us to tighten up our walk and to cut off the sins that so easily beset us; to lay down the things that take our time away from His presence.

To deliver ourselves from the snare of the fowler.

Any life without God as the focus, the goal and the fulfilling of His will and plan and purpose, is off course.

It’s not a message that many want to hear, but if we read what He told us to do, how many of our lives really conform to the instructions He gave us?

Father help us to wake up and stop living for ourselves and or close family. We are just building our own kingdoms and not His.

This life is a one time opportunity to get it right; we don’t get a replay like a game.

Yeshua/Jesus warned us, few there are that find the gate, few there are that enter in. Matt.7:14.

The Good News is, if you are reading this, there is still time to change..

It is the cares of this life, the deceitfulness of riches, financial gain and possessions that are the snares and temptations that we fall into.

That’s why Yeshua/Jesus told the rich young ruler to give it all away; the riches had him, he loved them more than Yeshua/Jesus and the Father.

If we seek first the kingdom, He promises He will add all that we need.

We try to add them ourselves using the worlds system to do it. This is not Gods 1st choice way…

Who are we?

You are not your flesh body…

This is a truth we must get hold of because it will change the way we think and see ourselves and everything around us. It will help us to function from our spirit and live by the gifts of His Spirit. We will leave this body behind when we are called home. Our spirit goes to its’ maker and the body does not survive without us in residence.

So death is NOT to be feared,

it’s simply a transition

from

this earthly realm to the heavenly realm.

We introduce ourselves by name and occupation. We identify with the name given by parents/guardians, or one we choose for ourselves by changing birth name on our certificates to another. We cannot alter the original but it still is not who we are.

We take on the identity from the family that we are raised among, adopting their ways and habits emulating their lifestyles.

It’s all we know.

All we are exposed to and we copy them.

For now we see through a glass, darkly;

but then face to face:

now I know in part;

but then shallI know even as also I am known.

1Cor. 13:12.

If we do have some memory of an existence before our spirit /soul was inserted into the physical body, by the time we can speak we’ve forgotten. We are told how to behave, how to live by those around us. Then we are educated by a worldly education system; we have no clue if what we are taught is true or not, we just accept it and much of what we are told of our history is only partially true, with many changes and omissions to the whole truth.

We think we are who we see in the mirror and the world molds us by its’ standards which are in Direct Opposite Reverse to the Way of the Father whose DOR, Dalet is Jesus/Yeshua.

This is the only way we will find our true selves and why we must renew our minds with His Word. His Word tells us we are eternal spirit and soul which cannot die so we have been around for much longer than we think.

We are His own, given to Yeshua/Jesus by His and our Father.

We have to get our eyes opened to really see this life is vanity, worthless, pointless, that only what we do for the kingdom of the heavens will have lasting value, however noble and good it may appear.

Treasures in Heaven again,

you are not your body

you are not the identity you project,

you are not your career your status and the old man is dead.

For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.

Col.3:3.

We are consumed with this life and it quenches His spirit within, choking the lifes/chaim from us; Mark 4, and does not bear fruit to maturity.

The world and all its’ pleasures are not rooted in the Word of God. They belong to the prince of this world which is why he could offer them to Yeshua/Jesus.

He rejected them so should we…they are seducing, deceiving temptations, aimed at the flesh and its carnal desires. We must see them for what they are…We need to stop being a part of it and come out from among them and be separate.

His called apart ones.

What the world offers us is temporary and will pass away without lasting fruit to our credit. Whatever we love, we pay attention to and give our time to. Our time is the one thing we can direct and have control over, how do we spend it? What are we consumed with? What are we devoting our life to accomplish, and for what end?

Matt 10:34-42 whatever/whoever we love more than the Father and Jesus/Yeshua; whatever, whoever we place in the position of 1st place and importance is NOT worthy – deemed entirely deserving- of Him. V 38

Family, this is serious, very serious.

Spiritually speaking, our identity is Not with our physical family. Matt 10:36, members of household, Micah 7:6, our children are not ours, we are merely stewards until they can function without assistance. Train up a child in the way he should go, Even when he is old he will not depart from it. Prov.22:6

We are all brothers and sisters in the kingdom of God our heavenly Father. You are a spirit and so is everyone else. No family relationship in the spirit is like the world expresses it; we are all equal in the family of God.

48 But Jesus replied, “Who is My mother, and who are My brothers?” 49 Pointing to His disciples, He said, “Here are My mother and My brothers. 50 For whoever does the will of My Father… Matt.12:49.

We must begin and continue, to stop focusing on the things of the natural. Our bodies are simply containers for us to function through on the earth. Until we get it settled within us, we will be pulled down by its’ physical demands, feelings and 5 senses, and all the physical pain and problems.

You are not your body

and you have rule over it.

This is a liberating message if we want to receive it.

He came to set us free

Gal.5:1

don’t go back into bondage.

When God delivers us out of bondage, our eyes must be fixed on Him and Him alone. We must be determined not to look back or go back to the place that God has condemned.

Every person working for another, by way of a company etc., is in reality a slave to that job.

The rich rule over the poor,

and the borrower is a slave to the lender.

Prov. 22:7.

Anyone who has debt, is in bondage to that debt.

The system has been set up to keep us in that bondage. Usually its incurred for things we want or think we need… houses, cars, etc., etc., etc. Things will keep us trapped, living a simple life with less is the life with less bondage; because the things we take on trap us into having to keep serving another who is not the Lord.

The world and everything in its systems belong to the prince of this world and we are to come out from among them and be separate.

Beloved family let’s put our trust in Him now, don’t wait until we are desperate but starting now, believe Him to supply our needs. Believe for that meal without a wage, without a handout from the government.

Can we do it?

Let’s begin to believe for our healing in the Name of Yeshua/Jesus of Nazareth instead of first going to the Dr. There is not one scripture where Yeshua/Jesus said go to a Dr. Go see a physician because I can’t heal you.

Or go to a psychiatrist I don’t know what’s wrong with you it’s a psychosis…

no …He cast out unclean sprits and demons that were causing sickness and disease. Those in the medical profession are a huge blessing for us and we are beyond grateful for their ministry and expertise…but what would we do if there is no Dr. or Nurse around??

What and who are we making our first choice?

Our jobs own us, we are slaves to our bosses, we do what they tell us because we want the money in the wages we get, to finance our dream and fulfill our goal…. How have we got so off track as far as what Messiah said to do??

Go into all the world and preach the good news of the gospel of the kingdom heal the sick raise the dead cast out demons the kingdom of god is within us so we carry it wherever we go. Lay hands on the sick they shall recover.

Who was this said to???

Everyone – whosoever will hear and do.

The call has gone out but only a very few answer it.

We choose our own way, our own path, our own life … it does not change the call that came to us; it’s just we didn’t have ears to hear like so many when Yeshua/Jesus first spoke it.

This is a serious message and no doubt many will be offended and raise up, voicing excuses that we say are valid reasons for why we are doing what we are doing.

The truth is… the truth of us… is where we are right now.

Today, this moment….if it were our last… are we ready to meet our Lord?

We are only promised today; yesterday is gone for ever, and tomorrow may never come for us … have we done what we should have? It’s a message designed by our Father to stir us up… and how we respond, will determine the WAY we take from this moment forward.

Many will wish they never read it, because now there’s a choice to make and some don’t want to.. but we have read it and Father knows it so…

I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore

choose life, (chaim/hayyim)

that both you and your descendants may live; Deut. 30:19

So choose
וּבָֽחַרְתָּ֙ (ū·ḇā·ḥar·tā)

life,
בַּֽחַיִּ֔ים (ba·ḥay·yîm)

there are only 2 ways

everlasting life in the Fathers presence and

everlasting death without Him……

be one of the few that enter in to His glorious kingdom.

What is there, or who is there, on this earth that is more important???

Whatever it is, it’s an idol before the Lord. It’s another god, the thing we give our worship to, it’s instead of, before and in front of the Lord.

Even when we say we love Jesus/Yeshua, our actions, our fruit and priorities tell a different story. We can fool people but we can’t fool Our Father. We can even fool ourselves, saying, oh God understands.. He’s a God of love He doesn’t want me to do this, or that, He wants me to do what I’m doing and be happy.

Yes it’s a hard saying, so were those messages which Yeshua/Jesus said, both to the crowds and to His disciples.

Well we say, that was then and not everyone is a disciple or is supposed to go …go where you are! Your mission field is as close as your breath…we must stop compromising with the world, with trends, with fashion, technology, and entertainment. We are not here to have fun and enjoy life, we are sent here by our Father to fulfill His will to do what He asks of us ….

Lord Jesus /Messiah Yeshua, help us see

who we really are

open our eyes – hippatach –

reveal to us

who we are in YOU.

Our natural, earthly family here, may not be our forever family if they are not walking with the Lord; and if unsaved, neither are our siblings, parents and children. As for those who are His, we will see them as they truly are one day, our true spiritual siblings, we only see them as in earthly relationships for this earth experience. In Christ/Messiah, our parents, children, grandparents, etc., are all our equal siblings. Our brains and memories will die with the rest of the physical body we don’t take those with us.

This world and everything in it, is NOT reality; it’s a construct within the earths framework, constrained by a thing we call time. Time does not exist outside of this realm and when we transcend/ascend, or however we want to name it; this life will be as a moment, something like a dream we had and can hardly remember. We came from Him and will return to Him for a future we can barely imagine. Yes there is beauty here but it’s temporary, transitory; we are passing through and where we are going is wonderful beyond our words to describe.

Our foundation is in Yeshua/Jesus, not here, so let’s stop building our Eden, our paradise on earth because according to scripture, it’s about to be burned up. Build up your treasures in heaven where they will not be destroyed. The disciples got it, they understood and not loving their lives unto death, they ran their race and completed their course. Can we say with Paul that we have too!????

Who are we??

We are spirit, we are eternal, we will never die, so we can cease being afraid of death… for the believer it doesn’t exist its just a change in the realm of existence.

This age is at its’ close, Yeshua/Jesus is coming back. Revelations prophetic pictures will come to pass; God will judge this world and everything written will happen just as He said it will…are we ready?

Are we prepared for those things in Revelation?

Are we able to stand in that day?

Will we be counted worthy, deemed entirely deserving, to escape those things coming upon the earth and to stand before the Son of man? Or are we loving our lives too much? Are we seeking to save our lives, or are we looking unto Yeshua/Jesus the author and finisher of our faith. And will He find that faith demonstrated in us when He returns?

Know that you are loved enough for truth to be told to you and this writer makes no apologies for declaring the Truth of His Word. Wouldn’t we rather hear the truth and not an ear tickling, feel good message that does not set us free? He loves us and will not lose one that has been given Him by His Father.

However, those the Father has given me will come to me, and I will never reject them. For I have come down from heaven to do the will of God who sent me, not to do my own will. And this is the will of God, that I should not lose even one of all those he has given me, but that I should raise them up at the last day. John 6:37-39

He is calling us close to Himself..

Today, if you hear His voice,

do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.

Heb.3:15.

Gird up your loins family,

get ready,

be prepared and stay alert,

because you do not know

the hour that your Lord is coming!

SAY THE FOLLOWING FROM YOUR HEART RIGHT NOW…

Heavenly Father I come to you in the Name of Jesus/Yeshua asking for forgiveness of my sins for which I am truly sorry. I repent of them all and turn away from my past.

I believe with my heart and confess with my mouth that Jesus/Yeshua is your Son and that He died on the cross at calvary to pay the price for my sin, so that I might be forgiven and have eternal life in the kingdom of Heaven. Father I believe that Jesus/Yeshua rose from the dead and I ask you to come into my life right now and be my personal Savior and Lord and I will worship you all the days of my life. What Is The Connection Between Blood, Gold and The Mystery of Beth Shemesh – Part 2

We looked at the Blood in last weeks post and surely it is the keystone of a triumphant life in Messiah. Lack of understanding of the power in Jesus/Yeshuas Blood can impede our complete and sustained victory as we follow Him.

To remind ourselves and to help seal the revealed knowledge into our hearts:

His Blood has the following properties:

Redeeming. Revelation 5:9 Ephesians 1:7 Colossians 1:14

Justifying. Romans 5:9

Remitting. Hebrews 9:22

Forgiving. Ephesians 1:7 Colossians 1:14

Washing and freeing. Revelation 1:5

Purging. Hebrews 9:14

Cleansing. 1 John 1:7

Sanctifying. Hebrews 13:12

Reconciling. Ephesians 2:13

Blotting. Colossians 2:14

Triumphing. Colossians 2:15

Overcoming. Revelation 12:11

The effects are numerous because

through the Blood of Jesus/Yeshua, we have:

Forgiveness

Reconciliation

Cleansing

Sanctification

Union with our Heavenly Father

Victory over satan

Life everlasting.

We are probably very familiar with the term the Scarlet Thread or the line of the blood because throughout the Bible from Genesis to Revelation runs a broken continuous scarlet red stream of blood from an atoning sacrifice.

Beginning in Genesis 3:21 through the sacrifices including those of Noah and Abraham recorded in Exodus, Leviticus and the whole Old Testament/Tanakh system, until it bursts forth in the supreme sacrifice of Messiah at Calvary.

It runs on, in an ever increasing and widening course through the generations; and will flow on through the countless ages of eternity.

Unto Him Who loved us and

washed us from our sins

in His own blood

Salvation must be of the Lord. John 3:16

and must be by

the death of an innocent substitute

1 Peter 2:22,24

It must be by blood. 1 Peter 1:18 – 20

Every acceptable sacrifice

must meet these three conditions

as taught in Genesis 3:21.

Abels sacrifice did meet the conditions

but Cains did not.

Abel brought an innocent lamb as a substitute in his place

and he was justified before God in

its sacrificial death and the shedding of its blood.

Having laid the foundation we move on to the connection… and

What follows is a seldom preached incident concerning the necessity of the blood. The reason why the Lord must demand blood for the atonement of sin lies in the nature of God and in the nature of sin.

God is perfectly and unimpeachably Holy, because of this truth, sin can never be passed over without the justice of God being satisfied; and because sin is rebellion against an infinite God, there is none higher. Therefore, only the greatest and the highest price can be accepted as an atonement for sin.

That price is

Life/chaim itself;

and we have agreed that scripturally,

the life is in the blood.

Again, every sacrifice that is acceptable to God

must meet these 3 conditions.

It must not be man’s work but Gods.

On Mount Sinai,

God gave to Israel the law/10 sayings/commandments which comprised directions and instructions for life/living and how to approach Him.

which was

Holy,

Perfect

and

Just.

Disobedience to this law demanded the greatest penalty in payment. It was for this reason that God gave the instructions for the ark of the covenant to be in the Tabernacle, right in the Holy of Holies.

Recall from previous posts, what the box/ark was and the specific items it contained.

It was COVERED with beaten GOLD

Inside were the tablets with the ten sayings/ law written on them. These had been broken by Israel when Moses was up the mountain.

The broken Law demanded the eternal damnation of Israel; but God had made a provision and had planned the

Mercy Seat of beaten GOLD to COVER this broken law.

He required that once a year, on the

day of Atonement/Yom Kippur,

the High Priest took the blood of the animal sacrifice,

which was God’s provision,

from the altar of burnt offerings and

sprinkled it on the Mercy Seat/The kapporet.

Here we have BLOOD placed upon GOLD…

Recall it is compared to the throne of grace; because the Holy of Holies is called the place of the mercy-seat, the mercy seat is a place where people come to be in God’s presence.

The term mercy seat comes from the Hebrew word kapporeth, which means a covering. In the Old Testament it refers to the covering or lid of the Ark of the Covenant, where the children of Israel kept the Ten Commandments. The Ark’s covering was made of acacia wood, overlaid with gold, or perhaps a plate of solid gold, 2 1/2 cubits long and 1 1/2 broad (Ex. 25:17; 30:6; 31:7).

Ephesians 2:6 compares the place of mercy with the throne of grace, the place where God sits upon His throne. Hebrews 9:5 associates the covering of the altar with the cherubim, creatures that represent God’s glory and presence. See previous posts.

The Holy of Holies is called the

place of the mercy-seat in 1 Chronicles. 28:11: Lev. 16:2.

This is significant, because in Jewish culture only the High Priest was permitted to enter the Holy of Holies, the place of God’s presence. Because of Yeshua haMashiach/Jesus Christ’s self-sacrifice, specifically His shed Blood, today because of and through His blood, anyone can come to the mercy seat to be in God’s presence.

In many churches people seek the Father at a specific time and place, where God could be found. We know that there is nothing special about the place itself. And we would be limiting God to our way of thinking. He is right where we are because as born again/born from above by His Spirit of Holiness children; the Kingdom of God is within us – we are the living stones.

The broken law

was then covered

by the blood of a sacrifice onto gold.

God was appeased and atonement was made.

His justice was satisfied and

His mercy could flow out unhindered

to his erring, rebellious children.

Here we must remember that to look upon the

broken law without blood, is to face God’s wrath.

He said when I see the blood I will pass over you.

From Egypt and the 1st Passover Lambs blood…Here we begin to see the connection forming with Yeshua/Jesus as well as the blood connected to the gold on the kapporet as atonement for sin.

To remove the Blood from God’s righteous judgment, is to invite certain death and destruction.

What follows is possibly an area not often mentioned and yet it reveals what seems to be a profound insight and meaning for each and every one of us.

The Mystery of Beth Shemesh

 בֵּית שֶׁמֶשׁ

means, house of the sun

1 the noun בית  beth, house,

and 2 the noun שמש shemesh, sun.

(This could be linked to the play on words of sun/son and the Malachi 4:2 scripture: shall the Sun/shemesh of righteousness arise with healing in his wings.)

Beth Shemesh, was a small town on the border

between Judah and the Philistines;

located approximately 30 kilometres (19 mi)

west of Jerusalem in Israel.

This is the place where the

Ark of the Covenant

came when it was returned by the Philistines. 1 Sam. 6.

Beth Shemesh stands in Israel’s Shephelah-foothills

lying between the coastal plain and Judea Mountains.

In 1 Samuel 6 the Ark of The Covenant had been taken captive by the Philistines. During the time the Ark was in their possession God sent diseases and plagues upon them.

1 Samuel 5:9 the Philistines called for diviners and soothsayers as to the reason of these diseases and plagues. They correctly pointed to the fact that the Ark of the Covenant of Israel was in their midst.

Here is where they devised a very clever plan by deciding that, a pair of young cows who had recently given birth to calves; should be harnessed to a new wagon; upon which the Ark of the Covenant was to be placed. Together with some golden emerods and golden mice and headed in the direction on the land of Israel.

The emerods were a divine punishment on the Philistines when they defeated the Israelites and captured the Ark of the Covenant on the day that Eli and his sons died.

Emerods is an archaic term for hemorrhoids. Derived from the Old French word emoroyde, it was used as the common English term until the nineteenth century, after which it was replaced in medicine by a direct transliteration of the original Greek term haimorrhoides. The word is most commonly encountered, however, in the King James Bible, where it appears in the First Book of Samuel as a plague.

Golden emerods, i.e. figures/likeness of that part of the body which was the seat of the disease, which by its swelling, or some other way, represented also the disease itself; which was not offered in a contempt of God, but because they sought to gain His favor; it was rather as a testimony of their humiliation, and they considered  that by leaving this token of their own shame and misery they might find and obtain pity from God, and freedom from their disease. 1Sam.6:4

They surmised that if the two cows went in a straight line away from their newly birthed young, it would be a indication that the Ark was the cause of the distress.

But if the cows would refused to leave their young calves and turn around, it would indicate that the Ark was not the cause of the plagues.

The result was contrary to nature because the cows did go in a straight line to the land of Israel and came to the city of

Beth Shemesh

which was the city of the Levites/Priests.

The reapers looked up from the field and saw the Ark of the Covenant coming without any human guidance!

For those who love archeology, here is a link to a recent find in the area that may be the stone on which the ark of the covenant rested?!

This peculiar stone, supported by stone “legs,” was discovered inside a temple dating to around 1100 b.c.e. And it may be the very same stone mentioned in the biblical account of the ark of the covenant.

https://watchjerusalem.co.il/852-was-this-where-the-ark-of-the-covenant-sat

Upon the arrival of the Ark of the Covenant in Beth Shemesh there was great rejoicing…

but during the course of the celebration some of the men of Beth Shemesh whether carelessly, unintentionally or accidentally, lifted up the

Gold Mercy Seat/Kapporet,

to see whether the contents of the Ark have been removed or disturbed by the Philistines. More likely moved by curiosity, they removed for a moment

the Bloody Covering off the Ark

and for only a brief moment in time, they looked upon

the broken law of God

without the Blood between them and the sin

and the result was tragic. 1 Samuel 6:19

???

Recall: to look upon the broken law of God

without blood means certain death;

it was NOT just for curiosity!

This is the foundation of His plan of redemption.

But

God cannot look upon our sinful flesh without the

Blood of Yeshua/Jesus

standing/placed in that gap

between Him and us as our

Covering.

The only sacrifice must be by blood.

This was a tragic but vivid demonstration of the seriousness of His plan and the ultimate fulfillment of Messiahs act of submitted obedience. Yeshua/Jesus died physically so His Blood could be our covering on Heavens Kapporet/Mercy Seat of GOLD. We know that His Father could not look upon Him as He bore our sin and for that unspeakable moment He experienced separation from His Father, which amounts to spiritual death. He was broken for us and His Blood still cries Mercy/Forgiveness for us.

Herein is the mystery of the Gospel in Beth Shemesh, the town of the Priesthood. We must never take our redemption through His Blood for granted but walk in humility and love with a grateful heart of thanksgiving. Without the Blood of our Savior on that Golden Kapporet, we have no hope, it is the only thing between us and the broken law, the laws that we have broken and as seen in this episode to look upon the broken law without the blood covering is certain death… the wages of sin is death..BUT the gift of God is eternal life in Jesus/Yeshua.

There is another very mysterious illustration linking

Blood, Gold and Water

in Exodus 32

which also sets forth this truth in a very clear way;

that is, in the atonement which Moses offered

after the people had broken Gods law

by making the GOLDen calf at Mount Sinai.

Moses and Joshua had been on the mountain for 40 days and 40 nights. During their absence Israel had given them up for dead. Possibly out of fear and/or confusion, the people demanded Aaron construct a god to lead them on their way.

The result was the golden calf.

When Moses descended from the Mountain with the tablets of the testimony in his hand, he found that Israel had already

broken the first two of God’s commands

and so they had already

placed themselves under the curse of God.

Moses knew that nothing but a

blood atonement

could avert disaster for the children of Israel.

Here we find a very unique account

of Moses’s sacrifice for Israel sin.

In Exodus 32, he tells the children of Israel that they ought to die for their sin but, that he would bring

an atonement to the Father..

He didn’t know if it would work, but that he was going to try it in order that they may be saved and spared.

Exodus 32:20

He took the calf which they had made and burned it in fire.

Ground it into powder and threw it upon the water and made the children of Israel drink it.

From this verse we see that Moses took the golden idol and

Beat it

Melted it

Ground it into powder

Put it in the water

Made the children of Israel drink it!!

In Deuteronomy 9: 21

there is the same record with more details.

The greater detail is six things are mentioned:

He melted it

He stamped it

He ground it

Then he ground it again

And he put it into the brook/water and

he made the children of Israel drink it

Then he took some of the water out of the brook

and presented it to God

for the blood atonement

for the sins of Israel.

This seems strange.. but we should remember Moses had been raised in the palace and Court of the Egyptian Pharaohs and had been taught a great many things of which he was very knowledgeable. From the Scriptures it appears that Moses had a supernaturally given knowledge of the science of chemistry.

The apparently strange things that he did,

in the melting, grounding and suspension of the Gold

had however, a greater reason and meaning.

The result was a suspension which became

a vivid type of the blood of Jesus/Yeshua.

Chemistry gives three kinds of mixtures as follows.

A mechanical mixture: where if a piece of metallic gold is dropped in water no solution occurs. The gold remains intact in the water. Pure gold will not dissolve in water.

A suspension or emulsion: this is finally divided particles of eight metallic substance that can’t be suspended in water by adding another chemical to it. There is no solution, the finely ground particles are simply suspended in the water this is called an emulsion.

A chemical solution: a spoon full of sugar placed into water will not mix or be suspended; but will result in an increase in weight but not volume. The sugar dissolves and the atoms/ particles take up their place within the water itself.

Gold will not dissolve in water… why?

because it has a specific gravity of 19.5 times heavier.

Bare with the following description as the science reveals an amazing type and shadow of Messiah!

In fine powder,

Gold assumes a colloidal condition

and when added to water,

it results in coloration that it appears to be a solution.

As the particles are made finer, the bulk is greatly increased and acquires an apparent specific gravity, permitting its suspension in water, and giving it/ the liquid

a deep red color.

Scientific records state that,

colloidal gold in water is a rose red color

when the particles are of 10 micron size

in a dilution of 1 to 100,000.

From this we see that

gold in dust size will color water as blood

which means that this

calf of gold

need not have been very big in order

to color sufficient water blood red

to supply drinks to at least two or more million people!

Colloidal gold is a suspension consisting of sub-micron gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) suspended within a solvent, most often water.

Colloidal gold has anti-inflammatory powers to alleviate pain and swelling among those with arthritis and bursitis. It has also shown promise for rejuvenating glandular systems to provide anti-aging, higher IQ, and pineal gland enhancing possibilities!

Colloidal gold can be made in many ways but

the method of Moses is the best

under those circumstances in the wilderness!

Remember the order of what Moses did…

The burning removed the impurities!

The stamping/ beating reduced it to thin sheets because of the special properties in the construct of gold itself.

Gold leaf can be made so thin

that it requires about 280,000 to make 1 inch.

Sheets as thin as 00.000004 inch have been made.

The grinding becomes easy then

and further information shows that Moses

ground it very fine, as fine as dust;

reducing it to the size of colloidal gold.

This was what he threw into the brook

and what made the water blood red.

It was not toxic because the impurities

have been burned out

and it was inhibiting towards germs.

The result was that the waters would be

blood red possessing purifying qualities!

All of this is a fitting type of the

blood of the Messiah.

This blood red solution

was taken by Moses

and presented before the Lord

as an atonement for their sin.

The record of this can be read in Exodus 32:30, 31, 32.

Here he said, peradventure I shall make an atonement for your sin. The Father saw the blood red solution

which was a fit type of the blood of Messiah

and his wrath was averted and

his justice was appeased and

his love again flowed out towards them.

One last thing can be said concerning this Blood; that although Moses made an atonement and it was accepted by God, only those who appropriated it by faith were saved!

The others died… and it is a very strong suggestion made in the Scripture Exodus 32:26-28. True enough, it is not explicitly stated that the 3000 men slain by the swords of the Levites on that day were specifically the ones who

refused to bend down and

drink of the Crimson Brook

coming from the Mountain.

However it is suggested….and those who accepted God’s provision through the destruction of the molten Gold calf were saved.

Those who rejected were lost; and although it is true that Christ died for the sin of the whole world and he tasted death for every man, it still remains the fact that

only those who appropriate His provision by faith will be saved.

2000 years ago

the fountain

was opened from the side of Messiah/Mashiach on the cross.

From this day forward there is a stream flowing into which all who plunge, will receive remission of sins and eternal salvation.

To accept the Blood is to live.

To Reject it is to die.

What have we done with the Blood of the slain lamb? This very day in the Heavenlies, there is a resurrected Messiah Who paid the price for the sin of the world.

He is waiting to give Life, Joy, Victory and Peace

to all who will stoop down,

drink and live.

As the hymn says concerning our victory:

He plunges us to victory beneath the cleansing flow.

Since the life of Yeshua/Jesus is in His Blood..

if we plead, honor, sprinkle and sing about it

we are bringing in the chaim/lifes

and light of God into a situation. .

Darkness and death HAS to flee.

His Life is the Light of men.

The word atonement means a covering

we are protected with this covering which keeps us safe from the enemy. It is why John said in 1 John 5:18, the wicked one touches him not.

But like everything in the Word of God,

there is a condition

and the qualifications for this kind of protection is:

that the believer must keep her/himself.

This means that we must keep ourselves consciously under the blood. This means un-confessed sin is never under the blood… only when it is confessed, repented of, and forsaken are we then covered and protected.

As the world gets darker we need to weapons of our warfare at all times. Never remove your armor of Ephesians 6 and if you haven’t already add the blood of Jesus/Yeshua to your arsenal and use it every day over yourself your families and all our brothers and sisters worldwide.

There is power in the Blood of Yeshua/Jesus

wonder working power…

miracle working power and

most of all… it is the agent of our salvation.

As we come towards Yom Kippur this season,

let’s remember that

the Blood of Yeshua HaMashiach/Jesus Christ

continually cries out for us…

mercy forgiveness cleansing and redemption…

not just on one day of the year

but always and forever.

These are some of the reasons the devil and all demonically rooted entities fear the Blood of Yeshua/Messiah and why we must be covered by it. Stay under the Blood of Messiah Mishpochah at all times and remember…

 What The Word Says

The Blood Of Yeshua/Jesus Does For Us.

We overcome the adversary when we testify/speak out personally to what the Word of God says the Blood of Yesua/Jesus has done for us!

Through the blood of Messiah Jesus/Yeshua HaMashiach,

I am redeemed out of the hand of the adversary, all my sins are forgiven and as I walk in repentance, I am continually being cleansed from all sin.

I am justified and made righteous, sanctified, made holy, set apart to My Heavenly Father…

I have boldness to enter into the presence of My Heavenly Father because the Blood of Yeshua/Jesus cries Mercy/Forgivenesss continually in heaven on my behalf to the Father.

In Israel in the autumn (fall) of the year, we enter into an extremely important season of repentance/teshuvah in the Jewish/Hebrew calendar known as the Fall Feasts.

Rosh Hashanah

Some information regarding Rosh Hashanah greeting

רֹאשׁ הַשָּׁנָה

Rosh Hashana

The Jewish New Year

for Hebrew Year 5782

Rosh Hashanah

Hebrew: ראש השנה,

literally “head of the year”,

is the Jewish Civil New Year. It is also in remembrance of Breresheet/Genesis and the day of earths re-creation, or New birth, which can be likened to our new birth in Messiah Yeshua/Jesus.

It is the first of the High Holidays or

Yamim Noraim

(“Days of Awe”),

celebrated ten days before Yom Kippur.

Rosh Hashanah is observed on the first two days of Tishrei, the seventh month of the Hebrew calendar. It is described in the Torah as יום תרועה (Yom Teru’ah, a day of sounding [the Shofar]).

The New Moon Day of the seventh month is called

‘Yom Teruah’ (יוֹם תְּרוּעָה).

This is oftentimes translated as the

‘Day of Trumpets’,

although it actually translates more like the

‘Day of Blowing,’

or the ‘Day of Shouting.’

Yom Teruah literally means the Day of the Shofar Sound.

It is also called The Feast of Trumpets.

It occurs six cycles of the new moon (i.e. six months) after Pesach on the first day of the seventh month in the Biblical calendar.

It marks the end of a long, hot, and dry summer and the beginning of the fall festivals.

Most importantly Yom Teruah is a day of

shouting and alarm

to remind men that Yom Kippurim is near.

“There are only 10 days left”

for the wicked to repent of their wickedness

and join themselves to True Israel.

Each month throughout the year the reminder,

the warning cry, has been blown;

the seventh month is coming

and soon

it will be too late to repent.

Teshuvah.

Some greetings are:

 “Brachot l’shana tova ve…”

“ברכות לשנה טובה ו….”

“Greetings for a good and…year”.

“Have a happy and sweet new year”

is Shanah tovah u’metuka.

לשנה טובה תכתב.   l-shanah tovah tikatev

May you be written and inscribed for a good year!

Generally, “shana tovah”

or “l’shava tova tikatev”

or “shana m’tuka”

and not the whole greeting and blessing.

There are four forms.

The correct greeting for Rosh Hashanah is

“L’shanah tovah”,

which translates to

“for a good year”.

People may also use a longer phrase, “Shanah Tovah um’tukah”,

Hebrew for “may you have a good and sweet new year.”

Both form parts of the traditional full greeting of

“L’shanah tovah tikatev v’taihatem”

L’Shanah Tovah Tikatevu: The literal Hebrew to English translation is

“May you be inscribed (in the Book of Life) for a good year.”

This traditional Rosh HaShanah greeting

wishes others a good year and is often shorted to

“Shanah Tovah” (Good Year) or “L’Shanah Tovah.”

לְשָׁנָה טוֹבָה. [To a] good year. [leʃaˈna toˈva] Hebrew.

Used as a greeting during Rosh Hashanah and the Days of Awe.

Also used, simply

” shanah tovah ” (שָׁנָה טוֹבָה),

meaning “a good year”,

or

” shanah tovah u’metukah ” (שָׁנָה טוֹבָה וּמְתוּקָה)

meaning “a good and sweet year”.

A more formal greeting commonly used among religiously observant Jews is

Ketivah VaChatimah Tovah

(Hebrew: כְּתִיבָה וַחֲתִימָה טוֹבָה‎), which translates as

“A good inscription and sealing [in the Book of Life]”,

or

L’shanah tovah tikatevu v’tichatemu meaning

“May you be inscribed and sealed for a good year”.

Shanah Tovah means good year, with no context.

In L’Shanah Tovah, the “L” is a Hebrew preposition

that corresponds in this case to the English preposition “for”,

and the context is the greeting

“May you be inscribed for a good year!”

Jerusalem from above.

The Golden Gate through which Messiah is believed to enter

Jerusalem.

Many believe that He may return around the day of blowing of trumpets, or that the catching away of the ecclesia will occur at this season; however Yeshua/Jesus said Himself

Matthew 24:36 But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only.

Yes we can see the day approaching and must be ready but we must remember He will come at an hour that we do not expect Him!

Luke 12:40 Be you therefore ready also: for the Son of man comes at an hour when you think not.

Luke 21:34-36. And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares…. Matthew 24:42,44

Because your word is truth I say that I am now forgiven and born again and by faith I am washed clean with the blood of Jesus/Yeshua. Thank you that you have accepted me into your family in Jesus’/Yeshua’s name. Amen.

R U Salty?

We are no doubt very familiar with

Yeshua/Jesus’ words in the verse

Matthew 5:13

You are the salt of the earth.

Also referenced in the other gospels:

Salt is good, but if it loses its saltiness,

how can you make it salty again?

Mark 9:50

Luke 14:34, 35 Salt is good; but if the salt has lost its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? 35 It is neither fit for the land nor for the [a]dunghill, but men throw it out. He who has ears to hear, let him hear!

All these references are traced back to

Leviticus 2:13 & Numbers 18:19

All the Holy offerings that the Israelites present to the LORD I give to you and to your sons and daughters as a permanent statute. It is a permanent covenant of salt before the LORD for you and your offspring.

In the Scriptures the Creator of the universe made a

Covenant of Salt

with Aarons sons, the children of Israel

and the Davidic Kingdom.

Our Heavenly Father keeps His Covenants and in this ancient ritual of middle-eastern covenant making, we can see how faithful and loyal He is towards us. When we realize how permanent the salt covenant is, this reference is a scriptural answer/rebuttal, to the replacement theology theory because…

It is a covenant of salt

FOREVER

before the Lord unto thee and thy seed with thee.

Covenant of Salt/Salt Covenant

It is symbolic of endurance, preservation,

and freedom from corruption.

This is the WAY of Holiness,

Isaiah 35:8 & 2 Tim. 2:19

This act of eating another’s salt has always been regarded as a token of fidelity friendship.

Sometimes bread and salt are eaten together making a covenant.

There is bread and salt between us we are brothers.

Covenant of Salt.

A Biblical phrase for a two-way agreement, the sacredness of which was symbolized by the salt

A Middle Eastern saying, “There is bread and salt between us,” meant that a relationship had been confirmed by sharing a meal.

Salt symbolized the life and enduring nature of the alliance.

It means “we are now friends.”

In ancient Middle East salt was a rare commodity, and one also shared salt with their friends as a flavor enhancer.

This custom came down from remote antiquity and the covenant can never be forgotten or renounced.

To understand the fullness of the reference, we must go back to the old testament – Tenakh/Tenach, specifically Torah. Where we read about the gifts to the Priesthood/the Kohanim.

Remember everything is connected.

In Bemidbar/Numbers 16:1-18:32 we’ve read that the Levites and the Kohanim would receive no portion of the land in the promised land of Israel; the people were instructed to support them by means of gifts – mattanot.

For reference they are are listed at the end of this section of scripture.

Numbers 16:1-18:32.

gift – matana

מתנה

Strong’s Hebrew: 4503. מִנְחָה (minchah) — a gift, tribute

A gift (the act of giving) is ‘ma•tan,’ very close to the word of the day, ma•ta•na. The first time ma•ta•na, gift, is mentioned in the Bible, is in reference to the Levites that are given as a gift by God to the Israelites:

The Torah lists 24 of these gifts to the priests including the regular portion of crops terumah; offerings,

bikkurim, first fruits;

parts of various sacrificial offerings, and revenue from the redemption of the first born son’s pidyon haben.

Pidyon HaBen – פדיון הבן

Redemption of the (firstborn) son.

The ceremony wherein

the father of

a firstborn male born to Israelite

(non Kohen or Levite)

parents is redeemed from a Kohen –

(a priestly descendent of Aaron) –

in exchange for 5 silver coins, 30 days after his birth.

Our Heavenly Father calls this agreement

pidyon haben, or

“redemption of the firstborn son,”

a covenant of salt.

ברית מלח

Strong’s Hebrew: 4417. מֶ֫לַח (melach) — salt

KJV: of Siddim, which is the salt sea.

Genesis 19:26 HEB: וַתְּהִ֖י נְצִ֥יב מֶֽלַח׃

KJV: and she, (Lots wife), became a pillar of salt.

A covenant of salt.

Specifically, in Leviticus,

God tells Moses that the Israelites are to:

Season all your grain offerings with salt. Do not leave the salt of the covenant of your God out of your grain offerings; add salt to all your offerings. Leviticus 2:13

It’s interesting that God talks about the salt of the covenant. He instructs Moses that all the offerings are to have salt added to them; and then, tells Moses that because they don’t have a land inheritance Aaron and the Levites can have all the offerings except the burnt offerings; explaining that this agreement is

an everlasting covenant of salt:

Whatever is set aside from the holy offerings the Israelites present to the LORD I give to you and your sons and daughters as your perpetual share. It is an everlasting covenant of salt before the LORD for both you and your offspring. Numbers 18:19

All the wave offerings of the holy things, which the children of Israel offer to Yahweh, have I given you, and your sons and your daughters with you, as a portion forever: it is a covenant of salt forever before Yahweh to you and to your seed with you.

The tribe of Levites were promised that they will always have food, that this is an everlasting covenant as long as they do the work necessary in the temple;(conditional). The covenant of salt did not only have to do with meat or grain offerings in the tabernacle (temple). According to scripture the covenant of salt was in effect when there was no offering, at the time when the kingship of Israel was given to David and his progeny forever:

Don’t you know that the LORD, the God of Israel, has given the kingship of Israel to David and his descendants forever by a covenant of salt? 2 Chronicles 13:5.

Here it seems to clearly imply that the covenant of salt is

a lasting agreement,

something that goes on forever.

Salt is a mineral that preserves foods without refrigeration.

Salt is good, it makes meat savory, and keep this flesh from becoming corrupted; and so it is with our Heavenly Fathers grace which seasons men’s hearts, and makes their conversations savory.

Col. 4:6  Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man. (that is: Our words should be with SALT – wholesome and palatable).

It preserves them/us from the corruption of sin.

Following salvation, believers become partakers of the grace of God; and, both by their words and actions are good and useful to others, all true ministers of the Gospel, are the salt of the earth.

Our bodies require salt to survive. These bodies cannot make salt so must get it (sodium) from the foods we eat, because without salt, the body would die.

So what is the meaning of the covenant of salt?

Is it our Heavenly Fathers’s way of saying that it is a

covenant that is preserved,

one that lasts forever?

Could it infer that without this covenant, we die to the things of God?

Salt is NaCl.

An ion of sodium (Na), which is a metal, reacts with chlorine ion (Cl), a poisonous gas, to create Sodium Chloride (NaCl) which becomes a stable rock called salt.

We add it to our foods, and we use it on our roads to melt ice.

Salt is Sodium chloride.

Sodium ions (Na+) are required in small amounts by some plants. Sodium is needed in large amounts by animals to generate nerve impulses and to maintain electrolyte and fluid balance. Sodium chloride is vital for maintaining extracellular fluid in multicellular organisms.

In medicine, saline, the solution of sodium chloride, is used for intravenous infusions.

An interesting point is that a permutation of the Hebrew word

melach, salt; is chalam,

which means healing.

On the other hand, excessive salt consumption can aggravate hypertension in our bodies and soil with a high concentration of salt is infertile. However in a measured quantity salt can kill weeds and we know if you do nothing to a garden you still get/grow weeds. This is symbolic of the garden/ground of our lives we will get spiritual weeds growing if we don’t tend and keep it, planting seeds that will produce a beneficial harvest. This thought brings to remembrance the original directions to Eden’s occupants!

As the Torah says,

Sulfur and salt have burnt the entire land.

Deuteronomy 29:22

Another scripture tells us that when Abimelech destroyed the city of Shechem, he

“sow[ed] salt on it” Judges 9:45,

to render it barren and prevent its repopulation.

When Elisha the prophet came to Jericho:

And the men of the city said to Elisha, ‘Behold, the situation of this city is pleasant, as my lord may see; but the water is bad, and the ground causes untimely births.’ And [Elisha] said, ‘Bring me a new flask and put salt in it.’ And they brought it to him. And they went out to the spring of waters, and cast salt in there, and said, ‘Thus says the Lord, I have healed this water; there shall not be from there any more death or miscarriages.’ So the water was healed to this day, according to the saying of Elisha. 2 Kings 2:19-22.

No matter who they are or what they do, the bottom line for each and every person, is that they will serve somebody/something. This is a black and white statement; and it is either the devil and his kingdom or Our Heavenly Father and His Kingdom whom we serve.  People can cover up/camouflage satan with all the religious pomp and finery they desire; 1 Cor. 8:4-6, but in the end, its’ roots are still in satans kingdoms of this world, and are not of the one True God, The Creator of His universe. 1 Cor. 10:18-22.  Our thoughts, words, and/or actions will indicate the one we serve as scripture says you will know them by their fruit. Matt. 7:16

Can this truth be found in the Tenach/Tenakh, this phrase

Covenant of Salt?

Scripture only refers to it 3x, yet it has great significance to the believer in Messiah Yeshua/Jesus today.

For many, it is an integral part of their commitment one to the other in the marriage covenant.

Leviticus 2:13

is the first time this phrase is found,

where the order of the words is

salt of the covenant.”

Salt was to be added to the grain offering which is the context of this passage.

However our Fathers’ Spirit did not stop with the grain offerings; in the same verse, He directed Moses to write that the Israelites were to add salt to all your offerings.  Specifying that not just grain offerings, but ALL offerings made to Him by the Israelites, were to have salt added to them.

In Numbers 18:19, is the second time it is mentioned, and it’s also in the instructions concerning offerings.  Here, the word order has been changed to covenant of salt.  In Numbers 18, Moses is told to instruct Aaron and the Levites that the care of the Tabernacle was their responsibility to fulfill.  Moses was also to inform them that

all the holy offerings the Israelites give Me I give to you and your sons as your portion and regular share.

This was their share/allotment, as they would not receive any inheritance in the Promised Land because

He was their inheritance.

All the offerings, belonged to them apart from the burnt offerings; this was because He was letting them know that through the offerings given by the people, He Himself would provide for them. The Priesthood/Kohenim were to serve the Lord and trust Him for their livelihoods. This has a counterpart in the New Testament as we are now a royal Priesthood and to rely on our Father in Heaven to provide for us. 1 Peter 2:9 & Matthew 6:8, 25-34.

Whatever is set aside from the holy offerings the Israelites present to the LORD I give to you…It is an everlasting covenant of salt before the LORD.

2 Chronicles 13:5 is the last time the phrase is found when the Lord gave to David and his descendants the kingship of Israel forever through a covenant of salt.

The previous two scriptures are concerning offerings, but this one is not.  2 Chronicles is seemingly totally unrelated to the 2 previous references, but is it connected somehow?  The scripture references never directly define the phrase in any of these passages, so how do we find out what our Father was trying to tell us through them?  More importantly for us reading it, what does it mean to believers in Yeshua/Jesus today?

And Why Salt?

Salt is a symbol of eternity because of its preservative properties; as opposed to leavening /chametz.

Salt does not ferment and so preserves food against rot and decay.

Because salt does not ferment …. it does not change its base elements!

As we read all these facts we must apply their meaning spiritually.

The Word of God is spiritually discerned and the precepts laid out in scripture are to be applied to our lives as we gain understanding.

This is the meaning of Proverbs 4:7:

Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding.

It is the application of His Word to our lives and applying that knowledge to ourselves. If we don’t have understanding, how will we know what to do with the knowledge we gain?

So when Yeshua/Jesus said you are the salt of the earth/world…

It suggests that we are

to stay the same, to be permanent,

we are not to change,

we are not to be blown around by every wind of doctrine

but remain stable, unmoved,

firmly planted on the Rock of our salvation,

Jesus Christ the Messiah/Yeshua HaMashiach.

We are to be consistent, committed and unshakeable in our faith and stand for the Lord, enduring to the end.

Remember salt is an element found in huge quantities all around the world and we are formed from the dust of the ground which includes salt. Ever tasted tears? They are salty and so is the sweat of our brow!

Because of this, Salt is essential to our bodies and they will not function properly without salt; and a lack of it can cause serious health issues. Any element which ferments is caused to expand due to the chemical process and this gives rise to volatile gases with explosive qualities!

We are not to be explosive in our conduct and manner of life. We are to be seasoned with salt and therefore not given to any explosive gases; instead to be calm, even tempered, bringing forth the fruit of His spirit and filled with His shalom.

Galatians 5:22-23

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.

The most interesting element of salt is: it a natural long term preservative and will keep food fresh for a long time. Before refrigeration technology, meat and fish were salted and many who preserve those, as well as fruit and vegetables, use salt techniques today.

He will preserve us until the day of our full redemption.

Apparently, Salt contains all of the 84 elements found in our bodies.

Some of the Health Benefits

of natural Himalayan Crystal Salt include:

Regulating the water content throughout your body.

Promoting a healthy pH balance in your cells, particularly our brain cells.

Promoting blood sugar health and helping to reduce the signs of aging.

Assisting in the generation of hydroelectric energy in cells in your body.

Absorption of food particles through your intestinal tract.

Supporting respiratory health.

INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT

It is estimated that salt has 14,000 uses;

below are just a few.

The Bible mentions salt more than 30 times. Salt has a religious significance and symbol of purity.

Salt is essential to health. Body cells must have salt in order to live and work. Blood, sweat and tears are salty.

Salt is an antiseptic (germ killing) property that make it useful for bathing of infections including being used as a mouth wash. It is also used for cleaning teeth.

Among people today, salt is still used as a sign of honor, friendship and hospitality. A saying, mentioned earlier, is “there is salt between us” meaning “we have eaten together, we are bonded friends”.

Salt was once so scarce and precious that it was used as money. Caesar’s soldiers received part of their pay in common salt. This was known as salarium from which the word salary comes.

Dating back to the days when workers were paid their wages in salt is the modern expression “not worth his salt”, and it literally means not working good enough to earn his wage.

Salt was a chief economic product of the ancient world. It was important in the development of the earliest highways of trade.

Roman soldiers built one of the great military roads in History, the Via Salaria (Salt Road), from the salt works at Ostia to Rome.

How is this relevant?

Salt enhances the taste of food.

Can the plain be eaten without salt? asks Job 6:6

On the other hand, over salted food becomes inedible. Drinking sea salt water will cause madness and death.

We are to seek the spiritual meaning.

Salt changes everything it comes in contact with but the salt itself remains unchanged!

So as we walk through life we are to initiate change in others lives and circumstances but remain unchanged ourselves. Directing them to Yeshua/Jesus His Ruach HaKodesh who always point to the Father.

As salt preserves food against decay and rot; if we are the salt of the earth, then we are to preserve the bread of life, which is the food of His Ruach/Spirit. It is that which feeds His sheep daily and it needs to be fresh, not stale or moldy. Just as the manna/manhu fed the children of Israel in the years of their wilderness journey. We are pilgrims, as Moses said, traveling through this land, sojourners not residents! This is not our home; and as we travel through our personal wilderness, passing between Egypt (type of the world) and the Promised Land; (Future Resurrection /Ascension life/chaim;) we are also receiving daily manna from Heaven seasoned with salt for our walk. Jesus/Yeshua said He was the bread of heaven, the bread of life; we eat of Him continually and are satisfied.

We are to be in receipt of His meat in due season and this food is the same that Yeshua/Jesus said He had,

I have meat that you know not of. John 4:32

We are to

and not become saltless and tasteless

and have the fate of being thrown to the side and trampled underfoot.

This is in reference to the fact that when salt had become tasteless it had no further use and was thrown into the streets and literally trodden underfoot by the roman armies marching along these roads.

This was probably also a reference to those living at that time under the oppressive Roman regime.

Some scholars point out that salt was used as a preserving element and it was added to the meat to help it stay fresh longer, until the priests could eat it.  Others point to the prohibition of eating meat containing blood; salt was applied to the offering (after it was killed and the skin removed) to aid in the removal of the blood from the carcass.  Salt was therefore seen as a cleansing or purifying agent as well.

If we read the scriptures there seems to be a question with these two lines of thought.

Salt was to be added to all your offerings, including the grain offering, which had no blood.  The burnt offerings, which were to have salt, were never to be eaten by the priests as the entire animal was consumed by fire. Lev. 1. Therefore in those cases no preservation or cleansing agent would be needed.  Furthermore, it couldn’t just be related to the Kohenim/Kohanim, as the phrase covenant of salt was also used with David, who was from the tribe of Judah.  So it would seem that the meaning of the salt covenant was something other than preservation, prevention from eating blood, or cleansing.

One scholar noted that “salt had an enduring quality and therefore in the Middle East salt was used in ceremonies to seal an agreement.  Hence, the idea may simply be that God’s call upon the Kohenim and their service should endure, i.e., overcome all things.”

It sounds right but it doesn’t explain why it’s used in connection with the House of David and the Israelites who presented the offerings.

There seems to be much more to this covenant of salt.  Is it possible that the covenant of salt was all about a relationship with the Father based upon trust?

Faith in Him alone?

The people were to trust Him by giving the salt that was put into their offering.  He would provide for them and they were to give back out of love and obedience.

The priests and Levites were to trust Him by serving Him without a land inheritance like their brothers.

He would provide for their livelihood while they were away from their cities which were all throughout Israel.

David and his sons were to trust God as their King and serve Him, believing He would keep the throne moving through David’s line long after David and his sons were gone; fulfilling prophecy.

It seems most likely that this is the truth Our Father is trying to express when He uses the phrase covenant of salt.

Is it not Truth that He desires a relationship with His people based upon trust? One that can be witnessed in their actions and, the end goal will be seen through a changed life?

The first Hebrew word in the phrase, covenant, is

bĕriyth

בּרית.

This word basically means an agreement or alliance between two parties where each party makes a pledge to keep their part of the agreement.

Genesis 6:18. is the first time this word is found.

One scholar states: “In the essence of salt is the power of water and the power of fire, which signify two of the [Divine] attributes on which the world is established: the attribute of Compassion (midat rahamim) and the attribute of Justice (midat hadin), and for this reason . . . it is called the salt of your covenant with God.

The covenant of salt

is one of permanence;

if it were not important or relevant to us,

Jesus/Yeshua would not have talked about it.

Remember His listeners were Jewish and knew Torah and Tenakh. Even if they did not read scrolls for themselves, the Rabbis read portions of scripture in the synagogues each week through the year; cycling through the Torah Prophets and Writings annually. These sections are called parashat and served as a calendar for the people. Appropriate teachings accompanied the readings. This is the reason that Yeshua/Jesus went to His hometown that particular week because it was the week for the reading of the Isaiah scroll. It was not random. He would of course have known that, and so would all those listening. In every synagogue, everywhere, at that time, all of them would have been reading the same portion of Isaiah as Messiah declared

this day it is fulfilled in your hearing! Wow!

It was the Fathers perfect timing as they literally read through Torah and later the Tenakh every year. The second reading, called haftorah, was added when the Israelites were in captivity in Babylon and they were forbidden from reading Torah. They took the time to locate scriptures within the writings and the Prophets that spoke of, and had reference to, the subjects of the Torah parashat readings; that way they were neither in rebellion to the authorities to whom they were captive, nor lacking in their yearly readings.

Ma’aser, tithes to the levites. God made an agreement with the Kohanim, so He made one with the Levites, who would receive the first 10% of each farmers’ produce. This regular tithe amounted to the supporting the servants of the priests of the Lord. This is the origin of the tithes commonly referred to in many of todays denominations. Interesting when it comes to money that this old testament observance is included in modern Christianity and other old testament scriptures are ignored or ‘done away with’!

These tithes were to feed those who were 100% dedicated to the Lord and had no other means of support. In obedience to doing the Lords will for their life they owned no land and had no other source of income but the Lord. These tithes were not given for constructing buildings or other projects; or to be used by the kohanim to make themselves comfortable. Somewhere along the way we have missed the real reason for the tithe and since 70AD with no temple, and no priesthood, no tithes were given/received? And now instead of produce its mostly in the form of money, not physical food etc. So this was given to the Israelites and all those connected to the covenant which revolved around the annual harvests and Gods’ Appointed Times; yet we dismiss that part as not relevant to our walk….hmmmmm!!!? One wonders is this selective observance of scripture, just doing what we feel comfortable with or what we are told to do??? Nowhere does Yeshua/Jesus tell us to give of our income just for projects inspired by men, but rather to give where there is real need, to the poor, to the needy for food, clothing, shelter, etc. We are to give liberally and joyfully.

2 Cor. 9:7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.

Prov. 19:17 He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the LORD, and his good deed will he pay him again.Jesus reminds us that our giving is ultimately to the all-seeing heavenly Father.

Deuteronomy 15:10. Give generously to him and do so without a grudging heart;

Jesus said “When you give . . . ; your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you” (Matthew 6:3-4).

Many things have natural salt and salt is added to food to enhance the original flavors.

We see the equivalent in our spiritual walk salt, when we are salty we give flavor to life, to ours and to those around us.

In many recipes, it is an ingredient that needs to be carefully measured or too much will spoil the result; so with us, we are to be led by His Ruach and give out just the right amount; not over salting but in a balanced portion so it can be enjoyed and ingested and not overdone. In the same way as Proverbs 25:16,27, tells us to be cautious about overeating honey!

The food we are to eat in order to feed our spirits and maintain a healthy walk, is found in His Word,

Our daily bread, our manna from heaven.

Added salt increases its satisfying properties, and we all know how salty food makes us thirsty, so then we look for water and again a type of His Word.

Washing of the water of the Word and when we come to Yeshua/Jesus, we will never thirst again spiritually, for He is the source of the wellspring, the water of the river of eternal life/chaim.

The covenant of salt symbolizes:

loyalty,

honesty,

and it represents that which is

a lasting or preserved covenant.

Mentioned earlier, some of the Eastern people still use the phrase:

There is salt between us.

In Bible times, they understood that the

covenant of salt

meant that they would keep their word at all costs!

It is important that we are aware of these things as we immerse ourself into the world of our Heavenly Fathers’ people and their spiritual life.

Salt in Water Produces Fire!

In this context salt is employed to express the preserving, purifying, divine spiritual energy, which is also spoken of as fire.

The two emblems produce the same result.

They both salt….

That is, they cleanse/purify and keep/preserve.

Mark 9:49-50 “For everyone will be seasoned with fire, and every sacrifice will be seasoned with salt. Salt is good, but if the salt loses its flavor, how will you season it? Have salt in yourselves, and have peace with one another”

  1. 4:6 “Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one”. John 15:13 “Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends”.

There is also a custom of a Salt bath for newborn babies. Newborn babies were rubbed with salt symbolizing that they would grow up and

say what they mean, and mean what they say!

Ezek. 16: 1 Again the word of Yahweh came to me, saying, 2 Son of man, cause Jerusalem to know her abominations; 3 and say, Thus says the Lord Yahweh to Jerusalem: Your birth and your birth is of the land of the Canaanite; the Amorite was your father, and your mother was a Hittite. 4 As for your birth, in the day you were born your navel was not cut, neither were you washed in water to cleanse you; you weren’t salted at all, nor swaddled at all.

Mark 9:50. Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his saltness, wherewith will ye season it? Have salt in yourselves, and have peace one with another.

The question is

R U salty

are we salty

are we the salt and light of this world??

Or

are we the ones being trampled underfoot

by the feet of the oppressing enemy?

This enemy is to be under our feet;

so let’s be the salty ones.

Those who are full of His flavor, then, when truth seekers come to us we can say… taste and see that the Lord is good.

And the food that we offer them will be seasoned in perfect quantity.

It is our responsibility to fill up with this meat in due season and be seasoned with salt, so that we have an encouraging and appropriate, right in the moment word in that season, for every hungry heart.

We are the seasoning of this age

and in this hour

we
