One definition of fear is that of, an emotional response to a perceived danger and is often followed by what we term a fight or flight reaction. The word tells us to stand therefore and having done all (spiritually that is), to stand; so it’s actually neither flight or fight, because it’s a spiritual response to a physical event in the natural realm.

We are to be still and know that He is God.

We do not react, we respond, and that is the difference which stops the spirit behind the fear from gaining influence or entrance into our life and situation.

Why? Because Luke 12:32 its your Fathers’ good pleasure to give you the kingdom when we fear not and

So we exchange fear for His righteousness, peace and joy and His righteousness means we are in right-standing before Him – washed and covered in His Blood: His peace/Shalom – nothing missing nothing broken, no good thing is withheld and His joy – the joy of the Lord is our strength.

These attributes are also the fruit of His spirit within us

Once we know that we know God is in control then He obviously knew of the event in question before it occurred. This gives us the faith we need to respond by casting the care of this event upon Him and look to Him and what His Word tells us concerning any fears we may have.

While these verses are direct in saying to “not fear” – one should realize that every time it is recorded to “trust the Lord” or “trust in the Lord” it is also saying to not worry and/or fear

Many people say that there are 365 fear nots in the Bible, it is a nice thought, but it’s not exactly true. There isn’t a version of the Bible that says exactly, fear not 365x. For example, the King James Version says Fear not or Be not afraid 103 times, but not 365 times.

So why could we say that there are more than 365 Fear nots in the Bible for a year without fear?

Fear is spoken of over 500 times in the KJV and in addition to the Fear nots many times the reference in the Bible is teaching us to Fear God, which really means to reverence and respect God alone and do not fear anyone or anything else.

Enlarging the search to look at verses encouraging us to receive God’s peace and strength when we’re worried or anxious would add many, many more Fear not Scriptures; and this is why we could say that there are more than 365 Fear nots in the Scriptures.

Do not be afraid; just have faith (Mark 5:36).

These four words, Do not be afraid, are spoken countless times throughout the Scripture. We should pay attention to them. Fear can paralyze us and lead us into many forms of foolish thinking and acting. The person who acts out of fear truly acts like a fool.

As we read our favorites we will be learning them and committing His Word to memory which is a great way to have your sword at the ready when fear tries to strike unannounced, simply speak out His Word this is the sword (Word of God/scripture); coming out of our mouths.

Psalm 23 is one of the most well-known and most quoted verses in the Old Testament. This verse in Psalm 23 can give you great comfort because God is our shepherd. Shepherds guide their sheep to the food and water they need. When a sheep goes astray, a shepherd will use his staff to gently guide the sheep back. Even when you mess up and stray from God, He is your great Shepherd. He will lead you back to life everlasting.

 God wants to be your only stronghold.

God wants to be the one area of your life you can’t let go of, no matter how hard you try.

Instead of being bound by a sin that gives way to bondage, by allowing God to be your stronghold, you can live in freedom knowing you no longer have to fight your battles alone. God is with you every step of the way.

This verse reminds us of how small we really are! Think about this: God holds each one of us in the palm of his hand. This means He is a big God! It is easy to only see our part of the world and think we are in so much more control than we really are.

This is easier said than done. Because God gave you the ability to look to the future, it’s easy to worry about how your actions or lack of resources now might negatively impact your future. Yet, you can trust that just as God cares for the most insignificant of creatures, he can and will take care of every detail of your life.

Therefore, it is fruitless to fret about tomorrow, since the author of tomorrow already knows what ‘s coming.

Matthew 10:28 – Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.

Be aware of the devil’s schemes.

In today’s world, it is easy to diminish the devil to a small cartoon character wielding a pitchfork and donning two red horns. Yet, Satan is a powerful force in this world, and he influences those that are apart from God. Scripture says he prowls around like a lion looking to devour. Lions are not small animals!

While you can put your trust in God, you still need to keep your guard up and protect your heart from the influence Satan can have in your life if you give him grounds to do so.

Matthew 10:31 – So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.

Matthew 11:28 Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Matthew 13:22- And the one on whom seed was sown among the thorns, this is the man who hears the word, and the worry of the world and the deceitfulness of wealth choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful.

Matthew 14:27 – But Jesus immediately said to them: ‘Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.’

Matthew 17:7 – But Jesus came and touched them. ‘Get up,’ he said. ‘Don’t be afraid.’

Mark 5:36 – Overhearing what they said, Jesus told him, ‘Don’t be afraid; just believe.’

Mark 6:50 – because they all saw him and were terrified. Immediately he spoke to them and said, ‘Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.’

Mark 13:11 – Whenever you are arrested and brought to trail, do not worry beforehand about what to say. Just say whatever is given you at the time, for it is not you speaking, but the Holy Spirit.

Luke 1:13 – But the angel said to him: ‘Do not be afraid, Zechariah; your prayer has been heard. Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you are to call him John.’

Acts 20:10 – Paul went down, threw himself on the young man and put his arms round him. ‘Don’t be alarmed,’ he said, ‘He’s alive!’

Acts 27:24 – and said, “Do not be afraid, Paul. You must stand trial before Caesar; and God has graciously given you the lives of all who sail with you.”

Romans 5:1 – Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,

Romans 8:28     And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.

 

Rom 8:38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 

39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Nothing can separate you from God’s love. 

Nothing – No Thing!

This gives great comfort and assurance that there is nothing you or I can do to separate ourselves from God’s love. Even when you feel completely separated from God, take solace in the fact that Yeshua/Jesus’ blood covers every sin.

No sin is left uncovered by Christ’s blood.

1 Corinthians 9:24 Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it.

1 Corinthians 7:32 – But I want you to be free from concern. One who is unmarried is concerned about the things of the Lord, how he may please the Lord;

2 Corinthians 4:8-9 We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed;

2 Corinthians 5:7 for we walk by faith, not by sight.

Galatians 6:9   And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.

Hebrews 13:6 – So we say with confidence, ‘The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?’

Philippians 4:6 – Do not be anxious about anything but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

I Peter 3:6 – like Sarah, who obeyed Abraham and called him her lord. You are her daughters if you do what is right and do not give way to fear.

I Peter 3:14 – But even if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed. ‘Do not fear their threats; do not be frightened.’

1 Peter 5:7 – Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

When you are humble, you have peace. 

1 Peter 5:6-7 – Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

This verse not only tells us not to be afraid but also that through humility we can achieve peace. Pride is the antithesis of peace because pride allows us to think we’re independent from God and we can do things on our own. But when we humble ourselves and tell God we can’t do anything without Him, we can cast our cares onto God because He is big enough to shoulder them.

We no longer have to carry our burdens independently from Him and try to manage them ourselves. God cares about us enough to lift our burdens and give us a yoke of peace/shalom that gives us rest when we need it most.

Fear is not easy to overcome. Yet, the Bible  speaks a lot about fear. The above verses are just a sample of many verses that discuss fear. No matter what verse we analyze, however, know this—God is here for each of us in every detail of our lives. In this we can take heart.

1 John 4:18 – There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.

Revelation 1:17 – When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. Then he placed his right hand on me and said: ‘Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last.’

Revelation 2:10 – Do not be afraid of what you are about to suffer. I tell you, the devil will put some of you in prison to test you, and you will suffer persecution for ten days. Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you life as your victor’s crown.

Isaiah 41:10 – Fear thou not; for I [am] with thee: be not dismayed; for I [am] thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

Psalms 34:4 – I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.

1 John 4:4 – Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

Romans 15:13 – Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.

Numbers 23:19 – God [is] not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do [it]? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?
